You think olympic tkd isn't point sparring? O_o I watched some on youtube the other day, thinking it cant be alll that bad. It was. This korean chick won her match because her stupid wishy washy twisting kick to the belly landed slightly before she got nailed in the head with a powerful roundhouse..
But yes you are right, fundamentally that was due to the wtf not the olympics...

I think that there should just be a entire section of events within the summer Olympics that is devoted to martial arts. If it's going to be international, make it really international and let all the martial arts in. It really angers me to see so few in the Olympics and then see stuff like snowboarding and diving become so important in the Olympics. The original ones in Greece were more geared to crafts and skills of warl, basically martial arts.
