Antony nodded, moving slightly to the right. His eyes widened as the eyes of the painting followed him, and he moved to the left.
The painting was watching him...

Delilah continued to watch the painting with a veneer of calm. "I really, really don't like that painting," she informed Antony again. "It's staring... Which is rude."

He blinked, a bit shocked by that statement, then nodded seriously. "You're quite right," he said. "Shall we go on, then?" he added, looking around. There were three doors, one open that led to more stairs, going down this time.
"Do we want to look through the other rooms before going down?"

She turned her head to study the doors thoughtfully, pretty face pondering. "I think it might be interesting," she offered and this time her statement was a bit shy as if checking to see if he agreed with her. "Would you like to pick the door?"

"I will," he said as he turned to the left and led her to the door there. He opened it, looking through the door hesitantly before walking in. The room was small, and crowded with cobwebbed covered items that looked as if they belonged in an attic.
"Huh," he said as he stepped in. The floor creaked under his feet.

Delilah followed closely and kept tight, firm hold on his hand. She squinted in the dimness and wrinkled her nose at the cobwebs. When Antony stopped for a moment, she banged into his shoulder with a little gasp. "Oh! I'm sorry."

He looked over at her, smiling slightly. "It's fi--" he jerked, looking up with a slight frown on his face. "Something just moved," he said, looking at the mannequin by the fake window.

While her expression never changed, she moved to stand closer to Antony and her hands wound around his arm. "Was it something big?" she asked quietly.

"I didn't see it very clearly," he admitted, slowly approaching the mannequin, his hand reaching for the veil she wore over her face.

As his hand came near, though, the entire mannequin jerked shakily and its head dipped down with a startling crack. Manic laughter followed immediately and Delilah finally made her own noise - a delicate little shriek that was quickly muffled into Antony's shoulder.

Antony jerked back, his eyes wide and terrified before, forgetting his chivalrous nature, he raced out of the room, heading for the open door that led to the stairs.

Left adrift and alone for a moment, Delilah froze and stared at the spot which used to contain Antony. Then, angered beyond belief, she reached out to push the mannequin backwards. "Jerk," she spat. Calm immediately seemed to return then and she pelted down the stairs after her wayward escort, whimpering his name dutifully.
Back in the room, Brunswick flopped down on the mannequin's shoulder and rubbed at his head, blinking a lot. "Ouch," he muttered. "She caught me in the middle, dammit. Who'd've thought?"

Antony stopped on the first stair and turned, abruptly realizing that princes DO NOT leave their princesses to suffer. "Delilia--AHHH!" he screamed as the stairs turned into a slide under his weight. He fell on his stomach with a grunt, sliding backwards.

Worse yet and possibly more bruising for his ego, Delilah herself came slipping down the stairs to land atop him in a heap a second later. "Oof!" she gasped.
