“Mocking you? Would I do that?” Raleigh grinned and shook his head, attempting to give off an innocent air but failing completely. “And I’ll have you know that my attention span is 4 seconds long.” During their time apart Raleigh had apparently discovered the ability to laugh at himself, to some extent anyway; his prideful arrogance was still intact.
Now that he had some room, he sat up straighter and he locked his arms behind his head. At the question he gave the lightest of shrugs. “They’ve had me doing their dirty work of course. Fighting various evildoers… that sort of thing.” Raleigh gave the slightest of frowns as he remembered his various ‘missions’. “Other than that; training, cooking, cleaning, and taking care of a two year old. Ruri is completely incapable of running a household.” He wondered briefly about his lack of social life, but it certainly didn’t bother him.
Then Charles began talking. So, these coals were actually going to turn into something? Raleigh brought his own piece out of his pocket and looked it over. It seemed slightly similar to his powers, creating a living creature out of another material, yet still extremely different. He hadn’t learnt how to use stone yet, though he gave it pretty good try every training session. What would the creature look like?
Ruri had made her way over to the sofas the second they appeared and looking at the food as if she hadn’t eaten for a week.

The twins listened as Charles explained why they were all there and what the deal was about the lumps of coal. Neither boy kept up with the news (something they should probably change) and so each stared at his own lump for a long moment.
After Susan spoke, Kaden leaned closer to his twin. "You know, I'm not sure what the big deal is all about. If Susan says they're harmless, I believe her." The quieter twin was the first that Susan had gained the trust of. If she said something, he'd believe her. Keagan was most often inclined to believe as well, though he was not as easily swayed as his brother.
"I agree. Whoever this Robbie is... if he's a friend of Susan's, he's gotta be cool," Keagan muttered back as the twins migrated to the food table. They seemed to have an instinct on when food was around. Food plus two football players always resulted in... well, less food.

Potential threat? Jasmine stared at the older man in disbelief. Could her really be scared of harmless rocks? She shook her head as she looked away. Charles really just seemed like a superstitious scardy-cat by her eyes now- he probably wouldn't walk near a black cat, crack, or ladder, even at his age. She nodded at the time frame, however, tracing her fingers over the coal yet again. “Thirty to sixty minutes, huh? I guess I'll see you soon.” She mused to her coal.
“You can use my real name, I don't really care.” Jasmine wrote when she received her book again. She had noticed that he had only used his nickname, but she didn't really want to delve into the subject- it was probably something he didn't want to share, anyway. “Portland cement? Is it like pure rock or is it like the normal stuff you can buy at those home improvement stores?” She handed the book again.
Jasmine stared at the cement for a while as he showcased his abilities, but stopping when the announcement was made, then stared at him as it took her a couple of more seconds than it should to process that he had made a comment about her coal. “Yeah. At first, I thought it was just a stupid joke...” She wrote when she received her book again.
Her eyes, however, drifted to the new additions to the room as she waited for his reply. She was never really hungry, but grabbing a couple nibbles of some Christmas food while she wrote to people wouldn't be to bad, but she wouldn't dare move until Graveler finished.

"Which name would you prefer that I use?" he said after skimming the text. "As to the cement, it's the standard variety used in pretty much all building materials." Again he was quoting Susan's lecture. Sometimes it honestly felt like he was becoming some bizarre mix of a geologist and architect rather than a superhero. "Now, if it were pure rock I'd be able to do just about anything with it."
When he received the notebook back he nodded. "Yeah, not a big believer in Santa or Christmas for that matter. I thought that Susan was trying to drop a subtle hint about how poorly practice went the other day."
He rolled the coal in his right hand and was sorely tempted to shift it's shape to something more pleasing to the eye. At the moment it looked as though the short bus had arrived in time for a barbecue. He would wait for her to reply and if he could tell she wanted to wrap things up and say hi to the others he'd let her slip off and do her thing.

"Nah ya probably wouldn't have... I think we only met once when I was chatting with..." It was then she noticed the other who had entered into the room. "Heya Erol!" She cheerfully waved at him before turning away, distracted by the newcomers. After giving them a friendly smile and nod of the head she turned back to see Raleigh and Erol facing off. With a grin she waited until she heard Erol ask about what she had been doing. "Oh I've been here and there... mostly there than here." She grinned before diving into telling him about taking a semester off school to study abroad in England which was originally her home. It was funny how at home she felt though, upon coming back she had realized that America was now her home too, even if she had moved around a bit since arriving here. Luckily, Joshua was pretty open about moving so she hadn't really had much need to adapt to very different locals. In fact it was only Ace she had a chance to meet up with on occasion, not that she mentioned that though...
But then her train of though was interrupted by Charles. Something about the coal they had been given turning into rabbits? Well she had always wanted another pet other than Immi. She had been surprised the small beta had survived so well but upon her arrival the little fish was still swimming, it was almost as if she would live as long as the water was kept fresh.

Her hands slowly hovered around the the paper as she thought of what to say. Her mind was somewhat drifting, as she was reminded of some of her training a few days back and also a small scent of caffeine reminded her of a one-act play by Leon Kaye called The Coffee House- a play that really caught her attention because it was laced with classy, theater-related humor that was rare. As she was brought back into real life, she jotted down answers. “As I said- I don't really care. You can use whatever is more comfortable for you. And that cement is the same used in the just-add-water stuff?”
Jasmine tried her best not to laugh at his joke on his training. When she got the paper back, she wrote again. “I thought it was just someone being sarcastic, but your's is a lot funnier.” The girl fiddled with a button on her maroon coat, trying to make sure it wouldn't fall off. She had been practically pushed out of the house by her mom and aunt, who wanted to break the anti-social bubble she was currently in, but they didn't give her any warning of when she was going, so she didn't have time to make sure her clothes were not on backwards, or even worse.

She was stubborn, most supers were, so it wasn't a big surprise. He'd keep things formal for now. "Yeah, just your everyday 'just-add-water' limestone mix." He passed back the parchment also taking note of her restraint. He'd also noticed she wasn't deaf, she hadn't been reading his lips.
"Well it wouldn't have surprised me either way. I lost focus yesterday and put a nice size hole in the ceiling. Next thing I know Susan's handing me charcoal." Once more he watched her eyes through his obscuring goggles. Curiosity got the better of his manners. "Pardon my asking but can you speak or is it tied to your powers somehow? I mean 'Echo' gives off a whole sonic vibe to it."

"Just the typical little house wife, aren't ya?" Erol couldn't help ruffling Raleigh's hair with that comment before jumping out of the way of any attacks. Listening to his story brought some much needed grounding for Erol who seemed to always be on the move.
He was genuinely intrigued by Candice's side story about her life. It looked like she got a chance to move around a bit as well. He shrugged at telling his own story just mentioning the usual, training, gigs, more training, more gigs, some villains to thwart and so on, and so forth...
With Charles' annoucement he glared at the piece of coal in his hand shaking it rather violently. Hopefully the poor critter wouldn't go brain dead from such a shock but Erol didn't believe in most things until he saw the results. "Right. Like I have time to take care of some pet. Man this sucks." He groaned as he put the coal in his pocket once more. "I'm hungry, when can we eat?" And almost like clockwork the festivities had begun at the end of Charles' announcement. Making a B-line for the buffet table he hurriedly piled on the food making his way to some lonely corner to enjoy his meal.
Anyone was more than welcomed to join him, he wouldn't bite...much.

Jasmine merely smiled at his question. She had decided a while back that for the sake of her sanity and the sanity of others- she would not take such questions as a personal offense, but that of morbid curiosity. “Well, I'm not sure how far my powers can really stretch at this point, but people here say its called 'voice manipulation'. But its just either damaging eardrums or lulling people to sleep with sound vibrations that come from my voice. Right now, though, I'm not able to control and change the vibrations to where I am able to talk.” The silent girl handed Graveler the book. A quote that seemed to have been echoing in her brain began to sound again, trying to remind her how weird not being able to fully speak was. “Words can change the world, but silence speaks out the most....” Jasmine snarled at the quote, knowing that it was only trying to piss her off- yet she would not ignore it, but reacting just as it wanted her to.

His eyes scanned the page and as he read the words she'd written ideas formulated back and forth across his mind like arc lightning. Could her sonic ability be recorded and have the same effect? Was she suseptable to her own powers? How loud could she scream? Had she ever considered making childrens bedtime stories for stressed out parents (an instant success)? Did she wonder about it's practical and unpractical uses like LoQuinn did with his? How could he defeat her? If he were to take out her voicebox (either surgically remove it or simply punch her in the throat) would her powers still work? What was it's range? Could it be exploited?
"Well thats a pretty bitchin' power you got there." he said plainly with a bob of his head as he handed the book back. He brushed his thoughts off to the side for later when he could pick them apart at his own liesure. He made a mental note to communicate with all the party's attendees for the similar purpose of getting to know their powers in addition to the Super. He would disect their abilities later in the privacy of his room. It never hurt to be prepared.
"I find that control, for me anyways, came fastest when I focused on perfecting one aspect. I'm not sure how you're training but perhaps if you focused on finding the right frequency for one sound the rest will fall into place easier. I don't mean to compare you to a child but simple sounds like 'Dad' are usually the first to be learned. Perhaps starting from square one will help you out." Hopefully she didn't think it too presumptuous that he was giving her advice on her powers. Then again he'd started with a pebble of pure stone and was using the same process for sythetics.
He couldn't help but remember a proverb from when he was younger. 'Little ant,' it read 'today you move a grain of sand. Tomorrow you will do the same. A thousand times a thousand. All mountains begin this way.'

“Yeah, not being able to talk- pretty bitchin'.” Jasmine choked back the mean thought, not wanting to make the man feel stupid. But as soon as the following lecture began, she held back much more negative thoughts- since ending a Christmas party with a punch in the face didn't sound too pleasant, and plus it would cause a commotion. Instead, she tilted her head down and rose her eyebrows for an impatient expression on her face, showing that the lecture was not necessary. Shaking her head slightly as he finished, she began to write. “Thanks for the info.” She wrote briefly, although the tone of which she created with her face gave enough information to Graveler- or she hoped.
Her eyes slowly began to roam the room when she finished, since it had become quiet for the most part. The light blue orbs then focused on a blond boy who had found the food and promptly sat in a corner. Of course, she had noticed some of the younger's hesitation to speak with each other and pretty much sucked some of the fun out of the entire shin-dig. Jasmine really did not want to be the one to break the awkward silence, but she would if she had to. And as her conversation with Graveler continued, she guessed that, if she did start to communicate with others, she would run out of paper by the end of the night. It was kind of sucky that one's speaking was being held on a short wire.

((XD Foots in the mouth at first meeting. Really, it should be one of his secondary abilities.))
He'd done something wrong, said something off. His goggles hid the fact that he was searching her with his eyes. He wasn't quite as dense as the stone he manipulated but reading people wasn't exactly his forte so he remained clueless as to the what he'd done. The thought never occured to him that he'd been insensitive to her situation or that she hardly came here to be lectured by another trainee. He was likely to remain oblivious if she never corrected him. Such was life.
"Uh, yeah. You're welcome." he said trying to shift his mind away from the crashing and burning that had just commenced. Only distance would save him from additional embarrasment. "Well. I've got to go meander a bit, it was nice meeting you Echo." He almost ended with something along the lines of 'keep up the good work' or 'hopefully you'll be able to talk soon'. And somewhere deep, very deep he supressed the urge to invite her to start up a rock band. He was backing away by shifting his weight from foot to foot. Nonchalantly putting distance between himself and her allowing her to scribble out a quick farewell. He wondered if running away from a mute's sketchpad was like covering your mouth or putting you hands in your pockets when talking to a deaf person.
Yep, LoQuinn was going to hell.

So, another crazy creature was going to running around the house? Since she was already foot deep with Raleigh’s myriad of creations, Ruri certainly didn’t think too much about Charles’ announcement. Though she was glad it wasn’t going to s**t on the carpet. Right now Ruri was happily munching away on all the food she could get her hands. When the two twins approached she looked up long enough to give them a playful wink. “Hey boys, try the twinkies.”
Raleigh didn’t retaliate; he simply raised one eyebrow and once Erol had jumped away, lifted a hand to make sure his hair hadn’t been messed up too badly. Then Candice was talking… a lot. Raleigh tuned in and out of the conversation, his expression vague.
The coal was placed back into his pocket for safekeeping after Charles had finished speaking. “It’s not as if you actually have to look after it. Technically it won’t be alive.” He said with a shrug and then watched as Erol made his way over to the food. Raleigh wasn’t particularly hungry, so he took his time meandering over. Eventually he would join Erol in his little corner, but first he wanted take a quick look at these newcomers. A bit of reconnaissance so to speak.
Raleigh looked over at the closest two from his position; a boy and girl which appeared to have just finished a conversation. He quickly imposed himself amongst them, before the boy could escape, as his backwards walking had suggested. “Hey.” He said by way of greeting, an odd half smile on his face. "Enjoying the party?"

A set of brown eyes scanned the room carefully, watching as each child conversed and mingled with others. Teeth digging into a tender morsel of chicken just as his eyes stopped on a kid with goggles. There was nothing of outward importance of the child but Erol knew better then to asume anything of a person. He watched the boy converse with the mute girl (or so it appeared) by way of her writing some sort of dialogue on the sketchpad she carried. He wondered about her as well, thinking over various possible abilities she could be "cursed" with.
When Raleigh had come over for a brief moment he knew what the other boy was up to as well. Both deciding it best to know one's competition (at least for Erol that's all the others were, Ra being the only one worthy of his respect... for now). Opening his mouth he continued to stuff his face with food, deciding he would follow Ra about like an irritating stray mutt. Erol joined Ra in greeting the other but his manners had a lot to be desired as he gave a belching, "S'uuuuuup?"

It had not been long after Graveler's speaking that her thoughts registered how rude she had been. He had only tried to help, and she took it as if he were insulting her! Jasmine quickly rose as he began to back away, and began mumbling to him without thinking. “Look, I... I'm-” She covered her mouth, staggering back to her seat. She snatched away her notebook from the tabel with a sigh, and wrote with a sense of urgency. “I'm... Sorry if that was mean... And I didn't mean to say anything- are you hurt?” The girl gave him the book, looking worried about his health. She didn't know if she had hurt the boy or not, so she mused curses in her mind for doing what she did.
It was then that she noticed the two boys that had sneaked up behind Graveler and began to greet them. Jasmine gave the two a confused stare, nodding her head to the brown-headed one and just blinking at the blond.
