A paraphrased version I heard went something like:
"When you die your soul leaves your body and you move to join god in (some form or join or rejoining here). But if you do not believe you are 'good enough' to be with god, you shrink away (insert image of open hand closing and clenching) and hide yourself from god. In this you create your own hell, and it is only when you come to realise you are actually worthy of gods love that you can release yourself from your own hell and be happy."
It was something I hadn't heard before at the time, seems to be along the lines of what was said.
I believe theres more things then just what we have found so far here, but I'm alway on the fence for most things. I've been told that there are hell(ish) realms or levels/plains of existence by a few people. According to a friend of mine, who I find knows enough for me to respect what she has to say, says there is a hell and a ultimate manifestation known as the devil (more to the hebrew history/intent then christian one).
I haven't been convinced of much, but one theme thats stuck out is that the way people explain things (to me) is that they always seem to say theirs ways to avoid these hell place(s). And I mean, more ways then just 'living a good, clean, christian life', if these places do exist.
On the flip side theres been explainations of there being heaven(ish) realms/plains and such too, though getting into that would be a little redundant.

I try to shy away from deciding upon things to believe since that would make me even less receptive to other possibilities. I wouldn't be surprise to find places that people would congeal around, due to religious, philosophical, or other beliefs in an afterlife type of situation. I don't think that anyone would really be shot out of a realm, or out from between realms, because of a lack of concern with the idea of an omnipotent being, which may objectively be an exaggeration or falsification. I do think though that the areas would be superficial.
Personally, I would recognise that in appropriate situations it may be a good idea to respect a being to the extent that would be logical, but I don't particularly concern my self with dieties, or even any real beings so far. As a note, I think that in a crude measurement, that its entirely possible for there to be a level that most 'gods' would fit into (assuming they exist), but I don't really think these beings are all powerful and omnipotent to an extent any were near the idea of the judeo-christian god.
Acknowledging the idea that there are hellish realms that are not related to religious ideas, and that through mass belief there may be a hell related to a(ny) religion, I wouldn't be surprised to find that there may be individual entities that are the ultimate boss guy (or group) of a hell. Or respective individuals of the respective realms.
I'm told the devils interested in my soul.
