lymelady Wasn't it a closed adoption though? Babies want to be borned! Babies want to be borned! I almost cried towards the end. It was so touching. It was a closed, though private, adoption. I was mistaken (thinking that most private adoptions are open), the biological mother wanted the adoption (in the movie) to be closed. I thought the movie was awesome! I can't wait until it's out on DVD so I can get it! I would recommend it to anyone! I thought that fingernails develop later, but it does turn out that they are formed in the 9th to 10th week. But they don't reach the end of the fingers until week 36. Which is why I was confused.

I finally saw "Juno"!
My Opinion: Definitely one of the most original characters I've seen in a long time. None of the characters did exactly what I expected them to (that's a good thing), and the ideas behind the movie were solid.
Speaking of, this movie totally did me a solid with the dialogue-- It was glib, and sarcastic, but in a way that was fresh, funny, and delivered by Ellen Page (and others in the cast) with such... spunk. It really works, and might have hit the wrong note in other hands.
It's sweet. It's touching-- you want good things to happen to these characters. And the movie, overall, makes you feel good. Because the characters got, really, what they needed from the experience, in the end. I was pleasantly surprised by all the performances-- especially from Jennifer Garner. I knew Page was going to be good, but Garner hit some great emotional notes. Alison Janney is one of my favorite character actors (she's yet to land a lead role), and her and JK Simmons from "Spider-man" are wonderful as the parents. They aren't shrill and disapproving, like in most teen movies. This movie tries to work with people that might exist, and that you could love.
A wonderful film. Definitely one of the best of the year. heart

Also, I answered your poll but it was kind of hard to answer. If I had been Juno's age when I got pregnant I would have given it up for adoption, but at my age now I would probably keep the child. I'd be 20 by the time it was actually born, and though I know that's not that old it's old enough I would feel I had the ability to provide a half decent home.

Beware the Jabberwock What I kind of liked about the protester was that she wasn't mean or rude. I mean there was an obvious pro-choice slant, but they didn't try to make the pro-lifer look like a horrible person, she was someone Juno knew and someone who was there for moral convictions. Not to demonize the women. Yeah, I really liked that also. I was worried that the movie would be preachy (about anything), and it wasn't. I thought that the idea of the single protester, of her own age, was really great. Beware the Jabberwock Also, I answered your poll but it was kind of hard to answer. If I had been Juno's age when I got pregnant I would have given it up for adoption, but at my age now I would probably keep the child. I'd be 20 by the time it was actually born, and though I know that's not that old it's old enough I would feel I had the ability to provide a half decent home. I don't think that there is really an "old enough" to have children. My nephew was born when my sister was 20, and he is just a wonderful kid. She even went back and finished college (proving that choosing to have children doesn't ruin your life...)! I mean, I wouldn't have wanted to have children at 16 either. But I do know some good parents who had children that early, and they turned out okay. It all depends on the person, and how determined they are. And my mother's best friend's adopted son's biological mother was 16 when she gave birth (and on drugs - he was born addicted, but is fine now - she died soon after), but he's a wonderful boy and very smart. I totally loved the movie, though the closed adoption surprised me (I would want updates on the child, were I to give a child up for adoption).

I loved Juno . I preferred Bella but for a lighter movie Juno was good. All babies want to be borned. I guess I totally did because I came fifteen days early in the early morning.

I think that possibly everyone could relate, and it was fairly realistic - I loved it, I really did. I kinda expected some of the stuff that happened (dear god WHY do they always make it so obvious who the heroine is going to end up with? And WHY does she even have to end up with someone in the first place?) but it was quirky and fairly original.
