She stared at the landscape around her. Where was she? Dry and grasses that rustled slightly. It reminded her of a vast sea of grass. Now and then she caught movement but everything around her was rather hazy.
She wasn't afraid, merely curious as to how she got there. Tempted to get to her feet, she instead decided just to sit still. The grasses had always drawn her with their wide openness. These did the same to her.
The strange clouds drifted past as she sat silently watching. Finding various shapes within them, she snickered several times to see a bunny with fins swimming or even a flying fish. Both creatures of the imagination. It reminded her of the times she and others had done this and she giggled again.
When she spotted the bright blue spot in the distance, she wondered what it was. It barely peeked out from the grasses around it. For an instant it disappeared as the grasses waved in the faint breeze. But as it reappeared, she became even more curious. Twice she glanced away only to return to staring at it.
Finally getting to her feet, Eftemie began walking towards it, her teeth tugging on her lower lip. Stopping just in front of it, she stared. Reaching down, she touched it tentatively. It seemed slightly warm to her.
*What are you?* she asked as she felt compelled to pick it up and hold it for a moment. Sitting down, she laughed. *You almost look like an egg of some sort. But I've never seen anything as blue as you are.* She laughed again. *I would think red for danger or yellow for caution. Or even green for go. But blue.. that's a tough one.* Then she blinked realizing how silly she probably sounded talking to it and laughed again. Let them think her crazy. She liked it.

She continued just holding it for several hours. At least it seemed like hours. The happiest feeling came to her as she talked and stroked it. Occasionally the feeling of silliness swept over her, but she'd begin to giggle and still continue to hang onto the large blue.. pearl, for lack of a better word, that she held.
It made her feel wonderful as if someone had done something especially sweet just for her. Remembrances of laughter and sunny days shoved their way into view as she listened to the grass rustling around her and the breeze tossing her hair around.
Whatever it was she had decided she was keeping it. It was hers. Time would tell whether she was being silly or not. Or in a dream or not. The thoughts of a picnic slipped down over her and soon she was joined by others. With a smile she got to her feet after putting the blue pearl in her pocket. It would be safe and warm there.
Afterall she didn't want to lose it since she had claimed it.
