I saw the movie and I loved it and the reason John wasn't in the new movie is because he has a part in Spider woman movie. mrgreen

Oh, hi...*waves shyly* I wonder about Hellboy's twins...I hope they look like him and there is at least one girl. They would look sooo very cute! Now only if we could have some HB items like the tail and the hand of doom. smile

I don't know what to think of the twins. Reading the comics, I always appreciated that there was no romance and therefore no offspring. I worry, A LOT, that the next movie might focus on the children. That sort of thing drives me batty. I know it's a horrible thing to say, but I REALLY hope that Liz miscarries or something.
It also occurs to me that the children would only be one quarter demon (since hellboy's mom was a human and his dad was a demon). There's always the chance that they'll look completely human- which would be desirable for the children, considering Hellboy's problems with appearance.

Trivia_Master: I hear the HB creator is working with the writers on all the movies so it is approved by him about the twins, I believe. biggrin I do wonder where it says Hellboy likes kitties? biggrin Is it just in the movies or in one of the comics? biggrin

There's nothing in the literature to suggest that he likes cats. He has no pets in the comics, except for a cameo of Max the Dog in the two-page comic "Pancakes" which is about Hellboy when he's two years old trying pancakes for the first time. Max lived on the base in New Mexico.
Allegedly, Hellboy could speak with dogs (just dogs) until he was about seven.
Now he doesn't really seem to have any fondness for animals. Considering all the times he's fought werewolves etc. I can't really blame him.
I think cats were an afterthought because they're so often associate with witchcraft and his mom is a witch.
I know Mignola's working on the movies, but it still bothers me that the relationships aren't platonic... I'm haunted by the fact that HB is 64 and Liz is about 30-35, especially because in the comics, the scene where he first meets her he gives her a lollypop. Shudder.

Just think of the movies as an alternate universe, I think HB should be paired with a demon female of some sort..a kitsune(fox demon) or a cat demon. biggrin As far as the age span goes....men age 'mentally' slower than women do so...he's just the right age.! rofl Just kidding. blaugh

I still think Hellboy is the sort of character that doesn't belong in a romantic relationship. "The whole lonely hero thing." Although in the movies, they could not have done better than Liz.
As far as a demon mate, I really don't think that would work. Hellboy hates demons. Hates them. He was raised catholic, so I can't blame him. He doesn't see himself that way- to him he's just one of the guys. He'd probably be repulsed by a demon...
In the comics, the character relationships are just friendships, which is fun to read, and you can really tell that everyone's close.

The movies are fantastic, but I do tend to look at them as an alternate universe of sorts, as was previously suggested.

But an angel would hate him. His Right Hand used to belong to an angel, so I'm sure they hate his guts.
Fairies are out, he doomed their race in "The Corpse."
The witches liked her him, but then he told them to go away.
Other fey and whatnot are pissed at him, too.
And he looks like an ape.
