"Turning?" Aria asked very confused. "What do you mean? When i want to switch the way I'm swimming I usually run into something."
She laughed as she heard herself. What kind of fish lost control of its swimming? None that she knew of. "You'll have to show me!" She was a bit embarrassed and looked away blushing.

Seeing her embarrassment, Damien patted her back comfortingly. "It's no big deal...just takes some practice. Not everyone starts out as a grand swimmer, yah know." He smiled comfortingly before continuing.
"You just have to turn your fin in with you as you turn." He paused, "Like this..." He darted around the boulder with slow and deliberate full swerving motions. He flipped in the water before rejoining Aria. "See?"

Aria tried to pay attention closely but it seemed impossible! So many sights above and below the surface.
Soon Damien had returned. She hadn't paid attention. "I don't really get it!" She said annoyed. She tried but ended up upside down and sore. "I think you need to help show me because I can't get it!" She crossed her arms and pouted.

He laughed...Really that Syrin and her ways. But he smiled and took her hand, "Swim with me and try to copy, okay?" Slowly he started towards the boulder...but not before adding in, "If you get some of this lessons down, I'll show you some of the most interesting places around here. But!" He held up his free hand, "You must concentrate on the tasks at hand."

Sighing, Aria followed. She focused on his tail. It was hard to do. Who knew that learning how to turn could be so hard. She slowly started to get it after a few tries. She still couldn't go faster than her normal swimming speed but she was making progress.
"I can do this! She muttered to herself every so often to boost her confidence. "Damien thanks again for teaching me!"

Damien nodded, "You're welcome...but we're not done yet." He stopped and yawned, "But...let's take a break for now, okay?" He moved towards a more open spot with a glittering pure white sandy bottom along with some colorful seaweed and other things surrounding the area.

Aria followed him, this time she didn't hurt herself. "WOW!" She cried in excitement, "This is soo pretty!"
She dove into the sand and curled up in it. It was like a warm heavy protective blanket. She saw a aqua rock that sparkled laying next to her. She picked it up shook off her sand and swam over to Damien.
"Here!" She offered the stone to Damien with a smile.

"Thanks." He took the stone and rolled it about in his hand. Like most of the sea stones it was smoothed down without a single sharp edge to it. He settled down on the sandy bottom and looked at Aria, "I never got around to asking...but why were you out here all by yourself?"

Aria blushed a deep red. She tried to look him in the eye but couldn't. "I always swim alone. I don't know where my mommy or my family is." She felt tears stream down her cheeks. "I don't have one!" She cried as she swam clumsily back to her pile of sand.

Damien blinked...it seemed that he wasn't the only syrin without someone to call family...well in terms of blood family that is. He swam after her and patted her back comfortingly, "I'm sure that they didn't leave you alone out here by choice. Storms or anything could seperated them from you." He held out his hand, "And you would be surprised by how many nice land taurs are out there. After all...I don't have any syrins to call family but I have all of my landtaur family." Willow, Tori, Xylia...how the list went on. He smiled reassuringly, "It's okay, Aria...you won't be alone any more."

Aria turned to look at him. "How can family not be syrin? What about those paintings that have dead syrins with them land taurs over them?"
She hugged him tightly. "You mean it? I'll find someone to be my family?" She smiled up at him. "I'd like to meet your family sometime. Maybe they can help me find one too!"

"Not all landtaurs are like that and most of those paintings reflect the war from long ago." Damien murmured with a smile, so many tales...so many things that have happened.
"I'm sure they'd love to met you sometime as well. But-" He swam around the area, "We are practising how to swim right now in a place that is not too close to them and the meadow."

Aria smiled weakly. "Oh yeah! Let's practice some more!" She swam over to him and tagged him. "I caught ya! Now tell me what you know about my past!"
She tired her best to put on a serious face. "Please tell me now!"

The syrin boy put on a smooth face, "Hmm? Now I really don't consider that much fair." He motioned to the rock and laid down on it with his head propped up by his hands. "I really don't know much, Aria. But like I said I met you first in a differant form, which would riddle out to mean I saw you as an egg. So did a couple of other syrin, whom I don't really know much about yet." He sighed, "I do wish to meet them again and to talk with them." Damien closed his eyes wishing that he could meet more syrins soon...not that there was anything wrong with how it was now...he just wanted to know more about his own kind from being with more of them.

"Sorry. But it was the only way that I could catch you. Besides YOU reminded me or our deal." She listened closely to what he said. It made some sense. "Oh!" she interrupted him, "I remember know. That's where I know you from!"
She smiled hugely and hugged him. "Thanks for watching over me as an Egg. Was I that troublesome?"
