True enough. Perhaps we don't need an actual Library, so much as we just need to have book discussions in the tavern.
Is there some other use to which you'd like to put the Library, as a different sub forum?

(Okay, so I'm thinking while talking so please forgive me...) What if we treat the library in a similar to how we treat the museum, with a few formal threads on subjects and then more directed discussions? Or wait, is that how it is now? We could have the sort of everybody writes a sentence writing games, etc, in there and more formal book reviews...

Yeah, but there needs to be a specific purpose for the forum. Just talking about books will be difficult because there are going to be a lot of people who haven't read the same books, meaning the threads just won't be used.
So, we really just need to think about what kind of subject area we can use for it - basically like what we've done for the Catacombs.

Hmm... that makes the problem much clearer.
It could be used as a resource forum. A sort of "Hey, anybody have anything on _______?" and "I thought you all would enjoy this helpful site found on this topic" place. Have it operate as a library in the sense that is where you go to find information on any topic that currently is demanding your attention.

It sounds like a great idea, but how does it relate to fantasy and/or history? The Tavern is the forum in which to discuss absolutely anything, and I don't really want another one. So, if that is going to work it'll have to be relevant to the guild.

We probably should included within the subforum rules that topics would have to be relevant to the guild, that this isn't a place to search for just anything.

I also like Gornwen's suggestion. It could be like a forum where you could ask others about where to find more info on certain fantasy like things or whatever. I'm still not sure how it could be run but we can keep discussing this until we get it right. 3nodding

The Theatre wasn't working. So, now I really need new ideas for a subforum. I can't seem to latch on to another idea just yet.

Gee Mel, that's too bad. I had high hopes for that one... sweatdrop
As soon as I get an idea for a sub-forum use, I'll come back and post about it! 3nodding

How about a sub-forum for the various and sundry activities involved in historical recreation or bringing fantasy to life in whatever ways. That would include discussion on film and theater as well as things like LARPs, re-enactments, and historical recreation and re-imagining groups like the SCA and Steam Century. Folks could discuss designing making period things or things that would fit into fantasy worlds or post things like YouTube videos of period-recreation performances and the like.
Just a thought.

Good idea Berz. I'll probably look into doing that shortly. It won't be today though, it's late at night where I am in the UK.

That is a good idea--because those kinds of things tend to go a bit beyond pure role playing, and we don't really have an otherwise good place to put such topics.
