Not sure what the view is, but if it's anything like what's on MTV... I pity you.
I have a word for people who are of that culture- I call them Tuna because they tend to flock like the fish and are collectively about the intellectual equivalent of one.

La Veuve Zin kp is dcvi NOW... what part of this is not appeal to emotion? If "THE POOR BABIES!" is so bad, how is "THE POOR WOMEN!" any better? Now before anyone reading tries to justify this in their mind... no! They skip the point. It's an emotive battle whether it's justified or not. And once you recognize that, you'll learn to stop calling AtEs on the other side. Because the truth is, Pro-choicers use just as many. Damn ******** straight. Also, The View makes me nauseous, no matter what they're babbling about. For about 6 months I worked the morning shift at ABC and I had to watch that tripe DAILY. I was like, NOW can we cut to a commercial? How about now? Is it time for soaps yet? PLEASE?!!?! I don't know what I hate more, soap opreas (why is it called that anyways?) or shows like the view,ect...

It started on the radio in the 1930s.

Okay, I have a couple of things to say. I love Whoopi Goldberg. Since "Sister Act". I really like Elisabeth Hasselbeck, too, way back from when she was on "Survivor: The Australian Outback".
And I like that Elisabeth has the courage to go on the View, everyday, with all those pro-choicers and liberals at the table, and defend her views. It's hard, and I understand how she feels. And though I don't agree with everything she's about (Pro-Iraq war, Pro-Bush, Semi-sorta-pro gay marriage), I certainly admire her courage. But I've seen her talk about abortion a lot, and the worst she had it was with Sandra Bernhard. They ended up basically swearing at each other. The subject can get volatile, which is why I like the View, because eventually they'll be bitching at each other about something.
As for Whoopi, I don't like what she said because yes, it is an appeal to emotion, just like "It's a baby, not a fetus" is. And it got an applause because in The View's audience, that's seen as a strong point, because to choicers, that's a strong point. They see abortion as necessary, because it's less risk to their lives, because they've decided that their abortion is more important than the life of their child. And so does Whoopi, and so did Rosie, and I love both of them, but this is where I differ with them.
I knew that when Elisabeth said that (I watched the show when it actually aired) she was going to get jumped on. But Joy usually does it. Barbara's actually kept a lid on her opinion of abortion, but I personally think she's pro-life personal, pro-choice political. And feels bad about abortion, because Elisabeth and Barbara had a conversation about frozen embryos and ended up in tears.
In case anyone is wondering, yes, I'm such a loser. And yes, I ******** love the View. heart
It's the only show that I've found that allows four women (mostly in the hot topics segment) to toss back their opinions, and try to be respectful. And it's produced some intense television, too.

Watch that, and tell me that's not friggin' intense. 3nodding heart

I find what Whoopi Goldburg said funny. Why? Because it shows what a terrible person she is. She has had a number of abortions (I remember her talking in an act about having at least 3) and yet she says it "is such a hard decision" obviously not hard enough to make at least 3 times though.

The one thing about this exchange that rubbed me the wrong was when Whoopi was like, "show some reverence for the women who have gone through this." Nobody is denying stuff happens, there are women who, before abortion was legal, mutilated themselves with coat hangers and bled to death or even became sterile. The point is, that was during a completely different time when there was also little access to birth control, and sex still maintained a cultural mystique that I think we got rid of about twenty-five years ago. If women have the wherewithal to wait or opt entirely out of marriage -- because they don't have to fulfill traditional roles anymore -- surely they understand the concept of abstinence and bridling their sexual activity to avoid the painful endeavor that is an abortion. I don't know what's more offensive: the fact that some people think women's reasons for abortion are crappy, or the idea that modern women still need them in the first place.
