tangocat777 Zombicide so true....people always blame the developers! well, who's fault is it that 9 kids and 3 teachers (I think it was more) died in the Columbine Massacre? well, let's all blame John Carmack! why did some ******** idiot decide to kill 3 cops in Miami? well, let's all blame Rockstar games! about that thing where the teenager killed 3 cops in Miami a couple of years back because he was re-enacting a scene from GTA: Vice City, all I have to say was OH MY ******** GOD! IT WAS HIS PARENT'S FAULT! THEY KNEW THAT HE WAS FAILING IN SCHOOL AND HE LOST HIS JOB BECAUSE HE WAS PLAYING GRAND THEFT AUTO FOR OVER 100 HOURS PER MONTH! SO WHO DO THEY BLAME? THEY BLAMED WAL-MART AND ROCKSTAR GAMES! AND LEAVE IT TO ******** JACK THOMPSON TO MAKE THE WHOLE THING PUBLIC, AND EXAGGERATE THE WHOLE STORY! HE EVEN SAID "VIDEO GAMES KILL PEOPLE"! PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE, NOT VIDEO GAMES. damn, that was my loudest post ever.....bottom line: paranoid parents, the ESRB, and the government need to GET SOME ******** BACKBONE! grow the hell on up. the ESRB was only made to keep these games out of the hands of children. and Hilary Clinton's anti-gaming campaign (well, more like her entire presidential campaign in general) is only still alive because these paranoid mothers accept her because she's a woman. is that really who you want for a president? but unfortuantly, she has a high chance of winning, so my advice to you guys: take all of your favorite games, and play them a lot until November of 2008 comes. that is Judgement Day for gaming. (that also broke the record for my longest post ever....) So, if Hillary becomes president, what's y'all's plans? I'm thinking either France, where the culture is very appealing to me, or Germany, where I can legally drink alchohol in public. Yes, she's that bad imo.
Turkey.
As long as it ain't killin people, they srlsy don't care.
Nude Beaches FTW!

I agree with History somewhat.
Excessive cursing/sex/whatever is not really needed to make a game great.... unless you are playing one of Tango's games. xD
Butsrsly, it's not needed. But that's not to say a developer should edit in "Gosh Darnit!!" for every "God Dammit!!". A developer should put whatever it wants in a game.
As for the whole child-turned-killer-from-playing _____________, I say that is utter bullshit. Many people I know, myself included, have been playing shooting games and "IMMA STEEL UR CAR FOO' " games since I started playing games. I, and many other people, have no urge whatsoever to kill people... let alone steal cars. I turned out just fine.
If you ask me, blaming the game on an act is just bad parenting. We learned in Psychology how research can be skewed, and this subject came up. Some of people who bring guns to school and kill people are people with mental problems that just happen to play videogames. The games didn't cause the behavior, their mental instability and issues did. There's many school killers that never touched video games.
You can throw Columbine at me and say "OMG, DOOM CAUSED DISS11!"
Look at the Amish school shooting. That man wasn't a gamer. Look at the Virginia Tech shootings (more fatalities than Columbine).... he wasn't a gamer.

If they don't want their kids playing it then they shouldn't buy it for them. It's not the dev's fault for making it, it's the parents' fault for buying it/allowing their kid to buy it if they feel there is a reason why they don't want their kid to play it. (There can be numerous reasons why.) I hate the parents who are trying to "stop" these games. They're the same ones who wanted to censor music. I'm all against censorship. They can just as easy monitor what their kid listens to/plays. They shouldn't blame the Devs when they don't know how to tell their kids no. the sex, cursing, violence, etc is fine as long as it isn't redundant.

Yah there shouldn’t be some stupid law that it is illegal for children own an M rated game. For one thing, it is impossible to enforce, and it conflicts with some of our amendments. Yes it is up to the parents to decide if their child could play an M rated game. It is fair because who buys games the under age children? Well its the parents, not the kid. Ok there are some kids who form a group of friends which combine all of their allowance money to buy an M rated game. But hay, how many kids bother to do this. Plus if the kid bought the game, the parents could hide the game and give it back to him when he reaches a certain age. Game these days do need blood violence and swearing because it increases the realism in the game.

I know what he's saying by games needing blood, violence, and strong language, because it does make gameplay a little more "exciting". how would you like it if Marcus Fenix yelled out "GOSH DARN YOU TO HECK!" when you incorrectly perform an active reload in Gears of War? and touching on the law that Clinton wants to pass banning violence/explicit themes/language in games, why not point the finger at music and movies as well? it's not like TV is innocent with all the graphic violence/nudity, and like music is innocent, with all the sexual themes/suicide references. why only target gaming? they say it's because kids are targeted towards it the most, but isn't it the same for music and television/movies as well? a lot of kids listen to that rap/heavy metal crap on the radio or in CD's, or they see it in stores, and it's LOADED with sex, death, and strong language. and on TV, they see movie trailers for super-violent "horror" movies, and commercials for the next big Fox 5 thriller show that's always got some guy doing a girl in the commercial, or beating the crap out of another guy. so why then, must they point the finger at gaming? gaming is not the only "culprit" (if you even want to call it that....) for this violence in America. I've said this once, and I'll say it again: do you think that innocent little Billy is going to pick up his daddy's shotgun, and turn into a car-jacking, murderous, rapist/serial killer because he played some video games for an hour? I didn't think so.....but apparently, some people do, and they think that these "murder simulators" are going to spawn a generation of anti-social, anger management serial killers.

Heeeeyyyyy.... I assure you, I'm not into cursing or obnoxious levels of blood, by which I mean any more than some sort of dramatic cut in the game's storyline. Blood spilling every time you hit something does not enhance gameplay.

blood and real-time wounds do add realism, contrary to what you think. would Doom and Gears of War be the same if the enemies didn't bleed? but excessive and unrealistic amounts of blood (ex: God of War, Grand Theft Auto), are what adds nothing of value to gameplay.

Gears of War's blood actually didn't look all that realistic. last time I checked, my blood did NOT look like a huge glob of cherry flavored Jello, and people's torsos do NOT fall off when you shoot them with a pistol......

might I add that of course tango will say no because the only real shooters he's ever showed fandom and excitement for were Metroid Prime 3, and Battalion Wars? and although Gears of War had too much gore, it was still an excellent shooter, and this is NOT a Gears of War bash. don't point that finger solely at Gears of War.....remember, all of those RPG's that you guys enjoy so much are loaded with sexual references. an example, you ask? take a nice good look at every female character in those games, and you'll know what I mean.....damn, even the men look like whores too!

No one said Gears wasn't a good game. 2. That wasn't right to take a cheap attack at Tango when he wasn't bashing anything but using the game as an example. He was talking about excessive blood. He didn't say Gears was bad at all. 3. We're getting to sexual references. We just so happen to be discussing gore right now. We'll get to that.
