Lotus thought all this over. This was an interesting man. "So are you called a monster? I'm a monster. Kapas are evil." He looked a little sad at his.
Bella sighed softly and pet his hair. "Lotus, how many times must I tell you. Those are only folk tales from ignorant humans. You shouldn't believe what they say."
"What's Batman Beyond? Is that a play?" Bella had no TV so Jasmine was completely ignorant of cartoons. All her knowledge came from books in Bella's home.

"People choose weather or not to be evil." Nihls snorted softly. "But yes I am." He did shoot Bella a sidelong look, perhaps to remind her he was part 'ignorant human', or perhaps because he thought of himself as part monster. Vampires by nature, lost their soul, or something too akin to it for comfort, and that had always left him in doubt to his own nature and fate. He certainly had something of their 'beast' though in him, he knew it was less clear if you didn't know what to look for. "Kapa's are from japanese mythology are they not?" He asked. "I seem to recall hearing that as whole, they're supposed to be exceedingly fond of cucumbers." He noted, with a wink, trying to lighten the mood. "Since I'm rather fond of garlic, I wonder what you think of your own myth?"
"Nah." Quinlan noted, eyes squinted against the rush of wind. He read quite a bit himself, but his zest for something flashier than Nihls dusty music books had given him a taste for Batmans dark heroics, ironic with his fear of Nihls leatherywinged companions, or perhaps a means of justifying them. He's a SUPERHERO. They have cartoons about him. And comic books. Mostly about the first batman. He's a human, and he goes out and fights crazy scary bad guys. He's really cool.

Lotus listened to Erik explain the difference in evil and monsters. Then he nodded at his question. "Yes I really like cucumbers and salads mosetly. Sometimes sushi." He thought more about his myth. "I'm not sure. My first owner didn't want me because of it. But Ms. Bella says she doesn't think I'm a bad person."
"Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!" Jasmine squeeled, not really hearing Quinlan's explination. Suddenly she lost her grippe and got thrown from the merry-go-round. "Quinlaaaaaaaan!!!!"
"Not all monsters are horrible. They are only called monsters because people don't understand them." Bella smiled at Nihls.

"I'd put my faith in Ms. Bella. It's the people who take the time to see that usualy judge us the best." He jolted in surprise at the screech from off behind them, but didn't realize the sound was actual possible trouble.
"Jas!" Quinlan shouted in surprise, jumping off the merry-go-round after her, and rolling in the dirt as he landed. Not a graceful landing, but not one that did much more harm than a scraped elbow and a lot of dust as he scrambled up to try and check on her.

However Bella knew the sound and immediately got up to run towards Jasmine. She saw the little pixie on the ground sniffling by the merry-go-round. She just hoped her little girl was alright. "Jasmine! Jasmine are you ok?" She bent down to the examine the fallen pixie.
Jasmine sniffled at her elbow, it had a scrap on it. "It hurts mommy."
"I know baby, it will be ok." She reached into her pocket and took out a bandaid then put it on her elbow. "But you'll be ok. Next time don't go so fast ok.?"
She nodded with a sniffle. "Is Lan-lan ok?"

Blood, but not much of it. Broken bones seemed unlikely at best. Nihls took this in as his gaze shot after Bella, standing up from the edge of the fountain. No just a few scrapes, the utterly normal casualty of childhood. Quinlan wasn't even crying over his as he dusted himself off, poking at it with a sort of facination. The bold and the battlescarred. "I'm ok." He anounced bodly, lifting his chin to show off just how ok he was as Nihls walked toward them. "
"A spill then?" NIhls asked as he walked over, eyeing the merry go round as it spun without them. "Were you two trying to run Camptown over here?"
"...No...." Quinlan shrugged. "Jas wanted to see if we could time travel if we went fast enough."

"Now really Jas, I've told you that doesn't really work. Its just in the books." Bella smirked softly at her child as she lifted her up. Jasmine had a very active imagination and it could get the best of her at times.
"But it would still be neat to try!" She pouted a bit and looked at her elbow, the showed it to Quinlan. "I gots a bandaid!"
"Are you ok Jasmine?" The soft voice of her little brother came as Lotus hovered over to them. He had been scared something really bad had happened to his sister but he saw she had just taken a fall.

"Are you SURE it's just in books? I mean, Einstein said time is relative...." Quinlan pointed out, adding. "It's a cool bandaid. That was completely worth it. He beamed, somewhat wickedly.
"You're -bleeding-." Nihls pointed out, maybe a little sharply. "Bella, do you have a spare bandaid?" The smell was uncomfortably tantalizing, even coming from his adopted son, and he wanted it covered up with something as unpleasently medicinal and plastic as bandaid material. "I think they're both fine, Lotus, everyone seems in high spirits now that they have their battle scars on display."

"Of course, Erik. With children you can never have enough." She smirked and gave Quinlan a blue bandaid. "All better."
Jasmine smiled at her brother and hugged him. "I'm ok Lotus, nothing I can't handle!" She seemed so proud of her bandaid.
Lotus hugged her back and looked at the bandaids that Quinlan and Jasmine had gotten. He was just glad everyone was ok.

"I somehow must have managed to get by without them to the extent that I don't tend to think to carry them, regardless of the rambunctiousness of my charge." he admitted, with a raised eyebrow toward Quinlan, who grinned from ear to ear.

Bella just grinned and walked back over to the fountain, leaving her daughter to contine playing with Quinlan. She just made sure to remind her to be more careful. "She can be a handful sometimes but it is a joy to me to have so many children."
Jasmine smiled as her mother left and then looked to her playmates. Then looked around the playground. "We need a new game now. One that will include Lotus, I don't want him just sitting in the fountain all day!"
Lotus was about to go back with his mother when Jasmine announced the need for a game to include him. He sighed a bit, hardly as active as his hyper sister, but he was glad to be included. He looked from Quinlan to Jasmine, wondering what the two active minds would come up with. Hopefully it would be something fun.

"It's certainly changed things." Nihls agreed, as he followed Bella back to the fountain to sit down. "Though some times I think he's going to drive me to distraction. He says there's a ghost in the woods now. I'm not sure what to make of that. Too many horror stories I think." He shrugged, as they sat back down.
Quinlan rubbed his chin thougtfuly, eyeing the other child and debating what kind of game they might play. "What do you like to play?" he asked, fishing for information, so that the other boy wouldn't feel terribly left out or bored.
