Wyrsa continued to punish him - in her mind - by completely ignoring him. As far as he could know, she'd seen enough to figure out what was making the noise, and couldn't care less about him anymore.
She continued her meal, now moving a bit away and almost out of range of the lantern. Just in case he should decide to try hitting her again.

Letting off a loud snort, he stepped closer, still rattling his lantern. It had gotten to the point where if he rattled any harder, the lantern risked falling off the iron rod that held it. This mare was FRUSTRATING him!
He stood there, scowling, his eyes narrowed. Why this creature acted so oddly towards him compared to the others he had encountered, he wasn't sure. Was he losing his touch? NONSENSE. He was still in his prime, and better than ever. It had to be her that had the problem. And he'd regain that attention! He'd get another reaction out of her if it took lighting that blasted grass she loved so much on fire!
... though it'd be mighty tricky to try to get the flame from the lantern out onto the ground. Perhaps he'd have to rethink that idea.

Wyrsa smiled to herself. It was nice to be able to infuriate someone without having to fear losing a piece of her hide in between sharp teeth. She listened to the rattling of the lantern and it pleased her.
Though...he was getting closer again. The mare let the search for tasty plants move her out of range once more. They were getting towards a slight change in the level of the land. She wondered if he knew it was there. If not...Wyrsa bared her fangs in a grin, the expression hidden from the stallion by the bulk of her body.

He had had enough.
Stomping one foot, he increased his speed and approached even closer to where the mare grazed. He would make her pay attention to him!
Dropping his lantern extremely close to where her head was grazing, words found their way escaping his rarely used windpipe as he hissed out, "Whyyyy are you ignoring meee? Are you bliiiind?"

Wyrsa suppressed a chuckle. So. His patience had finally run out. And she hadn't even had to trip him either.
But...her mouth was full and it would be poor manners to talk with food in her mouth. So she turned to look at him, still chewing, and let her amusement show clearly in her eyes.
Perhaps his odd, hissing voice was why he hadn't said anything earlier.

He was more than frustrated at this point, and more than willing to express it to this ignorant mare, who STILL continued to chew on that blasted grass, even going as far as to having the gall to smirk at him while she chewed!
"Dooo you thiiink this is some kiiind of gaaame?" he forced out, still adjusting to actually using his voice. He knew it was bad if it had gotten to this point. "Or perhaaaps someone already riiiiped out your tooongue?"

Finished with her mouthful, Wyrsa finally smiled. And paused, making sure her word selection was just right. More amusement rippled through her voice with every word.
"A game? Perhaps indeed with your childish attempts to make me utter the first words," she commented, neatly deflecting his accusation back. "I was merely enjoying my meal and the quiet of the night," the mare added, a touch of haughtiness elevating her tone.

"Chiiiildish?" he hissed, eyes narrowing even further, "Iiii didn't insiiist you talk. Iiii merely wanted to be notiiiiced, though you rudely thought to do otherwiiiiise."
He pawed at the ground underneath him, still trying to deal with his frustration. If he had wanted her to talk in the first place, he would have told so. No... he wanted reactions. He lived to see others' reactions. And this mare.. this blasted silly mare refused to give one to him!

"Reactions?" Wyrsa repeated, anger making her hiss slightly. The yellow eyes narrowed and her body quivered with tension before she could calm herself again. Mostly.
"You were shaking your little lantern to get a reaction," the mare put together, anger still in her voice, fangs bared. "Self-centered, ignorant piece of sketi," she muttered, knowing it was loud enough for him to hear.
With that, she turned and headed for the deeper woods at a fast trot, remembering the sudden change in the level of the land. With a bit of luck, the stallion wouldn't notice the drop in the shadows his lantern hadn't penetrated.

His face broke out into a grin, as if he were a happy little puppy. She had finally snapped and mouthed off at him. It wasn't as nearly as dramatic as he'd wanted, especially after all that trouble he went to, but it would do. It'd have to do. Who knew he'd tire out so easily after talking for such a short while? It irked him that he had to talk at all to finally hold the mare's attention, but drastic times called for drastic measures.
Watching her walk off, he silently vowed he'd meet her again. Leaning down, he lifted his lantern up with his mouth, and turned around. He'd meet her again, and he'd practice in the meantime. He'd work and work and when he saw her again, she wouldn't be able to NOT give him attention!
Grinning, he trotted off in the opposite direction, weaving off and into the night.
