Bloody hell, she had travelled quite a way.
Azumoth wasn't entirely certain of how to express himself at that moment in time. Had he been a good parent himself he would have blown his top however, neither of his daughters had been raised in the best way and thus...He had no right to speak. Instead, he could do nothing more than stare for a brief moment in time as he contemplated his next move.
He had a baby in his Grove, who lived a long way from here. Not so long if she could fly but as she had stated herself, the fluffy baby feathers stood little chance of supporting her and thus, the only way to return home would be to walk. He knew the endurance of babies were rather low and she wouldn't enjoy going home in the slightest but he could hardly keep her here.
Well he could, but how was he going to explain that to anyone?
He'd just end up with a headache.
"I see," he mused at last, the solution forming in his mind as he cracked his neck and released a sigh. All in all he had little other choice than to allow her to rest before walking her the entire way home. Peachy, he hated wandering outside of the forest but he would sooner stay by her in ase of predators.
"Some might call that foolish," he might as well lecture a little, "And very dangerous, I am sure your parents will be worried..."

*The silence seemed like a life time before it was broken and he spoke again to her. Though his words made her head sag to where it seemed that her nose would drag the ground if she walked. Her ears back she knew she shouldn't have wandered so far, but she was having fun chasing leaves and butterflies across the valley. Scuffing the ground with a hoof she looked back up without barely lifting her head from its downward position. Right now she wasn't the same happy go l lucky foal she had been, everything about cried, 'Cry-baby'.*
"Yes I know, but nothing came after me. If something had I..." She sighed looking back to the ground..
*She couldn't have done anything if a predator had come after her. She was small, defenseless, and very good eats to wolf and Kalona alike. Who knew what else was out there that fed on meat and anything that didn't have an adult to help defend. Shaking her head slowly she took in her misdeeds, knowing she would get an earful when she got home from both her mother and her father. She would surely be grounded and unable to leave their sights for a very long time.
Doomed to a life of supervision...
Walked over to what she thought was a soft place to lay down she scratched at the ground before folding her legs and laying herself down upon the ground. Her legs pulled in close, her wings stretched out a little at her sides like a small blanket. Her head laying on the ground, eyes barely half open. The dust on the ground stirred as she sighed. Her mind dreading the welcoming she would be getting, how her brother would tease her when he could do things she couldn't. It would never stop, never.*
"What am I to do? Mommy and Daddy will be so cross that I know i won't be able to leave their sights until I'm an old lady or something. My brother will tease me, I just now it. Why did I have to chase the butterflies so much." She sniffled to herself turning her head in such a way to tuck it under a wing. To hide the tears that were sure to come...

Ah crap...Azumoth knew that quavering voice well and lifted his eyes heavenwards in response to what he could only dread. Tears were his worst nightmare, never one to excel at comforting anything or anyone he would struggle to get the little filly to stop. She would disturb the peace of his Grove and give him an excruciating headache in the process!
Then again, it wasn't her fault. She was a babe, far away from home and now worried about the consequences of her actions. Though he sincerely doubted her parents would punish her to quite that extent they were most likely going to be rather unhappy. A lecture she would most likely receive but they would understand the antics of a baby wouldn't they?
Probably.
He certainly did and that spoke volumes in itself.
"Well, when you have rested up I suggest I take you home," Azumoth replied after a few moments of quiet consideration, mulling over the details in his mind. He wasn't delighted by the prospect of going across open slopes to unknown territory but he was less happy to let her walk home alone.
"Although honesty never hurt, if you explain what happened to you and why you disappeared I am sure they would be at least a little more accommodating?"

*She listened and then again, she didn't. Wica only heard most of what he had said, she didn't know what she would say to her parents, they were kind and loving, but there was always the stern side, Lucky. He seemed to be the one that kept all the rules, he would be the one to come down on her harder then her parents. She always had her secret place to hide if she had to. She also had friends she could go to if she needed to get away from home and the bear.*
"You don't know Lucky, he keeps all the rules. Where my parents are comforting, he's harsh." She whined from beneath her wing, the small feather ruffling a little at the edges.
*Pulling her head out from under her wing she looked back up at the stallion from where she had laid, wondering why he hadn't just told her to go home in the first place. He could have over looked her and just told her to go home, but she supposed that he was kinder then the other... Whatever it was that her father had met. One he tries scaring them about with stories. She couldn't remember his name, it was for the best anyways.
Shifting to merely collapse onto her side, Wica closed her eyes, thankful that the place was warmer then home. Warm like her secret place, she hoped that maybe her parents would go there if it got colder outside. But for now she would rest, letting the warmth seep into her still vague shivering body, the outside world was freezing and she hated it, too much.
For now, she slept...*

"Perhaps, but ultimately he is not your parent..." Azumoth murmured to the sleeping filly. It was perhaps a naive statement, but when if came to his daughters he was of the firm belief that he and he alone could discipline them - familiars, friends and companions did not have that rank in his eyes. Or rather, it wasn't so much a case of rank, it was more of a sense of boundaries...a bear was not a soquili, nor was a raccoon or a pair of birds.
...To have either of those three discipline a soquili was inappropriate... even if Moppet had raised him as a foal. He could always recall the discipline in times where it hadn't been needed, conflicting views and natures had resulted in misunderstandings. A raccoon simply didn't understand somethings and so, couldn't lay down the law. Such was his view and even his mother agreed with him.
However the view of Wica's parents could have been much different.
Nevertheless, choosing to pass his times with idle musings wasn't difficult as it was something he did on a regular basis. Hardly moving he waited patiently for the filly to rest and contemplated the most suitable route to take in order to return her to her abode. Unfortunately her wings lacked the strength to fly and so...he would once again find himselg out of the embrace of his forest.
This was turning into a habit!

She slept, it wasn't an easy one as she once and a while kick the air about her as if she were trying to get away from something. Tossing a little she came to lay upon her side, her pale colored mane and tail splashing against the ground as much as its small length could. Within her dream, there were many shadows, ones with red glowing eyes and flashing white teeth. She would cry, but no one would answer, she would run, but it didn't feel like she was getting anywhere.
Gold eyes springing open, she was upon her hooves faster then lightening it seemed as she looked around the grove she had been sleeping in. Despite the warmth that was best at this time year, she was coated with a cold swear. One would only wonder what had happened within her dreams to make her wake with a fright, as if sleeping caused her more pain then the waking world. Shaking her head a bit she let the termer slide down her back and out her tail causing it to snap gently behind her.
Her dreams faded into darkness from where they had formed, she looked somewhat refreshed even if she looked like she had been running for miles at a time. She wanted home now, she wanted her secret place and her family. Not that she wanted the cold again, but this place wasn't home, at least it wasn't her home...
Looking up at the dark stallion, she remained silent, distant fears flickered through her eyes as if the nightmares were more then what they were. Being of a young mind, Wica was bound to believe just about anything someone was to tell her. She hoped no one would question her, she didn't know if she could answer any more questions, not now at least. All she wanted was home...

Some things were best left unquestioned. Azumoth had endured his own series of nightmares, most during foalhood and he hadn't appreciated being probed by his adoptive mother. Instead he had isolated himself further and in doing so they had become worse. No doubt in time Wica would voice her worries to someone, evidently a creature she trusted but Azumoth was relatively certain that he wasn't that creature.
Nevertheless, as she awoke he opted to feign ignorance and with a small snort and a flick of his whip like tail he moved away from the foal slowly. Ensuring his pace was reasonably easy to keep up with he shifted the vines from the 'doorway' of the Grove and drifted through into the somewhat disenchanted forests. Not quite as green and filled with life as those of the lowlands but they did hold warmth given the fir trees that created a buffer against the elements.
"We have little time, small one." Azumoth voiced his thoughts at last, shifting his weight to glance over his shoulders a little, "I would prefer that we reach your home before night falls and for that we must move now." A small smile lining his lips, his expression was one of patience (for once) as opposed to the generally aloof and stoic expressions he seemed to favour on a more regular basis.

Starry eyes and bushy tailed, Wica silently followed behind Azumoth before coming to prance beside him. Her small stubby wings fluttering at her sides as she went, childish she was, but it was her nature to be of such. Though she didn't like the idea of going home, to the cold and to that... Bear. Snorting to herself, Wica continued her prancing before she merely just walked bored of her small one person game.
"Do you know how long it will take to get from here to there?" she asked looking up at him, her dark ears standing on the top of her head.
Turning her head toward where the sky would have been seen, though all there was were branches, she wondered what the sky did look like. Was it still blue when she came to these lands. Then she wondered if the colors had started appearing, she liked watching the sky change from a bright blue to pink, orange and gold and other darker colors. Silence again came to her as her mind drifted until something foreboding in her mind drove her back to the conscious world, really nearly bumping into a tree that suddenly appeared before her.
"Oh I wish it would go away..." Wica whined to herself wishing her dreams would stop haunting her while she was awake. "Go away and never come back." her head sagging a little, her ears back, she merely walked beside her guide.

He was a father, but not a very good one and ever the prcticalmale the idea and the very practice of 'comforting' someone was entirely new to him. In is mind that had always been the job of a female, or his mother to be precise...he was simply there to provide safety for those who came into his charge to thrive within. Thus, he struggled to find words for the tiny filly's whining as she spoke up...obviously about what had occured during her slumber.
He had after all sworn to be ignorant of them - but how could he approach her in a manner that made his advice seem reatively vague...yet understandable to a child? The very thought seemed impossible! No child was quite so bright as to understand his advice outright, his words were too complicated for the tiny ones to follow.
"You know, a wise raccoon once told me that if you face whatever unseen fears present themselves to you," Ah Moppet, he absorbed her advice like a sponge and simply repeated it when it seemed appropriate, "You will be stronger for it. Most often what others cannot see is a test given to you by the Spirits that you must pass to make the next choice in your life..." Smiling faintly the stallion continued to walk, pushing foliage out of his way with what appeared to be a rather mild shrug.
"They will go away when you are ready, I promise...but in answer to your other question," he seemed to hesitate. Was it really appropriate to give her a game to occupy her mind? Well some might say that was the easiest way to deal with children!
"The length of time it will take us to return to your home is entirely up to you. It depends on how fast you wish to walk...or run."

Wica's ears had fallen back a bit as she stared aimlessly at the ground, her young mind trying to understand what was being dolt to her. But it seemed harder then first known, a test? How could scaring the wits out of her be a test? Shaking her head, she looked back up at the looming, darker stallion who was leading her homeward.
"A test? Why would the spirits want to scare the wits out of me? What had I ever done to them?" she asked. "Doesn't seem fair that they want to scare me with images of a bodiless shadow with teeth and glowing eyes." She shivered looking ground bound again.
Shaking her head and clamping her eyes tightly closed, Wica surged a head running at just about full speed. She didn't appear to be watching where she was going as she ran, narrowly missing many trees that happened to pop up in her path. Finally opening her eyes, Wica leaped over a small bush before coming to a halt. Now coming to realize that she had ran from the one soquili that knew the place well and she couldn't make heads or tails of where she was.
"Oiy," She sighed turning around, though now unsure of where she had come from. "There I go again. Running." Fluffing out her wings a little, she wondered where she had ran to now...

It was merely coincidence, or so the stallion hoped, that she had described a creature similar to his father. It was unlikely that such an entity would reside in the Kawani lands without him getting wind of it from somewhere. Nevertheless, he had been haunted by stranger dreams in his youth so he would safely assume it was a...well, an overactive imagination!
Nevertheless as she bolted in a direction that was somewhat off the beaten track he did quicken his pace. Thrusting his legs against the undergrowth to keep sight of the tiny filly, he was certain to keep her in view regardless of how fast she ran. That being said, adults usually could see more than foals and thus she wasn't as far from him as she initially assumed - in fact, within moments he had reappeared again a bemused expression lining his features.
"I am aware that children enjoy games, but might I advise you run in a sraight line..." he lifted his hoof up and motioned diagonally to where she was, "That way?" He wasn't chastising her, in fact he was encouraging her to run in order to reain warm but it would make his life a damn sight easier if she ran in the direction she needed to go!

[[ Now to get back into the foal mood. xD ]]
Surprise came to her as he suddenly appeared near her, she hadn't heard him behind her. Then again she couldn't hear anything but the wind in her ears when she had ran from the path he was leading her upon. Shaking her head, a brisk chill coming to her as the sweat upon her small body came into contact with the air. Fanning out her small wings, Wica craned her neck a little to see where he was pointing toward.
'I might advise you to run.' That ran through her mind for a few moments before she looked back up toward him. She didn't even ask before darting forward. Her dark colored hooves digging into the earth beneath them and she lurched a head. Her small tail raised high behind her as she went, at times her wings fanned out at her sides as she lifted an inch or two off the ground as she leaped over roots the stuck out from the ground here and there.
Wica's ears twitched as she listened back to hear if the stallion was still behind her. She had no doubt, she was still in his domain and she didn't know where she was going, not really anyways. Stopping for a moment she looked back, then around. The place was like one great big maze that she could always just run around in and never find her way out. Turning her head she waiting for her guide, hoping to get home soon, she wanted home, now!

((xD *Transports self back into past where Azumoth isn't blackmailed*))
He wasn't far behind, watchful eyes continued to keep track of the tiny filly as she flitted in and out of the trees. She wasn't far and he made certain she kept within a suitable range of him for safeties sake. There were predators in this forest and while they knew of him they were not aware of his connection to the child - ah..a child. Even as he watched her eccentric activity he couldn't help as the ghost of a smile lifted his lips.
Though he knew he couldn't permit it, deep down inside he desired nothing more than to have children of his own. Yes, he had adopted two beautiful young mares but to have sired his own, to have that mate by his side - it was the ideal dream. He was aware he couldn't acquire it but foals had a habit of forcing it to the surface.
Alas, as she came to a halt and waited expectantly for him to direct her further he motioned towards the hillside with a slight bob of his head. He had already selected the easiest route, even the climbs wouldn't be quite as strenuous as others. It would be slightly slower but they would still reach her home quickly.
Or that's how it worked in theory - so long as she remained out of trouble the journey would be swift.
"Climb the slope, then we shall loop round by the mists and head towards your home."
Hopefully by the time they hit the other side she would already recognise where she was.
