Fiona took a step back, a quick step back, when the flame turned into a whip and swung at Andy. Just before she closed her eyes, not wanting to see him get hit, it stopped and she heard a woman's voice from the doorway. Turning she saw the Super responsible for the whip. It was Firesnare, a Super she had seen a few times on tv.

"Y-yes, I'm Fiona..." She managed to stammer, in complete awe of the fire super. Was this who Andy had been talking about earlier? But she thought that was suppose to be Jackie! Oh who cares Firesnare was in front of her and talking to her!

Firesnare didn't quite smile at Fiona, but her look did soften, "It's good to meet you. Another fire evolved. That is wonderful." Firesnare let go of some of the fire so it expanded near Fiona, "What is it like, to be able to control it? What do you think? Can you show me what you do?" And now she let it a small portion leap from her control to the paper in Andy's hand. Andy dropped it on the ground and gllllaaaarrreeed.

All these questions! Fiona was still getting over the 'excitement' that had just happened. She didn't know that she was probably going to regret ever setting foot into this new world if all the people acted like this when she first met them.

Unsure of herself Fiona had a hard time grasping onto the flames. "I-I usually get control of it when I have a strong emotion...." she mumbled. Trying to take her strong feeling of uncertainty and using it to her advantage she reached out for the fire with her power and caught it morphing it into a miniature copy of a person..... That was very lopsided.... And didn't really look like a person at all anymore, just a ball of fire levitating a little ways of the ground.

Andy turned and walked clearly around and out of the range of fire toward the edge of the room now, sitting to observe the two together.

"Wow!" Firesnare honestly sounded impressed, "You've been training alone, have you, or do you just manage that? That is... wow. How old are you? How long have you had your powers, has anyone helped with them? Andy, make yourself helpful and get a bucket of water for the flames. So you shape fire and move it. How does it feel to you?" She spoke encouragingly now, the harsh tone gone.

Fiona blushed, she thought that was a horrible display after what Firesnare did. She always brushed off her family's praise since they just did that to get her to do whatever she had done again. Atleast tat were her siblings motives.

"I've had my powers for about 4 to have 5 years." she managed to say. "I'm going to be 17 soon. I trained by myself for most of the time, though I've never done anything bigger then a lighter flame."

"Well, that is very impressive for someone who has not had any official training. It'll be fun to work with you, when I'm able to, but I can be rather busy... Thank you, Andy." Firesnare took some of the flame and doused it in the water he brought over. "So, you've only used emotion to control? That's not so good. We should figure out how to get you to control it without emotion. I don't feel this way, but a LOT of elemental evolveds say that their elements talk with them. Sir Aquifer says that, that the water is always letting him know it's there." She frowned as she spoke. That sounded a little like he should go insane any day now to her though, "I... can feel the fire, like there's a great power there, and I can feel my abilities, so I can maneuver them. It's not all about emotion. You have to find another way. There must be something?"

"I imagine my abilities," Andy put in helpfully, "I can visualize them and make them work that way, and it's just like a normal extension of who I am, like controlling myself in walking or breathing or something similar."

"Well I first found out about my power when I was visualizing my new dog and the candle flame turned into a dog and ran around till it died....." she said, trying to think of something. "I also remember feeling something, b-but I'm not sure what it was..."

She had always depended on her emotions for her power and to untrain herself was going to be hard. "Will it be hard to learn a new way to control it?" she asked worried.

Firesnare shrugged, "Who knows?"

"It depends on how much o'a mental block ya got," Andy offered, "If ya can't get past the idea that you can't user yer powers unless you're upset, then you're gonna have some major problems. If you're open to listenin' to yerself, then it'll be easier. You're still young, so it shouldn't be so bad. It's like...when you get to be in yer mid-20s that it gets to be a problem if you ain't don't something with it."

Firesnare shrugged, "Who knows?" She repeated, "Evolved powers aren't down to a science yet, but you keep trying to feel them correctly and the trainers will help you. Can you try to make a dog now?" She moved the fire nearer again.

"Okay I think I can do that." Fiona said after listening. She had used her own emotions against herself and she had never thought that was possible before. It would take some practice to get over her block but she believed she could do it.

"I-I think it would be easier for me if I sat down. I was resting when it happened." she said nervously. She sat down a little further away from the fire then she had been from the candle and tried to remember how she felt at that moment. She visualized a dog she had wanted, a cute Great Dane puppy, and stared at the fire through half-closed eyes. The longer she stared the more it looked like every crackle and spit was significant, like part of a dance and it was inviting her to join it. She had the urge to reach out to it but held back, she didn't feel like looking like an idiot just yet. She began to feel stupid at staring at the flames and only seeing them dance. Her frustration was beginning to break her concentration and oozed out into the fire, making it jump. It had merged both her images, the dancer and the dog, into one thing for a moment before collapsing.

"Oh dear..." Fiona muttered embarrassed. "It's harder then I thought...."

The images had been too inconclusive for either Firesnare or Andy to understand what they were. Perhaps to her they had looked like a dancer/dog cross, to them it had just been a blob of fire. But it was more significant to Firesnare than it was to Andy. She had a better understanding of the fire.

"That was a good try. Perhaps we should start with something smaller. Just trying to get the flames to go in one direction, or sprout out bigger."

"Or maybe we should concentrate on her makin' 'em go away." Andy said, "Ain't that the point, make her more aware of goin' smaller instead of bigger?"

Firesnare looked impatient with Andy, but shrugged, "Whichever you want to try?" She offered to Fiona.

Fiona was getting all confused, the adults' ideas were all new to her. She wondered why they had to argue over such matters and couldn't just tell her what to do.

"I think I'll try making things smaller." she decided uneasily. She believed the flames she used were already small enough, but her fears of the fire going out of control were still strong.

She focused on the flame again, trying to keep her emotions away from it. She clenched her fists tight, as if to keep them in her grasp. The fire began to dance again, like it had earlier, and again she had the urge to join in. With a clamp down on her feelings she took a deep breath and tried to reach out with her mind to it and force it to shrink away. The fire seemed to shiver a bit before pulling away from her and growing bigger, almost feeling angry to her. She gasped pulled away from it.

"I-I think I made it mad!" she stammered without thinking. "Wait, fire doesn't have feelings.. I guess I just got mad at myself and it got out into the fire again.... I'm sorry..." She didn't want to look at the adults and stared at her hands.

"Made it mad?" Andy echoed, "Heh, a mental block m'be? Are ya upset about things? Perhaps it's targeting sort of inner---"

"Perhaps her powers are to fuel fire and not to lessen it," Firesnare pointedly interrupted, sighing at Andy, "I bet you could expand it." She insisted.

Andy frowned, "I don't think---"

"Hey, look, which of us is the fire evolved? That's right, it's me. If you're scared, how about taking a few steps back?" Firesnare didn't have to glare very long before Andy put his hands in his pockets and looked down. She turned back to Fiona, "Try and make it larger?" Her voice was far more encouraging to the teenager than the man that had picked Fiona up.

God it was like a fight between her brother and sister would have. Fiona found that slightly amusing, making her feel slightly better about her failure. She still felt a bit sorry for Andy though.

"Okay, I'll try making it larger....." she turned back to the fire and tried again. Clamping down on her emotions was becoming a bit easier, but she knew she would have to learn how to not use them automatically later. Taking a deep breath she focused all of her attention towards the flames, watching them jump and sway. She reached out again with her mind, encouraging it to grow and become larger. This time the flames seemed to accept her command and grew slightly larger, dancing to Fiona faster, more excitedly.

"D-did I do it?" she stammered, excited and nervous at the reaction of the flames.

"Looks like it to me," Firesnare nodded, "Keep trying, really concentrate on them and try to get them to fuel up."

"Try givin' them some of your excitement back." Andy suggested hurriedly, as if talking quicker would lessen the likelihood of Firesnare snapping at him.

Use your emotions, don't use your emotions, stick to one plan people! Was this how it always was, Fiona wondered.

"It's coming easier now...." she stated before going back to the fire. Staring and clamping came easier again and concentrating on the flames wasn't really that hard. Now how to fuel it up. Giving an inward sigh, Fiona reached out nervously with her mind. The fire danced a welcome to her again, and she had to restrain from speaking out loud to it. Instead she tried to encourage to grow larger again. It happily obliged and grew slightly larger again. That wouldn't do, they wanted it to grow bigger. Remembering what Andy had said she tried to get the excitement again and gave a little to the fire, telling it to grow. The flames jumped up quickly, eagerly consuming the excitement and making it it's own.

The speed of the flames coming up made Fiona jump back a little. She wasn't expecting it to happen like that. Maybe a slow growth, but not almost instantaneous. "B-better?" she asked, wondering if she should tell them she used Andy's suggestion.
