"Oh, right!" He whispered loudly the excitment still echoing in his voice, he knew something the girls did not, oh how fun! He purred warmly at the idea of having many friends to play with, and being able to show off his sisters, because he loved them so, and of course everyone else would have to love them.
"Of course we'll be the best of friends forever, what would change that? We're sisters and brother, always?" he looked up at her questioningly.

Amadet had to hold back a frown at how excited Pepo was, she knew it wouldn't last when it came to actually getting to the swamps- she just hoped he'd be able to move past her leaving well enough and get to playing like he so wanted. She couldn't help but frown a bit when he asked what would change a relationship between siblings- she hadn't even realized she was heading into this subject. But there was no reason to bring Amoret up in this conversation.
"I'm glad you feel that way," she said, forcing herself to smile again, "Promise you'll always stay friends and take care of them?"

Little Pepo would always and forever want to please his mother, so of course he felt what ever little cubs felt as pride and honor at being given such a big responsibility.
"I promise, we'll be friends forever, and no one will ever get hurt." He noted her frown and took it to be she was disapointed in him for asking such a thing, he would not do so again. When she smiled at him he was much happier, even if it was a strained smile.
"But of course you'll be there to take care of us with daddy forever too, will you be my best friend mommy?"

Ama beamed proudly at Pepo when he promised to be a friend and protector to his sisters, knowing he would do his very best to keep his word- it was one easy way to get the frown over Amoret out of her. Amadet felt her cubs were absolutely proof that she was better than her sister, not only for their blood but because they were so very sweet and good- not at all like the brute she'd assumed to be Amoret's son.
His last question stung, though. She could practice all she wanted, prepare immeasurably for the day she was going to leave them- but it was hard to always keep up that act, that she would always be there, that she didn't really care that she was leaving them behind.
"Ok," she said, pulling him in again and leaning down to lick his nose, "Best friends."

He beamed with happiness a not only knowing a secret, but being his mother's best friend forever and always like he wanted. he even 'tolerated' her pulling him close and licking him. He licked her cheek back and leaned his head against her chest the best he could.
"Forever and always then, and no worries I'll keep our secret from the girls," he murmured, his excitment mixed with being woken up slightly early was catching up to him and he thought about the pile of furry bodies not far off, "I bet I can beat you back!" He sprung from her arms and started towards his sisters.

Amadet nodded and winked at Pepo when he agreed to keep their secret from the girls, it would make it more exciting for him and more surprising for them- hopefully no one would be upset. About moving, anyway. She started when he suddenly leaped from her side and headed back towards the family- wondering if he was going to wake them all up trying to get comfortable again.
With a laugh, she got back to her feet and followed after him.
