#Arrival#
Aurrek sat on his front step, holding a bundle in his arms with a look in his eyes like that of a toddler watching television.
He had a son.
Well, the boy had been entrusted to him. Aurrek had never been interested in getting a child any other way. Or, really, in ending up with one at all.
But apparently this one was for him.
The God of Hourglasses gave a little sigh and finally snapped out of his stunned trance long enough to peer down at the wad of blanket in his arms, which was now starting to squirm a little.
Aurrek had decided that the boy's name would be Kelreid. To a human, the little bald, long-eared, and, most importantly, translucent boy would have looked quite strange, even among the various odd beings that seemed to inhabit this Gaia place. But Aurrek already found himself feeling little pangs of fatherly love at the child he held in his own slightly-less translucent arms.
Maybe with a kid like this, the god would not feel like quite as much of a freak.
Still, he had just moved in a week or so before. Was it customary for neighbors to give newcomers babies in this place?
With a sigh, Aurrek observed that Kelreid was starting to cry. He had best get the little guy back inside; maybe he had had enough fresh air, or was hungry or something. Aurrek would have to learn all this baby stuff.

Aurrek This brown haze has taken up residence in my house after I found it in my back yard randomly a few weeks ago. It seems rather entertained with Kelreid, at least, and, since it doesn't seem to harm the kid, I guess it's a welcome guest. Makes weird chirping noises, and the last couple times I got close to it, I had some weird hallucinations. It must be that silly Gaian magic. As long as it stays creepy fog, I guess, and doesn't turn into a brother or sister for the kid or anything. Although on second thought, it might be worth feeding another bratlet if it meant it and Kelreid could entertain each other. Not that I mind kids or anything.

#Early Gifts#Aurrek returned from a shopping trip looking grumpy, with an armload of bags and a rather lethargic-looking Nordri clinging to his hair in the back. He was thoroughly sick of this Christmas business, and he had decided on the way home that he could spoil his kid whenever he wanted. And, though the god may have not been about to admit it, he rather hoped the boy would be happy enough to cheer him up after a rather abysmal shopping trip at the mall packed with crazy shoppers.
He went into Kelreid's room and plucked the boy from his crib and, after changing him and giving him some warm formula, set him down on the carpet and started unloading his packages.
"It's getting chilly, kid, so I got you more blankets for your pram. They were on sale at the ranger surplus store, and I thought camouflage would be boyish enough for you." "And I can't exactly have you keep running around in just a diaper. For my own sanity as well as yours. ... When do mortals get sanity? Are you even big enough for that yet?" "... I guess you can have this, too. Impulse buy. We'll keep it out of reach until you're older." "I also picked up something else for you to watch when I'm not home. A boy and a girl, because the man at the pet shop said if you get two boys, they try to kill each other. And that's only exciting once." "... The guy at the pet store also told me that mortal boys like rocks and dirt and stuff, too. But I've also heard rocks are dirty? So I bought you one at the store. Is green okay?" "There you go. ... Uh, enjoy?"Kelreid squealed and waved his chubby arms. Christmas was fine with him whenever it happened to come.

Kelreid was getting bigger and bigger already. Even without his father's immortal viewpoint, the little boy was growing quickly. And he was starting to think that maybe he was about ready to start trying to walk, too.

... Maybe tomorrow.

Ability Quest! Now that you're older Kelreid you need to go out into the world. Your protector (or someone else) needs to take you to a place with animals. This can be a zoo, a family friend's farm, or even the park woods. Wherever you go, you need to encounter five different kinds of animals and be told what they are.
