Holding Loveless aginst his side, Antony had lowered his head to nuzzle at her braid when Ariston's words caught him completely off-guard. He had to be teasing, right? It wasn't like he could infer that much out of one HUG, after all, not when he was himself an affectionate sort. He had to be just teasing them, since when the four of them had last been together there had been no such demonstrative behavior. Then again, the last time the four of them had been together, Loveless had been a filly, so that really couldn't be that much of a shock. Yes, he had to be teasing them..

However, Ariston wasn't the only father present. While he might have been the first one to vocalize, Guilian had been watching intently and amusedly as Antony snugged Loveless. Unlike Ariston, he knew nothing of Loveless' typical behaviors; however, he DID know Tony's, and he knew that Tony was an affectionate stallion. That fact alone might have been enough to ignore the hug as nothing more than playful interaction, were it not for the way that Antony froze and gave Ariston a wide-eyed stare of disbelief at the 'so how long has this been going on' question. Antony was a jokester; the expected reaction would be for him to grin and give some crazy and ridiculously long/short amount of time and talk about destiny or some other such silly thing. Not to just stand there and stare in a shocked fashion. But given that he was...

"Oh my goodness, Ariston, it would seem that this meeting has come not a moment too soon, if my senses aren't deceiving me!" Grinning evilly, Guilian walked past the younger Soquilis, giving them the same maddening grin before he finally stopped beside his friend. "I think that I ought to know what intentions your daughter has towards my son, Ariston; can't have her taking advantage of him, after all!"

Still, in spite of his teasing tone Guilian was both amazed and amused. He had to admit that in choosing Loveless for a partner Antony was exhibiting great taste; she was a very lovely mare, after all, and complemented Antony well. No doubt they enjoyed each other a great deal, when they met and allowed themselves the intimacy...but still, it was strange to see Antony so floored. Guilian knew he had lovers, so why on earth would he be embarassed to admit it? Surely Ariston wouldn't be appalled, considering what sort of lifestyle HE lived; they weren't here to pass judgement, after all!

Loveless was once again flustered from Guilian's comment, and she wanted to hide herself away from the two father figures. It hadn't occurred to her that her father had never seen her act that way towards a male, so she felt ridiculous as the new topic of discussion. CRAP. Why hadn't something as simple as that drifted into her mind before? She had thought of everything else, except that!

Either way, she was just terrible when it came to having luck in any situation. "I have no such intentions like that, Guilian." she then said, while persuading herself to act confident. She would never take advantage of Antony, and all jokes aside, she felt compelled to answer the red stallion.

Guilian's question didn't seem like it needed a true answering, and after thinking about it logically, Loveless wondered if answering made her look even more desperate!

Ariston was grinning at his daughter, and he gave his friend a light shrug before itching his back with his wing. "It looks like Loveless is speaking her mind, which is giving off the impression of the truth. She is an honest gal." Shooting his friend a similar comedic smile, he then brought his eyes to Antony, who was suddenly sullen and quiet. "Well what about your son Guilian? I think I have a right to know his intentions." Ariston just had to add in his own playful jester into the game that was erupting around the four of them.

Or.. maybe Antony didn't want to acknowledge any of those things?! It was strange, since Antony had become completely silent all of the sudden. Ariston didn't know how to take such a change in the air, and he looked at Loveless warmly before folding his wings back to his sides. "Goodness dear, you just keep becoming a mystery to me!" And, although his joke to his daughter was playful, it seriously held too much truth.

It basically reinstated the fact that Loveless was older now, and Ariston needed to accept that as a good father figure. But.. that didn't mean he had to COMPLETELY behave himself, since that kind of thing wasn't in his nature anyways.

"Of course she doesn't; she is your daughter and a good girl, of course." Looking away from the younger two to grin at his friend, Guilian proceded to give Ariston a barely perceptible wink of amusement at how very successful thus far their innocuous plan to torment was going. Granted, it hadn't been an actual plan to start out with, but that made it's success that much more entertaining!

However, if Antony had anything to say about it that amusement would soon run out. Keeping Loveless snug against his side, Tony took another moment to regain his composure, then looked up and gave Ariston a grin. "Intentions? You two are saying that two old friends and acquaintances can't so much as exchange compliments and snuggle without having ulterior motives? I am appalled at you both and your complete disregard for the realm of non-romantic affection. Don't you agree, Lessy?"

Giving the mare at his side a smile, Antony tilted his head so that one side would be unseeable by the two stallions before giving Loveless a wink, intending that she play along if she understood. "I mean, just because Loveless is a gorgeous and sprightly mare and I myself am a handsome stud doesn't mean that we have to think about each other in those terms, does it? I swear, this older generation is so suspicious!"
PostPosted: Sat Oct 13, 2007 10:24 pm

Feeling confident from Antony's words, Loveless gave her father a playful glare and huffed at him loudly. "Seriously, father, YOU in general should know these things. When is the last time you even considered romance? Ah yes, never, am I correct?" And with fluttered eyelashes, she continued to give her father a smiley grin until she finally shrugged her shoulders at the two. "It just seems odd that the two people who should understand this sort of thing, don't." With a finishing nod, Loveless wondered if her words even made sense, since her initial reaction as a large tangent of words. But either way, she felt like she had at least contributed to Antony's brave words.

Ariston grunted and shook his head at Antony, before then giving his daughter a disgruntled expression. "Darling, you know not to get snooty with me towards that sort of thing. I am only acting out the part of a concerned father." Since.. Loveless seemed to get a strange amount of confidence from the white stallion. "But either way, if that is what you and Antony say, then so be it. I shall refrain from any other reactions or thoughts." And with a flick of his tail, he gave Guilian a shrug. "I really am not good at caring about this sort of thing anyways." Maybe Guilian could enjoy himself more? Since at this point, Ariston was too confused!

Chuckling, Guilian gave Ariston a tsking head shake. Not being as well-versed in what was common for Loveless, he only had his own beliefs and opinions to go by. Given Antony's recovery, by now Guilian had decided that Antony's intial reticence must have been due to the general awkwardness of conducting oneself around the parents of one's lovers; having been down that road himself, he couldn't blame his son for his uncertainty. Hopefully Ariston's acceptance had been a key point in this new attitude, though; he himself much prefered seeing his son smiling and energetic.

However, it looked like Ariston needed a bit of help in the 'serious' department. Teasing was well and good, but occassionally...

Turning to give the younger two a grin, Guilian straightened up a bit and winked. "Well, Loveless, it isn't that often that two old stallions like Ariston and myself find ourselves in the sort of situation where we can simultaneously tease our respective offspring. However, you two are both adults, and the important thing is that whatever you're doing, you enjoy it. And, of course, are aware of the potential side effects." This with a pronounced look at his son; having grown up witnessing Guilian and Izusa's tumultuous relationship, Antony hopefully knew enough to be as supportive and sensible as possible in the result of kids. He hoped.

"But anyway. What have you been up to, Ariston?" That subject had been beaten to death by now, he'd think.

Blinking for a moment, Antony soon decided that at least from his father's point of view, everything was fine and the subject was dropped. He could do with that, even with humor this sort of situation with just awkward. However.

Leaning closer to Loveless, Antony whispered softly, "Can I talk to you for a moment, Lessy? Minus the fathers?"

Much as he'd wanted to talk to his father, seeing Loveless here made talking to Guilian a secondary aim, at least at the moment. Seeeing as how he was confused about Loveless, talking to HER would likely make the most sense.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 15, 2007 9:20 pm

Loveless was listening to Guilian carefully until Antony had come into her full view. Talk? Privately? That would probably be the best thing.. "Sure Antony, let's walk away from here for a moment, shall we?" Giving him a kind nod, she looked to the fathers, who seemed content in their own discussion. She was lucky that they hadn't seen each other in awhile, so her and Antony walking away couldn't phase them TOO much. They always had enough to talk about between each other anyways.

Dragging herself back on subject, she looked towards Antony and felt a nervousness arise in her body. What would he want to talk about then? Ugh, hopefully it wouldn't be too complex for her to handle. "So.." she then said, while gazing around at some moving clouds. "Whatsup, Antony?" Yes, start with the question, so then she could prepare herself of course!

]Ariston saw his daughter mumbling something to Antony, and before he could sigh he was cued in on the red stallion's question. "Well me? Sadly I don't have any fun or crazy plans. I am trying to plot some things at the moment, but.." with a chuckle, he flicked some strands of hair out of his eyes, "..I seem to becoming more relaxed, which is strange. Have you ever had that sensation come over you, Guilian?" Ariston couldn't explain it, but he found that simple things were now starting to make him feel comfortable.

"But when it comes to all of the new beauties I am noticing arrive in this land.. I have been better then ever." And with his usual wink, he chuckled at his bright friend. Some things could never change, of course.

Nodding in agreement with Loveless, Antony moved off with her after giving the two fathers only a minimal glance. They'd understand, and besides; it was always easier for four people to have two conversations over one. So he felt no qualms in leaving them, mid-conversation as it was.

After a few minutes of walking, though, it seemed that they'd put enough distance between themselves and their fathers who, while still visible, were extremely distant. Hopefully they'd take that as a sign.

But after stopping, it was as though a wall had come down between Antony and Loveless. He'd had things he wanted to talk about, but suddenly...well, to be honest he wasn't sure to go about asking. Why was this so awkward?

At her question, though, he knew he'd have to give some sort of answer. "Um...the sky, the clouds, some random unfall precipitation, probably a few Soquilis.." Ok, that was lame. Moving on!

Shifting slightly, Antony turned to look at the river, the constant stream of water a soothing distraction from the awkwardness of the current situation. What to do, what to do...

Well, he might as well take the bull by the horns. Shifting again to look at Loveless, Antony took a deep breath. "Well, I guess that I had a couple things I was uncertain about, Lessy. For starters...are you ok? With me, I mean." Let's make that as clear as possible, thanks much! "You seemed really shakey last time we...saw each other, and you left awfully fast. I didn't hurt you or anything, did I?"

~~~
Seemingly taking no notice of the departure of the young people, Guilian nevertheless followed them down the river a bit with his gaze before returning his features to Ariston. "What, no crazy plans? That's yet another sign of old age, Ariston, when you allow yourself to become lethargic. Keep up with THAT state of affairs and you'll get fat!"
Tsking at the very idea, Guilian gave Ariston a pronounced headshake, though the severity of his expression was spoiled by an impish grin. "But yes...there ARE some new lovelies around, aren't there? It gives a stallion hope in a better world, at that!" If he did say so himself. "I trust you've been making the rounds, then?"
Ahh.. crap. At Antony's first response, Loveless only looked away and let out a fake giggle. There was definitely some dry humor in his comment, and she could only gaze away from him, as usual. It also messaged to her that he felt just as uncomfortable as she was, and they both really needed to break away from that feeling! So, in an effort to do something, Loveless strode a few steps in front of Antony, and looked him head on. With kind eyes, she then let out a wide grin.
"No, you didn't do anything Antony. You never do anything wrong, so don't think that. If anything, you are way too nice to me." With a flushed face, she continued to hold herself in front of him, since all of her awkward feelings were finally vanishing from her mind. There was no reason to dwell in thoughts that hadn't been answered, so Loveless felt compelled to just let her own opinions out. "I shouldn't have vanished so quickly.. I really am such a strange thing." Narrowing her eyes, she shook the sadness out of their glimmer. "I am so sorry for that, Antony. I am such an idiot that I can't even look at you properly. I hope you can at least forgive me."
There was no reason to cry, none at all. AND, since the fathers were still in the distance of where they stood, Loveless decided to take a gulp and hold back her tears. It was pretty clear that she was upset with herself, but letting her emotions out now would be too shameful. "I am glad we are finally talking, and clearing this all up. I am usually so good with confrontation, but I don't know why lately I have felt so insecure. It really is terrible, but.." Looking back up at the stallion, Loveless smiled again, ignoring her horrible thoughts from before. "Since you were so open when you walked over to me today, I realized I need to be like that to you. So I promise I will be like this from now on. I have missed talking to you, that I can't afford to just hide all the time."
Walking and huddling closer to the stallion, she closed her eyes and felt a weight shift fall from her body. FINALLY, she could just say what she wanted, and get over whatever madness filled her brain. It proved to her that sometimes she needed to find the confidence in herself, the confidence which she had so many months ago, and use it to better herself.
"Lethargic? Well, I wouldn't consider it THAT serious." With a silly expression, she shuffled his hooves on some soft grass. "I just find enjoyment in random things recently. Like the other day, I enjoyed a nice flight with a very kind mare, and we TALKED. Can you believe that?" The concept itself was hard for most to believe, since Ariston hated hearing about other's who were new to him. "But well, something too intellectual bores me, but I suppose light conversations can be very exciting nowadays."
"I knew you would understand that sort of thing, since you are always quite suave with words." And with a pause, he gave Guilian a toothy but delightful grin. "Oh please, Guilian. Must you ask? That would be as crazy as me asking you the same thing, right?" And with a comfortable laugh, Ariston patted his friend lightly with his golden wing.
As he listened to Loveless, Antony found himself letting out a breath he hadn't even been holding. So she had felt uncertain, too? Well, that actually made sense; the two of them had crossed a lot of territory together, mentally, and it only made sense that some of it would be foreign.
"Hey, no need to apologize; I was probably pushing the envelope a bit myself, after all." He HAD been a bit determined last time, first for one reason, then for another. "And I have to say, suspicion doesn't suit me, so I'm glad that you're being so open with me, you know? It makes things easier to deal with." Smiling, Antony lifted his wing slightly so that, if she wanted to, Loveless could snuggle beneath it against his side. "But in the name of making things easier, let's try and start fresh, ok? Be friends, talk to each other, actually NOT threaten or try to kill one another, make eye contact, and periodically have some energetic sex?"
It was just like Antony to try and lighten the mood that way, but he was honestly sincere about the basic gist of what he was saying. Awkwardness sucked, and he actually enjoyed spending time with Loveless, when they WEREN'T trying to act 'normal'. "Sound good?"
~~~

Guilian had to admit that Ariston had a point; if anything, his friend's pride would keep him svelte. But he couldn't resist the chance to torment, if just briefly. Though he wasn't sure if Ariston was turning the tables on him or not with that 'talk' comment? "Surely you jest, Ariston. Since when do YOU talk? You never talk, not in the way that mares talk. Or is your definition of talking simply an exchange of names and preferences?" THAT was something he'd believe.

But then, who cared about the details? At Ariston's 'wink and nudge', Guilian only grinned back. "Well, I think that we both know the answer to those questions even without asking, don't you agree?"
PostPosted: Tue Oct 16, 2007 9:21 pm

The dark female did move closer to Antony, and she continued to rest next to him as he spoke. She didn't move a muscle for awhile, until she heard Antony's last statement come out of his mouth. With a slight jolt, she lifted her head up and blushed at him. "Isn't it wrong to talk about such a thing so casually? Or.. maybe I am just lame like that.." With a light smile, she dug her head into his side so she wouldn't have to look at him. Sometimes she felt so immature when it came to THOSE issues, but in a sense, she was glad Antony was right.

"But yeah, that sounds good to me." Almost TOO good in her opinion, but there was no reason to boast that. "I don't want to become a burden or anything, so I always worry you know." Seriously, her worry tactics needed to leave her alone! The first step was to stop thinking in such a way but that in itself was probably impossible.

"Oh you know, talking brings more females over, since the intellectual thing seems to go well with beauty." With a sage nod, he let out a quirky grin before glancing at the stallion. "Females like to be impressed by both wit and appearance I suppose. Not everyone can be swept off their hooves in a complete instant, which is a shame, you know?" Maybe he was a dreamer but, in his world, looks were ALL that mattered.

"Well of course I agree. Oh, and I meant to ask.." glancing his purple eyes on the adolescents for a moment, he pondered the best way to phrase his question. "I only met your daughter Amary briefly. But, doesn't it worry you that something so beautiful may be swept away too easily? I feel as if I am worrying about your own children!" Shaking his head at his foolishness, he resumed looking at their two kin while shaking his head. "Maybe THAT is more of a surprise to me, so I am now worrying for your newly grown daughter, since my own is completely out of my grasp of knowledge. Makes me feel like an Uncle." Or really, just a creep! "But seriously, I don't know how to take in all of this." Guilian was lucky, he ALWAYS handled everything better then he did.

As he was looking at Loveless at the time, Antony was able to witness her charmingly innocent discomfiture at his possibly outrageous words. However, that was enough to make him chuckle, comparing the brazen behavior she'd exhibited the first time they'd met (upon her reaching adulthood, that is) to this current prim appearance. How very charming, and utterly teasable.

Grinning even as she buried her head against his side, Antony only laughed off her concern. "Why shouldn't such a casual thing be talked about casually? As I think we've mentioned, whispering fancy euphemisms under cover of darkness is for those who feel that sex is something to be ashamed of or kept under lock and key, and as you very well know I think neither of those things. If it offends your delicate sensibilities, though, I suppose I could try my hand at calling it 'intimacy' or 'joining' or whatever else is chic and proper."

As he spoke, Antony almost managed to keep a straight face, but if Loveless were to look up she'd see an expression of pronounced mischief in Antony's pale eyes. But then, THIS felt right, teasing her; this was what he did. But anyway, moving on. "I assure you, Lessy, you've got a long way to go to be a burden. Now, if you latched onto me like a glorified leech, attacked everyone else we came across, whined all the time, and only made pouty faces when I wanted to talk, then maybe I'd concede you to be a burden. But since you don't seem in danger of doing those things at once if at all, I think we're safe, don't you think? Just be natural, and everything'll work out." With that, Antony gave the mare an affectionate nuzzle, his confidence that things would work out almost visible in his face.

~~~
"If you say so, my friend." Chuckling, Guilian shook his head in an attempt to finally dismiss thought of Ariston using conversation to win over a mare; that was one of his own moves, after all, and to see it adopted by his friend was...well, peculiar. But flattering, even if it was unintentional.
Though even more flattering was the compliment to his youngest, which, even accompanied by concerns, couldn't help but make Guilian beam proudly. "She truly is a thing of beauty, isn't she Ariston? She certainly inherited a fair portion of her mother's charm and bearing, and uses them to her best advantage. I certainly appreciate your words of encouragement, as well as your concern, but rest easy on Amary's behalf, at least. She knows very well the effect she has on stallions, and as far as I am aware takes full advantage of it."
As he spoke of his youngest and closest child, Guilian couldn't help the fond smile that crossed his features. With Amary, he was the epitome of the doting father, indulging her whims and laughing at her antics. Yet even with this paternal indulgence, she remained unspoiled and charming as ever, her radiant smile and energetic giggle enough to brighten his day in an instant. "If anything, I would fear for the stallions who encounter her, my friend. I love Amary dearly, but I would be lying if I said she was likely to...appreciate the sincerity of sentiments that certain looks and actions can inspire, you know?" And therein lay Guilian's cheif concern for his daughter's well-being, that she would inadvertantly string someone along and be hurt by their hurt in turn. She was a gentle soul, after all!
But the fact that Ariston was worrying about Amary made Guilian happy. "I think that you would be well within your rights to worry about her as an Uncle, Ariston; after all, we two have been friends far longer than most, and closer friends than many siblings. It's only natural that we two should have an interest of sorts in each other's family." This, with an unintentional glance in the direction of the two young people, still apparently immersed in conversation. "Those two do look handsome together, don't they?"
PostPosted: Wed Oct 17, 2007 9:46 pm
"Well, I will have to get used to this casual kind of talk. At the moment it is not very natural for me, so you'll have to forgive me." With a quirky grin, she smiled at his nuzzle before moving herself a few steps away from him. There was something about his next comments that worried her, and she was deep in thought for a moment before turning herself back to him.
"You know, I have never done this sort of thing. I find that I am not naturally a very clingy person, but.. sometimes I don't trust myself, you know? I just hope you will be honest with me, and if I get out of hand in any way, you will let me know." With a light sigh, the mare shook her head, hoping to get some of her bangs out of her eyes. "But yes, I suppose the best thing is to just remain positive and to trust in my natural self." But still, she was so new to this kind of thing, that she really didn't want to mess up!
"Now, is there anything I should worry about towards youu?" Flashing him a curved expression, she figured it was best to throw some humor into her usual worried response. "Since we are both being so open.." Plus, Antony was a trickster himself! Humor was good, and it made things fun. She needed to enjoy the little humors he made towards her, and use her own back at him.
Ariston was glad to hear Guilian's words, and he listened quietly as his knowledgeable friend spoke. It sounded as if Amary would be JUST fine, so that was a relief. "It sounds like she knows what she's doing, and I would expect that kind of attitude from a daughter of yours." With a kind grin, Ariston bobbed his head, knowing the truth in that statement. There was a comfort in knowing that about Amary, and he felt more at ease suddenly.
But then, he was brought back into Guilian's response. "Ah yes, those two." Bringing his eyes back on Antony and Loveless, Ariston knew that Guilian's words were again correct. "Well, once I again I find myself not feeling surprised. Since we are both the most handsome of stallions, our children would by nature look handsome together. And, I find one thing sort of humorous." Rolling his eyes playfully to Guilian, he chuckled lightly at the thought of his comment. "Both our children have opposite colorings of us, and yet resemble us at the same time. It is amazing how that works." Ariston just couldn't have been prouder for that! "Children are great.. but seeing your children grow up is even better. I see bits of pieces of myself in Loveless.. maybe the fact that she inherited my blonde hair pars for that!" With a glee, he flicked at his long locks.
"And of course, I see a great resemblance of hair and face in both you and Antony." He just loved that, that two individuals could look so similar and yet be so different.
"Sounds like a plan." Grinning, Antony shuffled his wings slightly, combing the spikes through his mane before resettling them on his back. "We'll just figure things out as we go along."
After all, for all intents and purposes, they were only very new friends. That meant that they had wiggle room to figure things out. "How about this: if I piss you off or make you uncomfortable, you let me know in a non-violent fashion; if you upset or make me uncomfortable, I'll let YOU know in a non-violent way. That sounds fair, don't you think?"
Logically, it made sense. They seemed to have pretty good chemistry thus far, and if they could manage one conversation, they could manage several. They had a lot to talk about, didn't they? Both young adults, both lived interesting and different lives, both liked a good laugh...yeah, hours of conversation.
~~~

Glancing from the young couple to Ariston, Guilian returned his friend's grin with one of his own. How very different the two of them seemed at first glance, the big white kalona and the smaller, boldly colored wind. Yet one only had to see the proud, teasing smiles that occupied the faces of both to know that they were more alike than first met the eye. As in this.

"Aye, it's always amazing to see oneself carried on in one's children. You know, there is really something to be said for the idea of living on after death through one's children, no?" Not that he had any plans of dying in the immeadiate future, of course, but there were times when the philosophical made its way to the fore of Guilian's thoughts.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 18, 2007 1:39 pm

Loveless could only giggle at Antony's words, and she nodded in a agreement before speaking again. "Well, I suppose we could try this 'non-violent' way, so I will have to give it a shot. I am just such a monster, I think it will be hard for me.. can the beast be tamed?" And with another little laugh, she coiled her tail around and let it drift on the ground lazily. It seemed she had already tamed herself and her emotions, and that was at least a step in containing her sanity!

"I am glad we had this conversation, I feel so much better." she then admitted, before grinning at him kindly. "Life is so much easier when you talk things out anyways, my father wasn't always the best teacher for that sort of thing, but, at least I am learning now." Her father was always very odd like that, and it was probably based on the fact that he hated intense or serious conversation. "So, what now? Should we go join them again? Or ditch them.." A strange expression flashed on her eyes, and she felt mischievous for a moment.

Arison gonked slightly at Guilian's words. "Ugh, death! Do you know how many encounters I have had with death? Its hard enough having a Skinwalker that is somehow amused with me, and Kalonas who are constantly plotting out ways to kill me, and now Loveless. And I am sure you understand that sort of thing, with Izusa in the past.." After his rant, Ariston let out a long sigh.

"But I suppose that kind of reality is to be expected, you know?" Trailing his off to something in the distance, he felt a cool chill fill his body. "That's why we just have to enjoy everything now, but you and I don't have that problem, so that's all that matters!" And with that, his cockiness was brought back to life, and the goofy grin that had escaped Ariston's face had soon returned again.

"For my sake, I hope it can. I like excitement in my life, I'll admit, but wondering if the person I'm talking to is going to attempt to rip my throat out isn't high on the list of PREFERRED excitements." Managing a straight face, Antony's sparkling eyes nevertheless met Loveless' own, returning her mischievious sparkle. Regardless of what turmoil might have been in Loveless' mind, now that he was able to talk things out it was as though a huge weight had been lifted off of Tony's chest, leaving him free to simply enjoy.

Though from the sound of it, she was enjoying herself as well. Ditch their fathers, indeed!

Adopting a look of feigned appallment, he looked at the mare with new amusement. "What, you'd rather run away with me than go back and talk to your beloved father? I don't know if I should be honored by that or not." After all, the idea had merit; even though he wanted to talk to his own father, now that he'd found him once he knew that Guilian would hang around for at least a little while, expecting a conversation from his son. He consequently had freedom. "Or am I just a ploy to get you away from the overbearing presence of your own father?" This he strongly doubted; Ariston was many things, but overbearing wasn't really one of them. But why waste a perfect opportunity to tease?

~~

"I'm sure that it I asked, you would tell me, but why mull over things that are both past and unpleasant?" Grinning, Guilian turned to watch Ariston, the varied expressions of upset and worry dancing briefly across the white stallion's face providing amusement for Guilian. He himself tried not to worry about things, after all. Live in the present and enjoy the positives of the past, that was the way to do things!

So he returned Ariston's grin quite easily. "Indeed, my friend, one never knows when or where death might come. For all we know, we could choke to death on an apple this afternoon, but that doesn't mean I won't eat an apple if I find it. Enjoy life, and life will enjoy you in return and want to keep you around longer." If he did say so himself.
