Crimson The Blade HistoryWak Arvis_Jaggamar HistoryWak Crimson The Blade HistoryWak See. Didn't I say there were differences in how people define it? xD What! I don't remember you saying that! That was part of what I was saying in the first post. The whole point of this thread was to discuss our personal definitions of what a fanboy is. Right? I guess Crimson is obviously not a Read The Whole Post Fanboy. mrgreen ... Yeah, that was pretty lame, I know... xD I usually read the entire first post... I don't know what happened.... I... Have failed as a human being. *pats back* Don't listen to Tango, I still think you're hilarious and not a failure.

He's usually far too flippant to actually get into a debate with someone who disagrees with him. At least, in my experience he is.

Is it entirely a bad thing? confused There's a difference between being very devoted to what you like, and being an elitist. But where's the fine line? There are many regulars who can fall into the elitist group as they view their preferred console as superior rather than what they prefer. People say things like "STFU Fanboy" is the person that's directed to an elitist or a very devoted fan?

But you're an elitist fanboy when you don't accept that the other consoles have good things going for them. You can't judge someone's fanboy by a "STFU fanboy" comment, because if they are just devoted and call someone who is an elitist a fanboy, then it makes sense. If they're an elitist and they're calling another elitist a fanboy, they're a hypocrite, and if they're an elitist calling a devoted person a fanboy, they're an idiot.

This is an interesting system you've worked out. What if a devoted person calls another devoted person a fanboy. Is that a... compliment?

i think its bad to be a fanboy/girl
being a fan is alright.
i would say being a fanboy/girl is where you see nothing else in existance but that one single thing- and thus any comment you make is bullshittedly biased towards it... ya know what firefox fanboys/girls are like dont ya?
fanwanks i would say is where even when its not needed they post crap about X thing.
being a fan is great- im a fan, i try to give a fair view when i can.
but yeh, thats just my definition of it all

I pride myself in being a Sony fanboy, but I also pride myself on being cynical and sarcastic. However, I also pride myself on being informed on the industry...
It's not the fanboys that can be the problem, it's the ill-informed fanboys that can be the problem...
Knowing is half the battle...

We really need to to have a solid definition of a "fanboy" before we can go into whether or not one could be "bad" or "good"
I mean, the people who call themselves fanboys, obviously don't think a fanboy is a good for nothing waste to the gaming community and is a retarded biased moron who can't see the good of anything he doesn't like to save his useless life.
...Um... But I know most people here just view a "fanboy" as a fan of one thing or another.
Which is why you guys can call someone an idiot or misinformed fanboy without being redundant.

Well I believe myself to be a Sony fangirl and a FPS fangirl. Yet I have a sensible head on my shoulders.
A fanboy/girl is just a massive fan of a particular game/genre/company/consol. A good majority of fanboys/girls are obnoxious, close-minded, and idiots in general. A dipjit fanboy can turn other gamers away from games. I know my boyfirend loathes Xelda because of overzelous Zelda fanboys. And Halo fanboys have forever tainted that game for me. It's a shame, I would have loved it I know.
