: The last couple of minutes in this match had told Bret plenty about Diego, including the fact that underestimating him would be a terrible idea. In the back of his head, he knew that he had to keep a heightened sense of awareness and stay on top of this opponent. Lifting Diego up and over the ropes, he'd take a step or two forward, only to look back to see Diego hanging on. Moving back in at the opposition to potentially bait the man into a shoulder thrust, Bret would make a sudden stop as Alva attempted the aforementioned shoulder thrust. As he did, Hart attempted to kick his right foot up into the man's chest and head with a harsh snap off the impact!
If successful, Bret would step in to follow up. Hart would look to apply the left-armed front facelock around Alva's neck so that he could step back and post Alva onto the second rope for a concussive DDT. :

: And after a back and forth segment between the two men, the veteran seemed to have picked up the upperhand! Nailing that kick to the chest as Alva attempted the shoulder thrust, Bret followed it up with that second rope, concussive DDT! Bret had his target picked out, and knew it would work to his advantage if he could successfully pick it apart. Leaning down, Bret would attempt to place the leg with the surgically-repaired knee over the bottom rope. If successful, Bret would then try to isolate and destroy that knee with stomps aimed right for the kneecap. Smaller tactics now would set up for the finish later on. :

[[Apologies, I went away for the weekend]]
Alva was stunned and he felt some far away leg be pulled onto the bottom rope, but as the champ began to shake the cob webs however, he saw that it was his leg being dragged on top of the rope. Eyes widening, knowing that Bret was going for his bad knee, Alva swung his left leg at the leg that would be supporting Bret's body as Bret's other leg would be kicking at Alva's knee, hoping to trip him. If successful, the champ would get his leg off the bottom rope and get back to his feet, trying to gain control of the match.

: Bret was momentarily deterred from his game plan as Alva tried to trip him up. Hart would stumble aside some, losing a bit of his balance, but using the nearby ropes to re-establish his balance. Seeing Alva getting back to his feet, Bret would immediately swoop low, lunging his shoulder forward to try and just chopblock that knee out! Hart was not going to be denied his prey, and was certainly not going to allow Diego to get out of this match without sustaining some sort of damage to that knee. :

As soon as Alva had gotten back to his feet, he felt a heavy mass run into his knee, making him topple as he grunted with pain. To ensure that Bret could not continue the enslaught, the pained Alva rolled out of the ring, walking around the ring in an attempt to walk off the pain. As he did this, he kept a close eye on Bret to make sure he wasn't going to try anything funny.

: The chopblock would drive Diego Alva to the outside to walk off the damage, and to his credit, it was a smart idea. Bret, not in a rush, didn't want to make a mistake. Plus, nailing that chopblock allowed Bret to get into Diego's head. Pacing as he watched Alva, he stood back and watched the referee begin to count the man out. Hart was calm and collected at this point, waiting for his next opportunity to pick at that surgically-repaired knee. :

: Hart noted that Diego was probably not going to come in willingly at this point, and therefore he decided to take the fight to him. While Diego was occupied with shaking his knee out, Hart slid out of the ring on the far side. Coming around to approach Alva from behind, Bret would catch up beside him and attempt to lay a running stomp into the back of that knee! :

[[Could have sworn I posted in here. Apologies, had funeral stuff for a aquaitance of mine]]
Diego had been fully aware of Bret's presence, for he had been watching him the entire time. [Note: In my previous post I said Alva was watching Bret intently.] When Bret got close to Diego, swinging the stomp, Diego side stepped to the right, making Bret's kick hit nothing but air. As Bret would kick, Diego did two things. He attempted to put in foot behind the leg that was holding Bret up, while putting an arm across Bret's chest, pushing backwards in a attempt to force him to trip backwards over his leg and fall down hard to the concrete!

: Taking that drop onto the concrete, Hart bounced on impact and he rolled aside slowly with a wince .. using the guardrail to try and pull himself to a stand. :

The former champ knew that it would not be wise to leave this veteran alone for any amount of time, for the key to some of the major losses in history was due to under estamating one's opponent. As Bret began to pull himself to his feet, Diego attempted to grab the veteran's head and smash it off of the guard rail. If that connected, Diego would proceed to attempt to irish whip Bret into a ring poll, and then roll him into the ring in an attempt to keep his momentum going.

: Having just returned to his feet, Alva went ahead and slammed Hart into the guardrail, then into the ringpost. In that dazed state, Bret would be rolled into the ring under the ropes .. trying to roll toward the center to try and get some distance between himself and Diego Alva. :

[[Thanks dude, it's good to be back haha]]
Diego was quick on Bret Hart's trail into the ring, refusing to give the veteran even a few seconds to breathe. The veteran had rolled to the center of the ring by the time Diego had gotten into the ring, and Alva walked over with a quick step. Once at Bret's feet, Diego tried to put Bret in a half Boston Crap, attempting to hook the right leg to apply pressure with. This would slow Bret down for the later on in the match.

: Getting his wits about him with a shake of the head, Alva grabbed onto his leg. But as Alva lowered to try and take him over for the Crab, Hart leaned up, attempting to curl his arm around the back of Alva's neck so that he could bring his other leg to wrap around the opponent's to roll Diego onto his shoulders with the Small Package cradle! :

As Diego attempted to hook Bret's leg, he felt a pair of hands close in around his neck, and before he could react, he was on his shoulders with emense pressure above him. Diego began to squirm as he heard the ref's hands begin to count, attempting to get out of the pin. After the two fall, Diego finally succeeded. Once the former champ broke the pin, he rolled away from Hart, climbing back to his feet.
