okay, if I've never heard it, it's not the greatest rock song ever.

Uh, no. That song is excellent. Just because it's not on a really popular greatest hits album or on the radio all the time doesn't mean it's not one of the greatest songs.

Oh, and I changed my mind.

The greatest rock song ever written is "Wille The Pimp" by Frank Zappa.

That's NOT a rock song. xp That said, it rules.

It totally is a rock song. It's one of Zappa's most rocking solos.

Wyvern Knight
All good choices but I would have liked to have seen "Wish you were here" by Pinky
...even though they're my favorite band, there's no way in hell I'd put there stuff up against Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. Let's face it, Dave is NOT as good as Syd. Roger Waters was really the head of the band after Syd went crazy.

Dave isn't better than Syd. They both had very different styles. Syd was one of the greatest psychadelic guitarists, David Gilmour was one of the best progressive guitarists.

Like hell it is. That album is a jazz fusion album.

From there I picked Hotel California because I think that song is incredible, with an awesome solo. Why isn't the Who up there?! Pinball Wizard or Baba O'Riley or Wont Get Fooled Again should be up there! CCR's Proud Mary had a bunch of covers

Somebands are a bit over rated. To me, Led Zepplin is way over rated. And some other bands too. But I also don't think Stairway to Heaven is the greatest song they sang though. I can't remember how it goes or the name of the song that was from them, but I like it.

Here's a list of some other favorites.

ZZ Top: Double Back Again
Aerosmith: Dream On
Foreigner: Juke Box Hero
Who: Love Reign Over Me (I think that's the name)
Don Henley: boys of summer (not exactly classic rock, but hey, I still like it)
Beatles: I am the Walrus
REO Speedwagon: Riding the Storm Out
ACDC: TNT or Dirty Deeds
Rolling Stones: Under My Thumb
Jimi Hendrix: Foxy Lady blaugh
Neil Young: Hey Hey, My MY
Pink Floyd: Welcome to the Machine
Tom Petty: Running Down a Dream
Kiss: Lick it Up
Styx: Cna't really say, but something from JY rolleyes

And like I said, that's some of my favorites. rolleyes blaugh

I was scrolling through your list going "Styx, Styx, Styx, she couldn't have forgotten it!" I think "Man of Miracles" would work for JY...

Thoughs aren't over played at my classic rock station. Heck! they hardly play the Jimi Hendrix and Aerosmith songs. I have to Watch VH1 Classics just to hear the Neil Young one. The ACDC ones are the only one that I've heard that I like from the extremely small playlist my station has. crying

lol! I was thinking something more along the lines of Midnight Ride for a classic one. And something from recent styx records that he did for today.

Why is Neil Young highlighted?
I always felt he was a very underrated artist.
Though, that isn't his best song.
"Cortez the Killer" or "Down By The River" would get my vote.
