Athena flushed deeply, thanking the stars above for blessing her with such a dark coat. Oh, why did this stallion fluster her so? What was so different about this one? He had a beautiful form, to be sure, but she had met others with such beauty. Was she truly so easily swayed by flattery, or was this something more? Oh, she was so confused by this feeling. "I...I'm afraid I don't understand," she admitted softly.

Imrikalto visibly took a step back, arching his neck, tension tightening his whole form. He should not have spoken so thoughtlessly... He did not know her... And yet he felt compelled to speak as he though he had known her all his life...
As though he had-.
Censoring his thought was hard, but he shut his brain down before it conjured that fateful thought. "I apologize, Lady Athena... I have no right to speak thus... Please, walk with me for awhile?"

Athena's puzzlement only increased at Imrikalto's agitated apology. What had either of them done? She just hadn't understood what she said...and something told her she wanted to understand. But if it worried him so, she shouldn't press the issue...so she nodded. "Of course I would like to walk with you...there is nothing to be sorry for."

Imrikalto blushed a deep scarlet under the slate of his coat, ducking his head even farther... A hasty 'I think you're beautiful' would have gone over better than a statement that equaled 'I think you're the mare I'd like to spend the rest of my life with'...
He knew his thoughts were chasing each other across his face, but he couldn't slow them down enough to control it.
"I spoke out of turn." He offered as a lame excuse, gladdened beyond reason when she agreed. "Shall we just, choose a direction?"

Nodding quietly, Athena started off at a gentle walk, lightly laying her wing across Imrikalto in a gesture that was meant to be comforting as she passed. "I don't stand so much on courtesy, as on kindness," she stated, speaking as if to herself so that the stallion could answer or not, as he chose. "Our behavior is the only way we can make our fate come about, or change it if it displeases us." She turned her head to look back at him, tail swaying behind her as she walked. "Of course, there are those that do not believe in fate...but saying that our lives are completely dependent on chance is like saying that the stars above randomly came into existence, without a reason at all."

Imrikalto nearly leapt out of his skin when her silk-soft wings danced over his back, unable to hide his shudder. Pacing after her eagerly, he rumbled a gentle agreement.
"I believe in Fate." He said softly, nodding, remembering the sudden burst of something when he had seen her lovely eyes... "I believe there is a reason for every star, even if it is only to give a certain stargazer something to look for, to call his own...."
He shook his forelock out of his eyes, their color gone dark with thought. "I enjoy stargazing..."

"And I as well...for the stars...are some of the most eternal things that there are," Athena replied softly. "Many other things hold beauty, but they die, they change. The stars may move or fall, but I have yet to see a star die." She smiled slightly. "But I am young. Who knows, before my own time is done I might see such a thing come to pass."

"It would be a shame if such beauty was indeed not eternal.." He said softly, watching her as though bewitched... "Stars give many joy just by shining their light... Imagine what the loss of one would do? And the stargazer who had chosen that as his favorite? Surely his heart would break..."
He tsked. "Many wonders are here on the earth, but the stars are sometimes all the more alluring for their distance... I'd like to catch a falling one, one day..."
He blushed as one of his foalhood dreams spilled out of his mouth. "Though, considering our meeting, I suppose I did, after a fashion..."

Athena paused to look back, a look of wonderment encompassing her face as he spoke. Could it be...that he spoke not only of the stars, but of she herself? Did he truly believe that she was his fallen star? Despite the presumptuous nature of such a thought, for some reason it did not frighten her. Instead, warmth spread through her that was reflected in her smile. "Indeed, I suppose you did. But what shall you do with that star?"

Caught, Imri grinned. With a casual shrug he glanced away from her for a moment, wishing he hadn't gotten himself into this mess so early... Aureate was always the smoother one, and while Imri could be charming, the natural gift seemed to have deserted him.
"I suppose I shall keep her in my sights, for now." He replied softly. "If the LadyStar has no objections to a companion such as a clumsy ground-walker like myself..."

"Clumsy ground-walker?" Athena laughed, a soft airy sound. "My dam is a ground-walker such as you, and I feel no shame in her. Why should there be shame in you? There are vile winged, and wondrous swimmers, and kind groundwalkers...appearances are not all there is to life. Doubtless you know paths that I would not think of."

Imrikalto grinned, thinking there was wisdom in this. She was a wise one, this fallen star. "I suppose I may, but then again, you have seen things and found places I will never go... Because without wings, one cannot get there.. By the same token, friends beneath the waves cannot share things with those on ground, but it does not make us less of friends, hmm?"

"That is true...there is too much in this world for one to experience themselves, so that is why there are so many of us, with such differences. When we share our experiences however we can, we better us all." Athena looked up at the sky again. "Although...the stars themselves may be seen by all. A reason why I love them so, I suppose."

"The sky can be shared... And the sea can be seen... And the ground be felt.. But in the end, it is a matter of hearts and souls and minds... And in that, we are all the same, and very different. Though everyone has such things, how they react to others can be different... Sometimes you like or know or love someone instantly, and they may not know or feel it..."
He shrugged. "And sometimes it is the other way around..."

"Or perhaps..." Stepping closer, Athena nudged Imrikalto's cheek ever so gently with her muzzle. "Perhaps...it was known all along...but the other holder of such knowledge simply needed to be reminded." The words came as if of their own volition, but as she spoke them Athena knew them to be true. Imrikalto was not simply a dreamer like herself...he was the dreamer meant for her. And looking into his eyes, she could tell that he believed her to be the dreamer meant for him.
