Tenor ftw! I usually play flute, so the lower notes are a nice change. But I wouldn't be able to handle bari since it's so big! xp

I love Soprano, It's so sexy and, when played right at least, gives the smoothest high sounds ever. Truly I'm not that good at it...but there's others who played it at my school and it's so good. I've been playing alto for about four years and I've listened to most of the types of saxes, and truly I believe that the soprano is still the best. biggrin

I play the tenor in my jazz group, so I would only say that tenor is best, because I play it. If I were to go for another, then it would be Bass. It's big, powerful, and the one who plays it is respected. And until two weeks ago, I didn't know that the Contrabass exsisted. I prefer the Bass over Contrabass, only because it's a little too low. It's playes awesome music once you get used to it's sound (plus it's giagantic (sp)!!!!)

the_forgotten_thought well, i think that the bari and soprano are tied. imean, i like playing the bari because it's easier and i love the low notes, but the soprano makes this beatuiful sound that is incompairable to any other. it's just that it hurts me to play it. I would have to agree, but I love my stright soprano. It is possably the best sounding jazz instrument. Light and mellow, but full of tone. Believe it or not, I have actually made myself cry because i thought that I had played so good and made such a wonderful tone and sound come out of my instrument.......... crying ---wow---

I would have to say Bari. Because I heart my Bari.
I really do not like the Alto because it's way too easy to play. I mean just a week ago I picked up my Alto for the first time in like a year and played everything I had difficulties with on the Bari. That's not fair. biggrin

[ ] I don't play saxophone, but my favorite would have to be the soprano sax. They get some pretty sweet solos. [ ]

i've got to say as a clarinetist/saxaphonist i prefer the four main saxes: soprano, alto, tenor, bari. mostly i play the tenor in my college jazz band, but i've been known to get down and lay a hardcore beat on the bari. mind you i'm a tiny chick, but hey big things come in small packages! my ex fiance is an amazing sax player and taught me how to really hit the notes on a bari. to me the bari seems sexy. but the alto sax is my favorite for anything sexy. when i'd heard my ex play desperado or the rose or samantha i'd melt everytime and i'd break down and cry.
