Just the norm. "Don't wear anything that would make you look like a prostitute."
Only it escalated. We weren't allowed to wear peacoats, trenchcoats, nor were we to wear anything with the iron cross on it. (That mean, no Industrial brand clothing, no vintage Iron Maiden shirts...e.e)
I'm so glad I'm out of high school now.

Because I go to a private school, we have uniforms. Red, Blue or white polo shirts w/ logo (white w/out logo is fine, though), khaki shorts, plaid skirt, navy blue or red cardigan, V-necks, or navy blue Vests w/ blouse.
Yesterday, I was told by my teacher that multi-colored flat shoes weren't allowed- only single colored! How retarded is that?
The girls in my class (excluding me and my group of friends) have a too-high-skirt problem. They need to realize that nobody wants to see their butt. Seriously......

Am I the only douche around here that doesn't give a s**t about the dress codes I had at my school?
I guess those that like to show off their a** cracks, thongs, their Scooby boxers and just about everything else that makes you look like the morons you see constantly on TV would be the ones that would b***h about it. :/
The schools have their dress codes because they want to keep their environment appropriate and professional.
They're getting you ready for whatever job you plan on getting in the future; likely a job where you won't be allowed to wear those shitty designer jeans that you spent way too much money on.
Excuse them if they're not getting you ready to work at your local Hooters.
As long as girl jeans get lower, skirts get shorter, and boys pants get so tight that their junk is showing, it's likely the school dress codes will become stricter.
So boo ******** woo. You have to wear certain clothes to school. You can always change out of those clothes after school and wear whatever the hell you want on the weekends.

'Homeschooled. As long as I am covered I am fine. :3
But for groups (known as co-ops) and such there are some clothing rules. -No chains -No skulls -No short skirts or shorts -No tanks/spaghetti straps
Those are the main rules. ^-^ I don't mind them though, the only one that betrays my appearance is the "no skulls" since I luff my rhinestone skull necklace. talk2hand They could care less about hair and make-up as long as you don't look like Jeffree Star.

 So give me something to believe... &&&&My school has a "dress code". Basically no offensive shirts, no spaghetti straps, no bras or boxers showing, no short shorts or skirts, ect. Common sense really. You know what though? People don't follow it. I see so many girls with spaghetti straps, and such and the administration does nothing. e.e;
Probably the day I try to get away with it, they'll crack down and suspend me or something. D:&&&& Cause I am living just to breathe...

I called her on the phone and she touched herself... When I was in high school the dress code was a lot like Minoko's just common sense and it depends on the teacher whether they'd enforce it or not.
Neko: Might I ask what the hell are "extreme trousers"? ...I laughed myself to sleep.

QFT.
Hidden Curriculum. Once you grow up, you most likely won't wear casual clothing at many of the places you're going to work at. And if you do, don't expect to keep that job for long.

[ ] Since my school's dress code doesn't conflict with anything that I wear normally in public, I don't really think about it too much. The administration only seems to notice hats, even though we have the 4 B's (No butts, backs, bellies, or breasts) rule in effect. Really, I'm more offended when I see someone's thong sticking out. I could care less if I saw a person wearing a stupid hat. O.o [ ]

Spectral in heaven as climbs the frail veiled moon, I have to agree with cosplayboi and Noi here. Seriously you aren't at school for a bloody fashion show, you are there to learn. What I never got over was how discriminatory other students were about clothing. Clothing shouldn't identify who a person truly is inside. The unfortunate part of high school: it completely does. Besides I don't know why kids b***h about uniforms.. most of them dress the same way anyway and end up wearing a "uniform" whether or not they realize it. So climbs my dream. -William Rose Benet

Yeah. There okay in some situations, but at my school, it's more if you wear more innappropriate things(like a cami that reaches 3/4 down your chest) Although I don't get why we can't show our shoulders stare But I always get away with wearing bandannas!

Put me to sleep evil angel. Open your wings evil angel. All of you.. I bet my dress code is really bad. Here's what we have to wear =/ :
White, navy or light blue polo shirt, all but one button buttoned.
Khaki or navy pants, must not show crack or undies
Skirts and shorts can not go above or below the knee by 2"
Hoodies must be off the second you get into the building
Even if the sweater is a school color, but it has a hood, you can't wear it.
Socks must be one solid color
Shoes, they must have a back on them
Undershirts must be white, and musty not be seen through your polo.
Your hair can not have any 'unnatural' colors in it.
Make up can not be heavy, and must not "distract" the other students.
Can not have more than one ear piercing. And ear piercing only, no body piercings.
And sadly enough, they say this about body piercings, but they don't saw anything about tattoos. That's f'ed up.
So basically, my school is strict as shiz. I can't wait to get outta there!! D< Fly over me evil angel. Why can't I breathe evil angel?

`Our dress code isn't actually that bad. There's no limit to how thick your sleeves have to be, as long as you can't see a girl's bra strap or a guy's armpits. =/ For skirts and shorts, if you put your hands down straight at your sides and you touch skin, it's supposedly too short, but I think that's retarded because some people have long arms. =/ Not that it matters for me, because I don't wear shorts or skirts...
We also have rules against guys having their pants around their knees or anywhere else that allows boxers to show, and girls aren't supposed to show stomachs or cleavage, but you'd be amazed at how little the dress code is enforced at my school..
So really, I have no complaints. =D
