"Its quite simple, really." He said with a smirk. "They dont move. They dont strike back, run away, dodge or react in any matter. In a real battle, your opponent will react to your movements and will actively be trying to kill you as you kill them. Balls on sticks wont attack you no matter how nastily you treat them." The wax cylinder in his hand suddenly flew from his grip and blitzed past the youngling's ear.
"They need a little boost from the Force before they do anything, as you can see."

He then ignighted his own emerald green blade and twirled it around.
'Now a Lightsaber is not a sword, youngling. It is an elegant, versatile weapon. Unlike a sword, its blade has no weight. Unlike a sword, it has more than one cutting edge. The entire blade cuts. It will wound on the backswing just as surely as it would on the first strike."

To emphasize his point, he floated a cylinder before him and swung his saber, cutting it. He then slashed again without reversing his grip, doing the same sort of cut as before.

He snapped his blade off, the sliced cylinder floating to the floor and settling there. "If you wish to become better with your saber, this is certainly not the way to do it. You must drill yourself, perform the basic cuts, sweeps, and parries until they become as instinctive as breathing. If you feel the need to expand your sensory abilities, a Remote works far better than this but above all, master the basics."

Aurora flinched a little as the cylinder flew past her head then came around to float in front of him. The light from his saber lit up the room, high-lighting her white-blue hair and twinkled in her eyes. His blade was a bright green blur as it cleaved thru the wax cylinder, not once but twice.
“Yes Lord Stryder I understand, master the basics.” She repeated his words as she looked at the cylinder resting on the floor, more for herself then anything else. “Thank you for the instruction.” She said looking up at him once more.

He flicked a glance at the girl and smirked.
"I'm not instructing, I'm advising. Instructing involves a lot more than a few words. Instructing means work and sweat. Or perhaps you're asking for a little instruction..."

The study of the shield had been hindered by the very nature of sith research, Saul reminded himself. For among the sith, knowledge was as closely guarded by it's finder as any secret of the force. Those that had made progress on the shield, had studied it in detail and decoded parts of it's cipher had all taken what they'd found to their deaths, for they did not want someone else to unearth the secrets of the artifact, and for that reason every sith that decided to study such a piece was starting from scratch and any fascination with this artifact always turned up suspicion among the other sith.

A legend had grown up around the shield, just as a legend had grown up around Revan. Some said that the shield was the key to Revan's powers, others that it contained directions to some lost academy of sith warriors, while others believed that the shield was a device through which Revan had hoped to be reborn when a sith of sufficient power came across it. But those who knew history felt that the small wooden shield could be the clue leading to the Dark Lord's resting place.

As Saul pulled open an enormous volume of characters and kanji and laid the rubbing on the pages to begin his search the soft sound of a robe sliding across the stone floor reached his ears. He knew who it was before he looked, "Hello Master."

"Still playing with toys from the old times I see," The cold but measured voice of his old master answered. Saul knew the voice well, how cool and measured it seemed to the ear, and how it hid the dark anger that flowed through the person who gave it life. The anger however wasn't there today, some other emotion had taken it's place.

"If one is to master himself he must know how others failed. You taught me that." In the darkness Saul could imagine the cold smile that his words would certainly have planted on his master's face.

"Then turn away from this ancient piece of trash, you've seen what has become of those that studied it. Killed in fear, killed for information, or wasting away in these dank walls like some archaic jedi scholar." The voice answered it's tone turned sharp. Then it changed again, becoming softer, "You know the seers have taken an interest in your study of this piece."

"Which seers," Saul asked unfazed.

"Darth Ennustus," His old master answered.

"Ennustus?" Saul replied with a smile, "I had no idea I had gathered such a notoriety." Inside however he felt cold, Darth Ennustus was the best student of using the force to predict future events. She was also known to act upon her visions, assassinating those she saw as threats, sending minions and fleets to staging areas of the Republic before they'd even hatched the plan she was countering.

"Hmmph, you're still obstinate. A lot of good the knowledge of Revan's Shield will do when you're dead." His master answered before leaving.

Korriban was an ugly little world home to some ugly little souls.
It was said the Sith came from here, and the ruins certainly bear out that statement.

But Cene Quell didnt really care about the history of the Sith. What mattered was the creature in her sights, a massive nightmare of spines and claws with a wicked set of Mandibles protruding from its jaws.

Terentateks. Jedi-killers they were called. And while one would think that this would make the Sith happy, truth be told the beasts didnt care who they killed, as long as they could use the Force.

A recent surge in the population of the beasts threatened to shut down access to the Valley of the Dark Lords as they ate just about every sithling that came across their path.
Now the Sith empire was willing to shell out good money to get rid of them, with bounties for every pair of mandibles brought in.
Quite a few hunters had taken up the offer. Less than a handful came back to tell the tale.
Big risk, Big pay off. Just the sort of thing a young Mando would want.

Cene settled her scope on the lone Terentatek, a smaller specimen by historical standards. Its blood splattered maw was clue it had eaten recently, and its steady gate meant it was enroute somewhere.

"Back to it's lair perhaps?" She asked herself, her voice not leaving the confines of her helmet. "Well lead on, little one. Lets see if I cant double my profits.."

"And what do you purpose, Brother Styder?" The voice was deep, with a frontier accent to it, the owner of it should mightly in the doorway of the training room, dressed in a light brown yakata that held around an under tunic and trousers tucked into knee-high leather boots. His two sabers slipping into tubes attached to his sash. Weapons Master Gohgei turned his eyes to his apprentice and walked into the room.
Peering to the candles and the barrings, he shook his head." I thought I told you not to use this old training method?"

"I dont seem to recall having a brother." Stryder said as he half turned to face the man. "We're not friars you know, Gohgei. We're Jedi Knights. And had I known the youngling was yours I would have let her be. Better she get her lessons from her teacher when the fellow is a Weapons Master I suppose. All I had in mind was just to have her practice basic saber strikes."
He looked to the wax and ball bearings, then back to Gohgei. "I think if you told her not to do it, she probably wouldnt have done it. Memory getting fuzzy in your old age?"

The Cave stank of carron, fungus, and offal. And in another sense it stank of something else, more a feeling of rotten than a smell.
And her prey was in here. Perhaps with more of its kin.
Cene nodded to herself. She knew the risks. This would be worth the effort.
She was armed with a Czerka Rocket launcher she picked up in town and still owed payments on, Her LCR-58 Carbine with Grenade Launcher attachment, Her Dual heavy custom mando blaster pistols, and the usual assortment of handy armor add-ons and kit.
She had the tools; she had the talent.
"Oya." She stated as she moved into the cave to confront the Jedi-killers.

Aurora looked over at her master as he came into the room.
“Master Gohgei,” She said as she bowed to him. “I am sorry Master and I have no excuses. Forgive me.” She moved to start cleaning up the mess of melted wax and shards of the steel ball barrings.

Dxun. A deciduous moon with some of the most vicious wildlife in the Galaxy. Not only did it house ferocious jungles, but also a few very old, yet still usable, Mandalorian bases.

Koren stood in a dense forest, awaiting his contact. Next to him stood a dozen crates of his own custom made explosives. Eventually, a squad of Mandalorians appeared out from around a group of trees. They were five strong and the leader came forward. Koren minced words with him for a moment, then left without his explosives and with his datapad a few thousand credits richer.

After a quick stroll through the jungle, he reached a clearing. His ship, the Kizraxh, was sitting there. He began quietly singing Dha Werda Verda to himself and then climbed up into his ship. He took off and set course back to Mandalore.

The mission was accomplished.
All he needed to do was withdrawl.
But the Force works in mysterious ways. Some would call it a turn of bad luck. However, that would require one to believe in such things.

Pash left some credits for his drink and with his spacer's bag over his shoulder he began to leave the bar. Then a pair of Sith troopers lead by a Duros Acolyte stopped his way.

"Hello there, spacer." The Duros said with a toothy smile. "Going somewhere?"
Pash gave a slight nod and then attempted to move past them, an effort that was denied.

"I think you're looking for a career in the army." The Duros said with a slight swipe of the hand.
A Press gang. Terrific.
"You wish to fight for the glory of the Sith." The Duros intoned with another pass of the hand.

Pash turned and tried to leave through the back exit, only to have two more troopers block his path.

"Looks like we'll have to do this by force then." The Duros said in an irritated voice. "Men, stun him!"

Pash burst into action before the troopers could move. He lept at the nearest Sith Trooper and slammed a knife hidden in his sleave into the vulnerable visor of the armored soldier, the knife cracking and piercing through the thin protection there. Pushing into his dying opponent, the Jedi Shadow hooked the foot of the man's partner and yanked it out from under the surprised trooper. He spun and slammed his spacer against the back of the man's head and knocked him to the floor.

His path clear Pash bolted for the door, stun blasts suddenly erupting around him while the acolyte shouted curses and commands at his men.
The Situation was now compromised.

"Settle down, girl. No harm dome."He said as he went down on a knee and picked up two of bearings and looked over to the more elder Jedi.
"Age comes slowly to my people. Even two decades of war has done little to tear my youth from me." Handing the items to Aurora he set his large palm onto her shoulder.
"The General is right though, go and practice the basics. We'll spar this evening to see how your doing." He then patted her on the back and sent her along, leaving only the two old warriors in the room.

"Come back when you've had four decades of war." Stryder said with a good natured dismissive. "I had passed my trials before you were even concieved."
Noteing he sent the girl off, Stryder looked at his fellow Jedi.
"Something on your mind, Gohgei?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 8:25 pm

He took a seat on a ottoman in the middle of the room and look over toward Stryder."I have no doubt this war will not end within our life-times. Perhaps hers, or her children's, but it has been long and bloody so far, and may be for centuries more." His expression turned black and he stared out past the Jedi.
"Training the girl is paramount to myself becoming of Master status and becoming a full-fledged general, but it bothers me not being on the field while more of ours die each day." His silver scars seem to glisten as the light from outside the dark room shone onto his face, showing just how much he had been through, for their were few in the order with scars to match Gohgei's.

Stryder nodded as he listened to the fellow's words. Foregoing a seat, he remained standing, his gaze locked like a targeting raticle upon his friend, studying and reading him.
"I think I understand what you're saying, Gohgei." He said calmly. "You want to dump your responsibility and rush out to die on the battlefield before you die in your bed. Correct?"
