AvengedSoul Some of my favorites would have to be An American Werewolf In London, Ginger Snaps, and probably Silver Bullet. Out of curiousity has anyone seen The Boy Who Cried Werewolf? blaugh I've heard of it.

Damn. Oh well. Before this thread dies, I'll pump this into your thick skulls: People always say that whenever anybody turns into a werewolf, it's because of the Full Moon. That's pure Bullshit. The full moon has nothing to do with werewolf transformations. It was made up by Curt Siodmack for The Wolfman. In order to turn into a wolf, a WOLF BELT, which is made from a Wolf's hide, is needed. If there ever was a Werewolf, (which is highly unlikely) that's the way it was done.

Well, it was a gift from the devil. There are a couple of stories that are pretty disturbing...if you believe that mumbo jumbo. You're a Paul Naschy AND Barbara Steele fan ? I'm impressed! biggrin

I'm impressed! biggrin hmmm...the devils kind of lost his edge these days. Now viruses, those are scary which is why the whole being bitten thing makes werewolves as frightening as they are. You may live through the ordeal but you're screwed for the rest of your life if it even gets a nibble. Yeah, they're awesome. smile I mostly just like how the picture says "Warning! See it with someone who's shockproof!" but the movie was excellent too.

I've read accounts from around the 1700's (for fun and to research a paper) that say there is definitely some type of wolf fur (pelt, belt) and also oils and incatations that people would use, and in some stories there are creatures riding black horses and wearing black cloaks.

The movie "Dog Soldiers" was my favorite werewolf movie... I think they made the idea of a werewolf being a stealthy killer really good...

The full moon wouldn't be ideal in any legend since it is more aligned with white magic.
I don't really have a favorite werewolf movie at the moment since I don't like anything I've seen besides The Wolfman.

Admittedly I know a lot about vampyre, but little beyond film lore when it comes to our favorite wolves. wink On another note though, I have seen quite a few werewolf films, most of which I didn't enjoy. A very underrated film that I enjoyed quite a bit was "Silver Bullet." I was not scared by many horror films as a child, I was pretty off there, but this did scare me. The film opens up with a mauling, resulting in a decapitation. I am not one for gore, I think it makes a movie usually over done, but this movie I enjoyed. I can like gore, IF it has a point to it (I'm sure eventually I will rant on the modern day horror/gore subject sometime soon). I still think the best werewolf film to date is the classic Lon Chaney Jr. film, "The Wolf man." Not scary by today's standards, but just incredible classic and unique for its day. I also enjoyed "American werewolf in London", though it was more satirical. I like the new "look" of the werewolf, which is being more incorporated into film though, just not the films themselves. Actually I think a great example of the new look of the werewolf, (though its not actually new, just went through different stages) is in the last Harry Potter film. I'm not a huge "Pot Head" (my nickname for the fans wink ) but I don't hate it either. The wolf looked great, more like a hybrid of a man and a wolf as opposed to pure wolf or pure hairy man.

Both of you are forgetting one movie: Curse of The Werewolf, with Oliver Reed, the best film to be made since Lon Chaney Jr's "The Wolf Man" Gawd, What Happened?
