She watched him carefully, peering at the way he moved. He had the basics down, at least. Jump and flap. "Try this." She ran forward a few steps and flung herself into the air, flapping her wings with practiced ease. "Give yourself a little bit of takeoff. Remember the jump and flap, it's the base, but now you're going to try and get some air under your wings."
Something was a bit off, almost, but Yue couldn't rightly place her finger on it. "Don't get downhearted if you don't get in the air right away, remember. Okay?" She dropped back into the ground, stirring up dust.

Gemini nodded and watched her as she showed him the basics. Her wings looked much stronger than his, but that was no surprise as she had just come soring from the sky and he had yet to really do more than glide. "Right." he nodded his head in determination. He jumped and flapped, jumped and flapped. Flapped and jumped. It seemed that with time he was managing more hang time in the air before he would have to jump up again. It was small, but it was progress. He needed more strength in his wings, and upon closer obsevation one wing seemed to flap harder and faster than the other which caused him to be off balance.

Yue frowned, watching him closely. "You're lagging." she said finally. "Come over here?" the question sounded more like an order than the question she pretended to phrase it as. "You aren't flapping in coordination. Did you have something happen to tighten the muscles in this wing?"
She wasn't a very good healer, but she had been taught a few basics by one of the many unicorns she knew. Alicorns couldn't fly as high as their wind family, or heal as well as their unicorn family, but they were masters of doing a little of both. And Yue had been a curious child who wanted to know everything. Plus. her friend Quisty had told her once it was sort of like... a sacred duty. 'If you have the power to heal, you have to. Everyone needs a little healing, be it of the body, the mind, or the soul; and there are far too few who do it. There is darkness and suffering everywhere, and it's everyone's duty to try and ease what little bit they can, to atone for the pain they cause even when they don't mean to.'

Gemini stopped flapping his wings and finally stalled on the ground long enough to see she wanted him to come over. He was nearly out of breath but he looked back at his wing with the furrowed brow. Streching it this way and that as he watched it in comparison to the other wing, she was right. There was a slight hinderance of movement that he had never really noticed before. He looked at her with confused silver eyes, the eyes of a colt not fully understanding what was happening.
"I dont know..." he said at last. Searching his memory for anything which might have caused this.. then he remembered all to vividly what had caused it. "The Kalona...." he said slowly.

Her head tilted as he thought it over, eyeing the stallions wings carefully. "Kalona?" the question sounded half-murmured, as she pondered her next action. "They can be rough companions." she said finally. She'd heard some horror stories about their breed, but the only kalona she could remember meeting was Calamity. And that was only once, when she was very young. Her mother and Tehya, however, had taught her to respect them, though not to fear. "Please tell me what happened? I might be able to do something, or one of my companions might, but I need to know what happened before a decision like that could be made."

Gemini looked at her and lightly furrowed his brow. He didnt know if he wanted to tell that story. After all he had been the one at fault and gotten himself in trouble. He sighed as he flexed his wing and felt the ache from that old injury. He would tell her, if she could honestly help him. As he looked at Yue he could tell by the expression on her face that she did truely mean to help him and it wasnt just some ploy.
"well..." he began, "I was fairly young, not much out of the basket yet when I wandered to far away from my parents. A Kalona had been hunting and picked me out, since I was alone. She dove from the sky and grabbed me by the wing. There was a couple times she nearly drropped me but caught me again. I think all my weight dangling from my wing tore something deep inside that has never propperly healed."

Yue shuddered ever so slightly at his story. That was horrible. "Poor child." She shook her head. "That must have been terrible." Hearing the story, she was even more determined to do what she could for him. She nodded her head once, determined, and bent her head so she could take a peek at his wing again. "Would you mind doine me a favor? Stretch out the wing as much as you can, just one more time? Then hold it for a little bit for me. It may tickle, but don't bring your wing down. I doubt my horn in your wing would feel very good, and I'm going to put my nose kind of close."
