Brighter at night? That didn't make much sense. While lights seemed brighter at night nothing else did everything else was just dark. "I'm not sure if I understand what you mean." He said still puzzling over the odd statement.
It was possibly that the flames granted her other gifts aside from their warmth. Perhaps she had eyes like a cats and at night everything seemed to glow with an unnatural light. The thought itself sounded far fetched but then up until a few moments ago he would have thought being comfortable while burning was strange to. Scratch that it was still strange but now it wasn't unheard of.

So she was just talking about how lights seemed brighter. He had assumed she meant everything seemed to glow at night and that simply wasn't true. "I see. So the lights that are otherwise hidden show brightly at night..." His words sounded more like a question then anything else and for good reason. He was used to pulling all the words together inside before speaking but it felt as though something should have been said quickly that time. "I suppose the same thing could be said about us...as a race not simply the two standing here."

She nodded a slow agreement. "There are some who simply feel more comfortable wandering at night. The sun is not so bright and there aren't as many others around..." That was why she liked the night. She could spend time in silent contemplation and sleep away the day while her family was elsewhere.

"And you are one of those that feel at home in the night?" He asked not quite understanding where she came from. Sure it made sense that one could feel more at home in the dark of the night then in the light of the day but Xantir was not one of those people. He preferred taking his thinking time during the day when the sun could warm his thin coat. Though he could get used to the lack of other people. The silence the night offered was very soothing. If there was anything that could lure him out to lounge in the night for no reason it would be the silence.
((I think I need to give my muse a good beating real quick like so she gives me some ideas XD))

"At times." She smirked, eyes dancing as she turned to glance at the stallion. "And you? Where do you feel the most at home, Xantir?" Her brow lofted as she awaited his response.

There was something curious about they way she spoke and how her eyes sparkled afterwards. It was almost like she was hiding something from him. He didn't want to think to much into it though. His tendencies towards paranoia got him into quite a bit of trouble at points.
"Me...I..."His voice trailed off and he felt heat rush to his face as his mind answered the question. An image of a green eyed mare with a long brown braid floated about in his mind. He wondered, briefly, if he was losing his mind but then decided he didn't really have much of a mind to begin with. "I uh...it's...I...it's...well at my home..."He said not really wanting to admit that it wasn't the place that made it feel like home at all. Some people found his undying affection towards his mate adorable people like Lunathiel. Then on the other side there were those that found him stupid for thinking like that, Dark and Amoena. He didn't know which kind Ember was or if she fell somewhere in the middle but he didn't want to risk being ridiculed.
((I want that shirt O.O But nah, If I want her to keep working I can't let her rest or she just gets worse to prolong the break.
Ah ha...see keep her working and something comes.))

"Feeling at home... At home." Of course that made worlds of sense an it made her feel rather foolish for having asked such a question. She chuckled softly at herself, shaking her head. "Have I stumbled upon your home in my wanderings this evening or is your home elsewhere? You needn't tell me where it is, of course... But it would be nice to know whether or not I am invading your space by being here."
(( It's an awesome shirt. XD The ones I've seen all have some sort of little pirate logo on it.

He considered this for a moment then shook his head slowly. "I don't think so. I've never seen you before now and I think I would have noticed fire outside and as you can see I wasn't home myself." He smiled laughing softly at his own form of a gentle joke. He glanced over his shoulder to look into the trees in the direction of his and Aeris' home. It wasn't as though he could see it. Even if it wasn't so dark out it was too far back to see but just knowing it was there somehow made him feel secure.

Xantir couldn't help but smile at how perceptive Ember was. Just from a slight look she could tell something important was there. True it wasn't as impressive as say one being able to discern your thoughts from just a raised brow, but many would have over looked the simple language of the body. "Thinking of both actually." He said not letting her smirk bother him as it would have a time not long ago. "My home." He nodded to the house with a bit of a mysterious look in his eye and a tone in his voice. He wondered if she would pick up on the hidden words. He hoped she wouldn't, it would be embarrassing.

"They do say that home is where the heart is..." She didn't exactly know why they said it... She just knew that it was said. It must have been one of those strange things that one would have to experience in order to understand. Bah. She had no need to go running about experiencing it. She could just settle for knowing it... And guessing.

"Do they?" He asked puzzling over the expression. He'd never heard it before and now that he had it didn't make much sense. How could your heart be at home? Wouldn't that place you in the home at all times or wouldn't you be dead? He didn't know much about a heart but he was fairly certain one was required in ones body in order to live. "It seems like a strange thing to say. At least to me."

"It is a strange thing to say." Her nose wrinkled slightly as she thought on it a moment longer. "But they say it... Which, I suppose, makes it even stranger." She snorted, shaking her head. It would probably be best to not even try to think of it any more.

He couldn't help but agree with all she was saying. People said many strange things and just by saying them made them even stranger. "I wonder if they aren't meant to make any sense..." He wondered aloud thinking of all the strange ones he'd heard. Probably the most terrifying one was a two-legger commenting in passing that he was 'so hungry I could eat a horse'. That scared him. He didn't really think a human would eat a horse, they seemed fairly peaceful but still. "Maybe they are simply to be said and not considered and by considering them we are being foolish?"
