Suddenly, a feeling of being doused with gooey water captured Frostbane. It started on his head and moved slowly down to fully encompass him, suffusing all weariness that had previously been adamant. An intense emotion, one of excitement, burned through Frostbane’s veins and the need to create, to design, grasped him. The storm had done it, released this artistic flood and would help him fashion the masterpiece of his life. All he needed now was a purple bauble, the centrepiece of a magnificent creation.

Frostbane spread out his alabaster wings, just about ready to launch himself out of the tree, when he heard the sound of a sentinel. Right below him. Turning his head slightly, his eyes alighted on the tiny pouch attached to its - no, her - leg. A crafter then, perfect.

Frostbane plunged off his branch, wings open slightly in a very strange falcon-like plummet. He slammed open his large wings with a sharp crack, to gentle his dive just before he reached the branch. He landed exceedingly close to the young female, within a wingspan of her.

“Pass me your pouch NOW.” Frostbane voice was husky and somehow threatening, a very different tone then his usual airy voice. He lowered his head slightly and fluffed out several of his feathers to assume an aggressive posture. The adrenaline churning through him made him edgy and all Frostbane knew now was that he had to find a Purple jewel.

Tousled's concentration was brutally shattered as a loud crack of wings sounded so close to her, it made her ear tufts bounce. She whipped around to face the source of the sound and her unkempt feathers suddenly fluffed up so bad they looked more like down on a hatchling. Her inspiration was drowned out in the sound of her own heartbeat, and when she saw the sentinel that had startled her, it was entirely pushed back into its protective shell by an onslaught of impressions.

First of all, he was a male, and he was beautiful. That was good in a way, because the pure blue stripes against his snow white feathers reminded her for a moment of the masterpiece she had had in mind. It was, however, bad in a whole lot of other ways. She always felt awkward and intimidated near beautiful sentinels. Especially if they were males. And this one even seemed hostile!
She shrank back a little from his piercing, blue gaze, trying to make herself look smaller, while her mind raced for an explanation of his behaviour. In less than a heartbeat, she had a dozen different ideas ranging from the perfectly plausible – she had accidentally trespassed on his territory – to the absurdly paranoid – maybe she had insulted his obviously artistic senses just by being, well, the way she was – but then her common sense returned to restore some order, and she remembered that he had said something, just now… What was it? Pass him… the pouch?!

Her claw instinctively closing around her treasures, Tousled settled for bewilderment. With her feathers hopelessly fluffed up and her low fight-or-flight posture she looked quite aggressive, but her little voice, no more than a whisper now, betrayed her confusion.

“I-I-I-I beg your pardon?” she stuttered, tentatively edging a little bit away from the aggressive white male.

Although currently out of close hearing range of both Frostbane and Tousled, there is another Sentinel in the area. That Sentinel, although not particularly brave or eloquent, would not hesitate to step between the aggressive medic and the ruffled female if he were able to hear the strange conversation taking place.

There are a few problems preventing this, though. The first being that the Sentinel in question cannot hear the conversation. The second being that the Sentinel in question cannot hear the conversation because he is not actually conscious at the moment.

The third problem is that the Sentinel in question may or may not be dead.

Eva's concern about the storm, although she has know way of knowing it, has proven to be true. The skies did open up not long after she and Moult parted ways, and while Eva made it to the safety of her tree, Moult did not. When the rain started, the ragged male didn't have a chance-- his poorly conditioned feathers soaked through in moments, and the winds sent the hapless Watcher directly into the unforgiving (and sharp) branches of an oak tree. From there, he plummeted to the ground, and he's been there, half stuck in a bush (and unprotected through the storm), ever since.

His injuries are significant, but that's alright; after all, something will almost certainly eat him before the day is out, so it shouldn't be a long-term issue.

Eva let a small silence pass over her as she continued to sit on the branch of the tree she had landed on. Who knows how long she sat there, only listening to the sound of the stream below now, her eyes closed. But then the sound was drilled into her mind, and she became bored with the rather peacefulness of this. She flapped her wings, and took off again, into the air.

She couldn't help but get the feeling in her chest that something was wrong. What, she didn't know at all, but for some reason, the feeling was just.. there.

It wasn't long though, before voices could be heard in the distance. As she grew closer, the voices in turn got louder, and she could slightly tell that there was one male, and one female in the conversation. But something seemed to be weird with the way the female was reacting. She turned almost sharply, until she saw two dark figures a small distance ahead, not in focus. But obviously, they were the ones having a conversation.

“I want the…. umm.” Frostbane’s sharp voice slowly softened and his eyes became glazed. The alien feeling was back, distracting Frostbane from the conversation. It seemed that a fuzziness was intruding upon the edges of his senses and all concentration seemed distant. A loud plunk, a sense of dismay, a vague pain and the gluey splattering of the egg brought Frostbane back to reality.

Cringing, Frostbane gave a brief shutter. “Wh..What?” He paused. “…..Aww Damn. I knew this would happen… I should never have left that god damn cherry tree.” and instead let that poor scout perish. With a snort at the sarcastic thought, Frostbane turned to his newest victim.... Who looked something like a ball of fluff? Unable to suppress his amusement, Frostbane let out a musical laugh…that continued for a brief period until he could catch his breath.

“It’s a…hick ...umm..mental problem. I suppose, hick, you could call it. Though emotional problem would probably be more fitting…hick, hick…. I am so sorry for scaring you. Hick.” The brief apology would probably have been much more sentimental if Frostbane hadn’t been still recovering from his laughing attack.

After a few moments of struggling to regain his composure he turned back to Tousled and gave a brief apologetic grin. ”But really, I AM very sorry.... But if you would excuse me, my intuition is screaming at me right now.” Frostbane said the last with the utmost honesty and total seriousness. Another drastic personality change from the jubilant creature that had been doubled up in glee mere seconds ago. Usually, when Frostbane recovered from an ‘attack’ he briefly picked up the emotions of those closest to him. Pain had never been part of the package. That could mean only one thing. The scout hadn’t been the only one caught up in the last night’s storm.

Hidden in one of the trees, Ila couldn't help but notice the squabble of the two Sentinels below her. She wasn't one to intrude on anything, and she didn't even know the two. As her Scout profession, it was her duty to investigate, but not into other Sentinels' affairs. Besides, it was about time to start her rounds. Spreading her grey wings, she took off from the branch, to head off into another area.

Of course, she kept her eyes peeled for anything else around, you never know what a storm could do. Her premonition was correct, as she found noted an unfamiliar splotch on the forest floor beneath her. Ila dropped down lower, to see what the messy blob of feathers was...

Tousled watched warily as some strange change came over the white sentinel. A shudder passed through his snowy feathers, and then he didn't seem at all threatening anymore. However, she had only just started to relax when he looked back at her again - and burst into laughter! The humiliation stung in her eyes and chest.

For a moment, she was too shocked and insulted to say anything, but as the haughty creature turned serious again, threw out a quick apology and made ready to fly off, Tousled finally found her breath again. She was already fluffed up worse than a chick, so why bother trying not to get upset?

"You... wait just a second, there! You scare the life half out of me, try to rob me, and then you have the gall to actually stand there and LAUGH at me! Do you really think a simple 'I'm sorry' can compensate for all that?" Her frail little voice had risen to an unexpected volume. It was hoarse from disuse and seemed as though it would break at any moment, but she forged on. A fierce, fluffy, wounded little critter. "What is the matter with you, anyway? Emotional problem? I'll say! Don't you dare try to just walk away now, I demand an explanation, and a proper apology!"

The messy feathered smear on the forest floor, for his part, is unaware of all the fuss between Tousled and Frostbane, just as he's unaware of the proximity of Eva and Ila. He's still unconscious-- and that's a good thing, because he'd be in an awful lot of pain if he was awake.

The extent of his injuries (whenever anyone is close enough and experienced enough to determine them) is a fractured leg, a cracked talon or two, numerous cuts and scrapes, one large puncture wound (still sluggishly bleeding, but not life-threatening) on his chest from a sharp twig, and-- sadly for Moult-- a good deal of snapped or missing flight feathers. He'll certainly have a concussion, and he's been sprawled on the damp earth for hours, soaked clean through, so he's quite cold.

Silly old bird.

Eva was still approaching the two figures in the distance, when she saw another figure catch her eye. It was flying away from the spot, although she hadn't seen it earlier, she didn't pay much mind to the other Sentinel. That was, until the other figure nearly stopped in place, and began to move downwards as if she saw something. At first, she believed maybe it was another hunter catching something for prey, or a gatherer, but the way it moved, she for some reason thought otherwise.

She turned her course, and followed Ila. As she neared, she spotted the figure way down below on the forest floor. A Sentinel? The gray feathers seemed so familiar, too... why wasn't it moving...? She descended slowly, getting lower and lower.. until...

"Moult!" She said, finally realizing who it was.

Frostbane had just lifted a wing to take his leave when the little female’s sharp voice caught his attention. “You... wait just a second, there! You scare the life half out of me, try to rob me, and then you have the gall to actually stand there and LAUGH at me! Do you really think a simple 'I'm sorry' can compensate for all that? What is the matter with you, anyway? Emotional problem? I'll say! Don't you dare try to just walk away now, I demand an explanation, and a proper apology!" Throughout her harangue, Frostbane had slowly been puffing his feathers up, continually growing in size until he towered over her. Casting what looked like a baleful glare over his right shoulder, he eyed her speculatively…

Then in one smooth gesture, he performed a spectacular bow, wings sweeping, head bowed; He ended up in what could be best described as a submissive stoop before her. “Please do not take offence, I assure you that was not my intention. Imagine, for a second, experiencing a vague dream, where you can but recall feelings, and blurry images. Then waking abruptly to find yourself abreast with a tuft of fur..…your appearance merely took me by surprise and my reaction…er.... just happened to be laughter.” Sincerity rang through Frostbane’s words, but an undertone of weariness was also present. The uncomfortable night and exhilarating morning was starting to take its toll. Still bowed low before Tousled, Frostbane continued with his dialogue. “You are welcome to accompany me and question me later, to your hearts desire, if you so choose. I’ll even explain my life to you, starting from my hatching date to the current day, but right now, as I’ve said, I have a rather bad feeling.”

Tousled was torn. On one claw, no matter if the white male was trying to exaggerrate it, he was bowing down to her, and he seemed sincere enough in his apology, but on the other claw Tousled's bruised ego did not in the slightest appreciate being referred to as "a tuft of fur".

Scratching little angry marks in the bark with her free claw, Tousled muttered "It's your fault that I look like this right now, y'know..." under her breath.

No, she was not satisfied yet. Temporarily appeased, maybe, but if he thought he could fly off without a decent explanation as to why he would try to rob her - or thought he could scare her away by being so huge and impressive and threatening as just now (okay, that was a little scary, but Tousled was fluffed up, which made her feel unusually gutsy) - He was just wrong.

"Okay," she said, pulling herself up in her entire, not-so-impressive height, challenging him with her sharp, yellow eyes. "I'll do that, then."

Eva is, of course, completely correct with her identification. What other living Sentinel could look so much like a torn rag of feathers? ...Except that currently, Moult is a torn rag of feathers, and the clearly visible splashes of red amongst his shredded pinions are not from cheery feather dye or decorative paint.

One wing is extended, tangled and caught in the branches of a bush; the other is tucked awkwardly under his body. His eyes are closed, but, on closer inspection, he's still breathing! That's good, right?

As Ila had noted the wounded Sentinel, another female had flown next to her. It was apparent that this dark feathered one knew who the injured was, Ila could guess that Moult was the name, though rather peculiar. Per training, she had been instructed on what to do when finding an Sentinel on the forest floor. However, she had never really done it practically. Problem solving, the young Sentinel decided the best possible solution was to collaborate with Eva. If needed, maybe the squabbling pair down by the river... Maybe one of the three were medics, or at least, be able to assist her in getting help. She decided on addressing Eva first.

"Do you know any medics in the area? He's unconscious, but alive. How about you stay to watch for any trouble, while I go get some help?" Ila was a speedy flier, and she knew where the nearest medic station was, even if it was quite far.

Eva looked over Moult's body. She began to get a panic-y feeling in her chest, but when she was assured that Moult was still breathing, she calmed down, but only a little. "I... I don't know any medics.." She said. "You'd be better off going with the plan of me staying here while you go... but you have to hurry." She worried. "He doesn't look too good." She didn't know if she should move him to a better looking position, or just leave him half-tangled like he was at the moment. She had never really became friends with a medic, sos she wouldn't know..

With a quick nod, Ila took off back into the skies. Her plan of action was decided, she would get other Sentinels to assist, whether they were medics or not. Though, not too many, or it would just draw a crowd. Going along speedily, she curved down to the riverside and dropped in between Tousled and Frostbane. It was rude, but time was of the essence.

"Sorry to interrupt your conversation..." The young Ghost Sentinel quickly explained the situation. "Do one of you know a medic?"
