She laughed triumphantly as he began pinned in the water. Yea, sure, it was probably because he was smaller than her but she denied that fact for the sheer joy of the situation. One of the things she enjoyed was having fun but as an adult, that seemed so hard to come by.
At his comment, her eyes widened. "H-hey ah-ha-ha," her shocked melted into laughter and a shiver as her back became submersed in water.
She picked herself up and shot him a face of mock indignity. Laini shook the water out of her fur making sure that at least some of it splashed him.

He just chuckled and twisted his body so the water spraying off of her wouldn't hit him in the face. He grinned and leaned down, drinking a little before stretching, tail flicking. He looked rather amusing soggy.
"I win!" He claimed, though he didn't know how he'd won. He shifted and slipped back to the shore. "So wha's this pride yehr goin' to like?" Well he should learn about it if he wanted to school Siyo on everything he'd need to know once he was stuck with such a fun, intelligent beauty.
That and he wouldn't want to be found out by Laini, who would probably knock him in the head hard.
Once he got on land he shook himself up, the effect caused his fur to poof slightly. "Like the beliefs an' stuff." Games could always come later, right?

"You wish," she sang in reply to his declaration.
She noticed how interested he seemed in knowing almost everything about her. Many a lass might find it unnerving but she just found it rather amusing. Then again, every girl has an ego and likes attention. Stroke just right and you get them to purr.
Laini stretched before settling herself on the ground. It would be a test to remember all that Muroki had told them but she would try. And so, she told him all about the belief in the sun's constant rebirth, the current situation with the vultures, the reverence of death, and the ceremonies, making sure to joke sweetly about how mates bond together in a marriage ceremony which bonds them for life and how her uncle Mo and friend and king, Muroki, were both to be married after the vultures were gone. "It seems like everyone in my little traveling group is getting paired off," she joked except me...

He listened carefully, watching her ears or her paws as she spoke, sometimes looking to his own paws. This was alright but he didn't care too much about pride traditions. Siyo actually would, to be honest. He was the one that liked learning all about the different places they went to.
His ears twitched and he brought his gaze to hers, staring directly into her eyes. surprise was on his face. "Bonds fer life eh.." He said slowly, something mischievous in his voice. That was perfect! "'ow d'yeh go abou' ge'in married?" Oh wait he should be commenting on other things too, shouldn't he!
"An' thas too ba' abou' the vultures.." He finally looked around at the skies and the land when he mentioned them, trying to spot them. Oh, there were quite a few around these parts. More than he was used to seeing, anyhow. He frowned lightly and shuddered, vultures were creepy.
"Will yeh need 'elp in ge'in'em away from yer pride?"

The way he was acting, he made her think of a spy, abeit, a very bad one at that. Then again, she might be expected to talk about said things to children as a nanny. And practice makes perfect, right?
"Well, I'm not quite sure but I'm sure you'd probably have to talk about it with Muroki, or mention it to him at least. I don't think we have anyone trained as a priest so he's the best we've got. And I'm not sure how the ceremony would go because I've never witnessed one." She suspected they were usually consummated but she didn't mention such a thing. Certainly not without risking blushing.
"Well Muroki's certainly looking for all the help he can get to help fight the vultures," she said with a nod. Didn't know how effective Jo, Mo, and Safiya would be against the vultures and that left her, Muroki, and Kainda ...and she didn't know how good the odds were for that!

He'd have to meet this Muroki she mentioned so much. Yes, then he could learn all about their little ceremonies and all that. He let the subject of marriage drop and took more interest in fighting off vultures. You see, that sounded fun, being bonded for life not so much!
"Well I be sure teh stop by sometime if yeh would no' mind. I coul' fight off my fair share!" He grinned at her. Ah what was Sawa doing? Cocky attitudes were not for Siyo! Not at all!
"I guess I shoul' mee' this Muroki too. Wha's he like?"

Laini actually unlike Sawa entertained the idea of being bonded for life with someone. Ever since she was little, she had had to take care of herself. To be bonded to someone, to have someone who could and would take care of her for the rest of her life, to have someone she wouldn't need to be strong for. That was what she wanted for herself, to take a break from being Miss Independent.
She laughed at his bravery. "Yea, ok," she laughed. Stroking a male's ego never really seemed to work out in her favor so much so she really didn't try. That, and from past experiences had gotten many a good - as in enjoyable for her- reaction from crushing it.
"Well," she pondered, "he's really nice, easy to get along with, but protective of his friends. If you tell him you'd love to help him win back his pride, I'm sure he'd love to have you 'on-board'."

He snorted. "Naw, I coul'." He insisted because of her sarcastic 'yeah, okay'. He stuck his tongue out childishly at her and then laughed, shifting.
So Muroki (in Sawa's mind) was the typical 'hero' character. A good lion all around, probably handsome and had an easy way with females. He bet he had one female in his eye (as an apple? how did that saying go? Sawa didn't remember) and only one. He sounded... alright. Good for talking, not so good for adventure.
"Aye, I jus' migh'. Plus then I coul' spend more time with yeh, eh?" He gave her a charming grin.
Wrong!
The grin slipped off his face and he coughed. "It do bea' si'in in the bakin' son wai'in abou' fer Sawa, tha' is."

Laini blinked at his words ...all of them. Why were males never straightforward? If they like you, why can't they just say so? Had she had any less restraint, she might have tossed her head in frustration. But as stated, she had indeed come to the conclusion that he must like her. And really, Laini knew she was a pretty easy catch. Had he been trying for her affections, he would have them. Why didn't males get this?
He had dropped so many hints, as they could be interpreted, just to turn around and deny that they are indeed hints. Well which was it? "Well, go on. Make up your mind." It was a little impatient-sounding so she said it sweetly, with a smile. He better tell her least she confuse herself and feel like a darned, cheated fool in the end.

He blinked and just laughed. Demanding, wasn't she? Well if she wanted a more direct Siyo then he could give her one. "Alrigh', alrigh'. I's so I can spen' more time with yeh.." Aww,,, 'siyo' admitted he could have feelings for a girl. Sawa was so proud! (And probably needed to have some sense beaten into him).

There were things said about how guys didn't express their feelings but there was just as much if not more said for the fickleness of women. Now that he had said it, that he had admitted it, she wondered to herself if she was even ready to hear such a thing. Because, usually, isn't one supposed to do something sweet in return?
"Thank you," she said with a smile. Oh gosh, she had just made it awkward, hadn't she? "I'm sorry for... pushing you like that."

She wasn't the least bit interested? Well that was not good, was it? "Do I no' intrigue yeh enough?" His brows rose.

It wasn't so much that Laini wasn't interested. It was that she had put herself in an awkward position that had jumbled her thoughts, causing her not to be able to think straight, much less analyze her feelings. Despite the fact that she wanted to be taken care of and loved, she was in the same moment afraid to devote herself to such a thing that it made her panic just a little.
"I suppose it does get the answers one wants," she laughed. "Intrigue me enough?" She giggled. "Well you certainly are intriguing and just a bit confusing." She just... she just didn't know what to say without over- or under-expressing herself.

He smirked slightly and let the topic drop. She was interested, on some level. As long as he had the hook in he could wait, couldn't he?
"An'ways 'ow abou' yeh introduce me teh tha' li'l group yeh be mentionin' off an' on?" He rose and stretched, as if he was ready to go meet them. After he got in good with the little gang he could bring up feelings again, couldn't he?

She blinked at him, a bit confused and her heart pounded a little harder. Her eyes darted a bit, revealing a mind in thought, "Yea... yea, I can do that," she said with a nod. "Come on!" She grinned and him and turned back to where she had come from, sashaying her moments as she walked. She did so love being a little tease.
