So stubbornness was all they had to lean on? That's what Reno had said, and that was what Arina said she was holding on to as well. That was that, then. Reno closed his eyes for a moment as he tried to block out the continuous waves of throbbing and stinging pain that came with every movement he made. Whatever happened happened. He was not too optimistic in the sense that anyone was going to rescue them, but he did hope he could at least hold out. However, there was another sound of footsteps coming near his cell, and he felt his body go rigid again.

There was a noise on the lock, and then the door slid open. He did not remember this man's face, but as soon as that door opened, Reno got to his feet, pain or no pain. He was not familiar in any sense. But he couldn't remember the last person's face, either, or any of the faces before that. Maybe they were all the same? But Reno couldn't move anymore. He was so tired. He knew what was going to come and there was nothing he was going to be able to do to get out of it. He didn't like the way this man carried himself. He was obviously trying to intimidate Reno.

Except this time, it was working.

He watched silently as gloves were slowly peeled off and thrown to the floor. He thought it was kind of funny, since most people like this character wouldn't want to get their hands "dirty" by touching "filthy" inmates. Then again, who knew. Maybe he was some mad, sadistic ********. They tended to be. Like Hojo. But he didn't want to think of that greasy haired ********. The man began to speak now. His face was still expressionless, but so was Reno's. He wasn't going to show any fear. He couldn't.

But suddenly, the man walked forward, and instead of just standing there and trying a different scare tactic, he all of a sudden had Reno's arm behind his back and his face was getting pushed into the cold cement that was his cell wall. He grunted very quietly and shut his eyes tight. Was that really necessary? It certainly hurt. "Cooperation my a**. You'll get me in a chair and still ******** me up whether I cooperate or not." His tone was in a low growl. He had resisted slightly against the bond that was Hyou's hand holding his arm back, but there was nothing he could do.

"At least you aren't as much of an idiot as you look. You're right, of course. No point in putting off the inevitable." The words themselves were steady and as neutral as his facial expressions. It was difficult to tell whether he derived any pleasure from his actions, though the faint flex of Reno's muscles as he attempted to put resistance to the grip was met with a grunt.

Hyou merely leaned his weight all the more casually against Reno's back, deftly pinning him in place in an almost lazy fashion, thumbs trailing down his wrist and stopping just as they reached the edge of his palm, thumbs suddenly pressing into the skin so that the thumbnails bit into his skin viciously, while his remaining fingers wasted no time in twisting his arm further behind him until there was a moist, unpleasant snap from his shoulder--the signal of a dislocated shoulder.

Unhurried, the man released him, stepping back to quietly survey him for the briefest of seconds before his hand drifted to his belt, withdrawing from the stiff leather a small, metal baton of sorts--blunt and dull at the end and sides, the faint light playing along the surface with a faint gleam. Irritance snapping clean-cut like breaking bones at the first low growl, floodgates opening and a single step forward putting just in enough distance, blunt end of the grip slamming into his windpipe.

"Well, it's not like I haven't been tortured before." Despite the seriousness of his situation, he couldn't help but smirk. Why couldn't everything just be a big joke? That's what life felt like. A ******** joke. This was all a big joke. The pain in his arm. In his legs. Just everything. He had opened his eyes now, despite the weight that Hyou was pushing onto him against the cold wall. He briefly wondered if Arina could hear any of this, if she knew what was going on. He had a strange feeling that something like this hadn't happened before. "You need to know what you're getting into!" While Hyou was busy sticking his fingernails into Reno's palm, which stung and felt somewhat like his palm was burning, Reno suddenly, violently, threw his head back into Hyou's, hopefully, face.

But whatever pain the back of Reno's head may have been feeling mattered not; he found his breath hitching and a muffled yell as he bit his tongue. Hyou had dislocated his shoulder. Whatever was happening currently, he didn't know, but Hyou had let go of him and Reno was feeling intensely isolated with the lack of contact. He couldn't see anything because he forgot he had closed his eyes so tightly from the pain. He held his dislocated shoulder and wanted so badly to just sit down, but he couldn't do it, because there was a metal stick slamming into his windpipe.

There was no noise; Reno couldn't even emit a gurgle as he fell to the floor, trying to breathe, trying to yell, to scream, to do anything. He couldn't even move. Amongst all that pain and suffering, he was completely and utterly shocked. He was under the impression that he was just going to suffocate; he couldn't catch his breath. What the ******** is this s**t. He was being completely crippled by this man and they hadn't even left the room yet.

"I wouldn't talk like that was some kind of accomplishment," Hyou remarked dryly. "Any useless slob can get beaten into the dirt. It doesn't take brains, or any particular skill."

The sudden backward thrust of Reno's head was unexpected, and before Hyou had time to react his jaws clicked shut audibly, pearly molars crushing into and locking down on inside of his cheek, breaking out over a full lower lip in a single red strand. The pain though, far from deterring the man, only made him feel nothing short of exhilarated. His otherwise resilient body peeled itself from it's state of momentary shock, no room for words except for one very obviously angered growl, and he began advancing instantly on fallen figure with the metal objected lifted over head, this time gripping at the handle and bringing the fat end slamming down into the direction of Reno's lower stomach.

His feet edged up then, the heel his shoe grinding casually down on fingers, with just enough pressure to hopefully cause them to break.

"Mutts have to be broken in somehow."

Well, at least his head had come in contact with something. He hoped it hurt real good, but it was obviously nothing even close to what he was receiving himself. Why any of this was necessary, he didn't know, and it wasn't necessary; it was just fun. He knew full well. But even as he could finally breathe once more, as ******** up as it was already, he didn't feel like breaking just yet. Like he had said. They'd have to kill him. Still, he felt like there was no purpose. He had no information to divulge, at least none that they were asking for. And there was currently no brainwashing. Just ******** him up.

The red head looked up at Hyou briefly when he realized he was being attacked again. The baton went right into his stomach, which was when he lost what little oxygen he had left. He doubled over again, holding his stomach with his left hand. He tried so hard to breathe. He was starting to panic. It was silent, secretive panic, but panic just the same. He wanted so badly to fight back.

Hyou was stepping on the fingers of his right hand, but he couldn't move his arm even if he wanted to. Instead, he pushed himself forward with what strength he could muster, which broke two of his fingers, only in an attempt to punch the man in the groin. If he could get him to double over, he could try and take the advantage and take the baton, using it against him.

Or he could just be making things worse for himself. He didn't really have anything to lose. It was going to be bad for him no matter what.

Arina had heard the sound of something hitting the wall early on...She didn't know quite what it had been, and thus ever since she had kept an ear pressed firmly to the cold cement...Someone was definately in there with Reno...Oddly though, she simply couldn't hear his voice. The other Turk she heard just fine, and she could hear something going on while the other spoke, but it was almost like her brain had decided not to hear what the other was saying...Until she managed to make out seven words.

"Mutts have to be broken in somehow."

...After all the time she had spent hearing phrases like "Shin Ra dogs," she didn't think that would bother her...but then again, it wasn't directed at her. She wanted to limit break, to slip through the non-existent crack under the door, or rip it down, or whatever she could manage, and show the other's tormentor some manners...but she couldn't. She had been outfitted soon after their arrival in the new location with three more golden bands, one on each remaining limb, to suppress her limits until Hojo wanted to run tests...

"Don't give up...just don't give up..."She muttered to herself, listening to the fight, and wanting in that instant nothing more than for the redhead to pull a surprise victory out of nowhere, like he was so well known to do...But in this case, she just wanted him to keep his word, and not let them change him...If one of them snapped, who would be left to keep the other sane? ...And with both of them lost to their captors intentions, there would be no one to bring them back to themselves.

The blow connected, and for a moment there was nothing to register it but the fractional dilation of Hyou's pupils and a sharp, hissing intake of breath through his teeth. The exhale was harsh and rushed, escaping his lungs in an almost breathless huff as he folded over, more of an instinctual move, his free hand shifting automatically to shelter his considerably aching groin.

A man with a lower constitution might have conceded defeat then and there--or at the very least backed off in order to access the damage and give himself a minute to breathe normally. But then, Hyou wouldn't be much of a hardened veteran if he allowed himself to be deterred by something as trivial and passing a thing as a little bit of pain.

And so his opposite hand shot forward once again, fingers tangling roughly in what remained of Reno's shortened hair, closing around the roots almost brutally as he once again gave an impatient, savage jerk of the man's head, directing his gaze upward. Lips pulling back from his teeth in a grimace, Hyou closed the minute distance between Reno's catlike crouching frame, body shifting to move Reno forward by fist and foot, until the beautiful face of the man had properly turned to him and immediately meeting it with his weapon. It swung into his mouth, pushing for teeth, every pound of muscle hurtling unforgiving steel into enamel and relishing in the dulled sounds of cracking.

[I think this is going to look very god-modish, but I was OK'd by Akemi. <3]

To say the least, Reno was elated. He took no time to gather his bearings, despite how badly his newly broken fingers felt, despite how bruised his stomach was, despite how his throat still hurt like a b***h... He pushed himself to his feet, with help from his left hand, and he pushed his whole being at Hyou in attempts to knock him to the floor. He needed some kind of advantage.

However, by the time Reno had gotten the man on the ground, Hyou already had his own bearings. Reno tried to get up off of the man so he could grab the weapon, but Hyou had grabbed his hair and was pulling him right back down. The weapon struck dead center. Reno had no idea what had broken, but his face felt like it was on fire. He hadn't been able to stop himself from yelling out. If it weren't for Hyou still holding on to his hair, he most likely would have been pushed across the room. He could feel the blood dripping down his chin and now he didn't even have the strength to keep his eyes open.

His body was more or less limp, and on top of Hyou no less. All that kept him up was the man's hand in his hair. There was no opening for him to do anything and he was already too exhausted from the broken bones. He was breathing pretty badly and spitting out blood.

Hyou was taken aback by the speed and momentum that Reno possessed, much less the simple fact that the man himself still had enough collected willpower to take the initiative in a counterattack. It was a bold move--and reckless, at that. Normally it would have earned him a grudging admiration of the man. However, at the moment all he could do was seethe as he found himself being, not only forced back, but overpowered and pressed to the ground entirely.

Hissing between his teeth, his spine curved slightly in an attempt to dislodge the man. But Reno was heavier than he looked, and so, for the time being, he was neatly pinned beneath him. But all attempts to forcibly move the ex-Turk from himself ceased as soon as Reno went limp in his hold, and a smirk that was nothing short of self-satisfied crept onto his lips.

Casually, as if they had all the time in the world, he thumbed a nearly hidden switch along the sleek side of the metal baton, the inner mechanisms clicking together with a soft, inaudible turning as a thin blade slid from the otherwise blunt end of the weapon.

Giving another pull of the man's handful of hair within his grip, he lifted Reno's head up further, slowly running the tip of the blade over the only splashes of color on an otherwise pale face. Gradually, his fingers applied just the faintest amount of pressure on the handle of the baton, causing the blade to dig just enough into his skin that it blanched, before the tip slid into the skin itself, tracing the subtle curve of color.

From one to the other, until the blood ran from his cheekbones, quickly racing to pool into the cervices of skin near his eyes. It would never do to permanently blind him of course; Hyou knew this all too well. But if the man was blinded by his own blood then it would make subduing him quickly and efficiently all that much easier.

His opposite hand lifted then, resting against Reno's dislocated shoulder in a faux comforting gesture, before the nails of his fingers dug in just beneath the rotator cuff and jerked, with the intent of snapping bone.

It was like a blanket of just...numb covered his whole body while he lie on top of Hyou. So numb, in fact, that he couldn't even lift the good limbs. For however many strands of hair Hyou may have been pulling out by lifting his head, there was a direct sense of apathy that Reno just could not shake. He had just suddenly lost any sense of will and power. He couldn't, didn't want to, muster up any kind of strength. There was nothing he could have done to get himself out of this situation...and he was going to get manipulated and mutilated no matter what he did, except maybe he'd get ten fold, depending on how he reacted. Hyou didn't just come into this cell to retrieve Reno... He had come in to ******** him up. And that's what he was doing.

Reno didn't even look twice at the blade that was coming so close to his face. When it slid across his cheek, his lashes didn't twitter. He did not move. The blade had sunk in, spilling blood down his cheeks like tears. The blade almost felt sweet on his skin, as ******** up and horrible it really was. He didn't cry out. What did it matter? So he would be scarred for life. Wasn't he already? He wouldn't even remember how he got those scars come next week. He wouldn't remember how he used to have long hair. He wouldn't remember Shin-Ra or being a Turk or that stupid b*****d Tseng. He wouldn't remember Mirage. He wouldn't remember Rude.

The blood hadn't quite gotten into his eyes, since he wasn't upside down or in any sort of angle for it to go upwards, but he could feel it mix in with the blood that was still on his lips. He was just a bloody mess. So what the ********? But when Hyou touched his right arm, the gentle feeling of numb just suddenly flashed away like lightning. His eyes went wide and he jerked with both adrenaline as well as fear, but it was too late. Reno screamed out. Hyou had broken his already dislocated arm. ********. ********. ******** class="postcontent-align-right" style="text-align: right">I'm in the same prison as you... User Image

Hyou was filled with an emotion similar to dissatisfaction. Of course, they all broke eventually--it was always a question of either minutes or hours in his presence before they did so--but eventually they attained their breaking point. It was slightly disappointing, though, that it had come so quickly for one of the so-called Turks. He gave mental shrug. He supposed it didn't really matter in the long run, as long as the job had been completed to specifications.

With an almost bored gesture, Hyou nudged Reno with the butt of the baton, grimacing slightly at the cries that had come from him. That was always so troublesome--the screaming. Though he supposed by now he should be accustomed to it. It wasn't that it provoked a sense of shame or guilt or least of all pity in the man;rather, he simply found it annoying, at best.

There was a low, almost imperceptible hum of a current of electricity emitting from the baton as he once again, with more impatience than before, nudged at Reno's body. There was a hissing crack as the baton pressed to the now broken arm, before the small volt of electrical energy discharged along the broken bone. It should have been enough of a shock to dislodge him entirely. Not that Hyou waited for him to move off by himself before briskly pushing him off and getting to his feet, bending over only to retrieve his gloves from where they still rested on the floor.

Without so much as a backward glance, he opened the cell door once more and stepped outside of it, shutting the door behind him with a ringing, rattling finality.

Arina waited until she heard for certain that the door had closed to try and get some information from the other Ex-Turk. "Reno, Reno what happened?"She asked, hoping he wasn't too injured to respond...After all that screaming she had heard, she couldn't be sure what kind of shape the redhead was in...The only safe assumption was that he was currently in a rather large amount of pain.

She waited for a response, and when she didn't get one, she tried again. "Come on...Say something, anything...."She said, worry and terror sinking into her being as she waited in the silence...What if Reno was dead? What if they'd taken him for another round of torture...? Would Reno actually be able to stand it?...Or what if he had snapped...? She didn't want to think about it...Arina tried to reassure herself that Reno had always been the most stubbornly willful of the Turks...There was no way that was the case...

The electricity from Hyou's baton had jolted him upward, but Hyou had already gotten up and walked away by the time Reno fell to the floor again. He hadn't been able to so much as make a sound. He had his eyes closed tight. He kept them that way even after the door shut and locked behind Hyou. He just lie there, his left arm cradling his right, his legs spread out. The blood from his face was slowly spilling onto the floor, getting into his hair, getting onto his rag of a shirt.

Reno could hear Arina, but he wasn't listening. He clenched his teeth and tried to slowly roll over, quietly hissing as he did so. He pulled his legs up so he was resting on his knees and he continued to cradle his broken and dislocated arm. He had gotten blood on his nose and forehead by this time, but he didn't even care. "******** you," he whispered. He rest his forehead on the cold concrete and some of his own blood. He didn't care. "******** you," he said, slightly louder. He lifted his head slightly and closed his eyes tight again. <******** you, ******** you..." He hit his head on the concrete. "******** you!!" He said this and slammed his head onto the floor three more times as tears spilled down his face from pain, anger and exhaustion. He did not, and would not sob. The tears left as quickly as they came. He felt all kinds of exposed and ******** up. On top of it, useless. But what could he do now but just sit there and take it? Once Hyou came back for him, to get him into that chair and really do his work, he wouldn't be able to do anything back.

It was just a matter of time.

After a good while of just sitting in that position, Reno finally pushed his shoulder back into location. He'd dislocated his shoulder plenty of times before, but breaking bones wasn't really something he did on a regular basis. He didn't have anything in the room to put it into a splint, and it wouldn't matter anyway. He figured, in a few hours or so, Hyou would just come back and do something more to it. Reno couldn't really move anymore anyway. He pulled himself away from the blood on the floor and finally just collapsed on the floor. He didn't know how he would possibly be able to sleep, but it was coming soon.

She sighed, relieved to hear anything coming out from behind the wall...And he was swearing. In Arina's mind, that was a good thing...That was a Reno thing. That was normal...Of course, even so, she couldn't help feeling a little bit demented for her relief...After all, she still had no idea what had happened to him aside from the obvious answer of something terrible.

However, for the moment, she was just glad he was breathing and apparently still at least somewhat himself. Somehow, just knowing that helped her relax a little, no matter how little it might have been.

“Understood,” came the swift reply as he exited, path made clear as he descended into the underground laboratory, easily caught sight of the unusual Raven in his black ensemble. Idly he motioned for the android to follow him, “Raven Deuce, come with me. We will be retrieving the Turk specimen B238. I leave her transport to you.” Easy, short. Moving through the various rooms without pause, nothing else needed to be said. Words were a waste of time.

Coming to a pause before the cell that contained the allocated specimen, he idly reached out to the electronic lock and command system implanted far from the door of this particular cell and entered code after code, until four mechanisms had been not displaced, but enacted. Smoothly they that’d been built into the chamber began to slide into motion. Every vent was sealed off, a secondary reinforcement to the door slid smoothly over the first door, and in a matter of 48 seconds, the entire chamber was air-tight. The secondary system was verily silent as it kicked into activity, and previously unnoticed slits slid open in vertical bands across the midsection of the chamber. Within moments more buttons were pressed, releasing several highly toxic, mentally inebriating, and likewise physically stimulating vapors that would soon overcome the natural air of the chamber and either land the specimen in throes of pain or send her into shock. With this particular combination, Trellon was aiming for the former, with enough harm to her mental cognition to effectively displace any efficient and potentially harmful actions on her behalf.

That, he planned on coaxing from her forcefully once she’d been removed from her cell.

“You may enter within sixty seconds and retrieve her. We’ll be moving her to another chamber garnered towards her experimentation,” he informed the Raven. Without waiting for a response, Trellon reached into his deep lab coat’s pocket and pulled out what seemed to be a normal latex glove enclosed in a flat pane of plastic with an opening at one end. Swiftly he slipped his hand into this opening, the plastic molding to his arm as the glove was pulled all the way up to his elbows. He followed suit with the other hand and then deftly peeled off the plastic, and the seemingly normal gloves now upon his arms, he pushed their covers into his pocket.

Silently a gentle tone sounded from the complex security system and lock in the wall, and slowly the door parted for Deuce. “Retrieve her for me, if you will. I’d rather not have to deal with her if it could be helped.” He gazed not at the Raven as he said this, but rather inside the chamber. Regardless what the result, the specimen would be on the floor by now, one way or another.
