Dark had been distracted trying to find a good touch down point when he heard a voice behind him. Land? He turned to glance behind him and nearly dropped out of the sky at what he saw. There was Maui, gliding along behind him but she looked awkward. Very awkward he wasn't sure how exactly she was staying up so well. He made a move to go back when she lost altitude quite suddenly. "Maui!" He leaned forward to began his decent realizing that she was trying to land without instruction. She looked as she was doing well for an amateur and all worries had vanished when all four feet were on the ground. He thought she'd been coming down to fast for things to go that smoothly and as she tumbled into the
He sighed and landed on the soft sands when she popped out of the water. "You shouldn't have tried that." He said with a smile crossing over to her. "Even though you did quite well...until you're little swim." He circled around her and stopped by her side so that his black feathers blocked out her hot pink ones. "You have something in your hair." He said softly bowing his head to take hold of one of the few pieces of seaweed that littered her mane. With a soft tug he freed it and let the water plant fall to the ground.

Watching the seaweed fall to the ground caused Maui to laugh. "Well, I'm a better swimmer than a flyer, so---" she jested. Smiling she glanced up at his crimson eyes. "Thank you" she remebered to add, for she was appreciative of him having plucked the sea plant from her hair. "So how about another test run and then we head for that night flight to...wherever you had in mind" she chirped. Maui was the type to try and try again, no matter what. She in fact would have probably used the expression, 'if you fall...hop right back on the horse and keep trying' if she wasn't one herself! "I'll be sure to wait on your instructions and example this time" she assured him, another sweet smile crossing her face.

Dark chuckled and shook his head. He took a few steps away then lay down in the sands. "You're not flying anywhere." He said nodding for her to do the same. "You'll find lift off is impossible with wet feathers." He said with a smile before tugging on the leather vest he wore. As stylish as it was it sometimes proved to be a bit of a hassle. Lying down was one of those times it made the leather tighten uncomfortably. Getting fed up with the clothing he rose to his knees and worked the vest off. Once free he tossed to the side and lay back down finding more relaxing with only the cords wrapped about his chest.
"So, how should we pass the time?"

She shook her wings off a tad more and turned her head to the side inquisitively. "Really?" she proclaimed, curious as to the science behind why wet wings could not fly, "Well, that's a bummer." She decided it was best to let them air dry and not rush things, as the stallion pretty much suggested. She settled herself down in a dainty little manner and nodded in thought. How to pass the time? She usually was a 'doer.' Someone who liked to be outgoing; trying new things. But in the wake of night that didn't seem all to appropriate.
Instead she wondered if some meaningful conversation wouldn't bore him to death. "I don't know...we could...talk about something? But if you find that beyond dull, then maybe you'd fancy finding an alterior amusement to flying in the night sky?" she began, still thinking as she spoke. "Anything you want to suggest?" she questioned.

Dark raised an eyebrow before standing and trotting over to her. He could think of quite a few things they could do but he wasn't about to suggest them. "Wind will dry them faster." He said with a smile catching on to the fact that lying around wasn't her style. "How about another race? I won't cheat this time so you won't end up swimming again." On the inside he was laughing at her for her little tumble but outside it was just the smile. He didn't want to hurt her feelings.
"From here until your wings dry?" He knew that really wasn't a race but a run was better then nothing and she didn't seem to be up for nothing. Come to think of it he didn't really feel like being bored either. Honestly he didn't find racing on ground too interesting everything was straight forward. No twists and limited courses but his goal was to dry her wings not to have fun. Once her wings were dry training could begin. It would be training, not lessons as he had thought. She could fly. Getting and staying in the sky was half the problem. All he had to teach her was when to beat your wings to stay up and how to land of course.

"Another race?" Maui echoed. She was willing to try flying again, but she worried another race may wear her out to the point of making another flying attempt more impossible than with wet wings. She thought for a moment, forgetting to hide her expression of uncertainty. "I don't know, I guess" she added. She had hoped another idea would have been suggested. Looking to the sea she fell silent again. Swimming in the sea at night wasn't too smart, so that was out of the question...
What to do, what to do... she pondered. Finally, an idea struck her. "Whats something you've always wanted to do, but never done before? My adoptive father always suggested to try something you've never done before at every chance you get. Makes life more meaningful" Maui smiled. She tried thinking of things she'd never done before herself, but nothing came to mind.

Dark followed her gaze out to the ocean as he listened to her speak. Something he'd never done before? He'd never thought about that before, there were plenty of things he'd never done before. He'd never flown with another before but that could and would wait, he'd never gone across the sea to see what's out there but that was a solo thing, he'd never been in love but it wasn't something her really wanted to try. Giving his head a toss he let the wind lift his short mane and blow it about. If it weren't for the ground beneath his feet he would have thought he was flying.
What was something that he wanted to do that he hadn't done that they'd be able to do? The question alone made his head spin but he figured he should answer anyway. He'd never gone swimming at night but that would put a bit of a damper on flying lessons, then there were things he hadn't stolen that might work but it didn't sound like she wanted to go running for her life from anything angry, actually most everything he wanted to do would involve tiring activities. "Well...the only things I can think of would pretty much stop our flight plans for the night." He said looking back to her. "That leaves two options. We wait for your wings to dry or spend the night partying and work in the morning."

Maui now had the 'what to do' question back in her hooves. She chuckled slightly. "We could leave it til morning I suppose, that is, of coarse if you don't mind being out all night" she replied. She sometimes would stay up all night by herself back home where she resided with her father-figure, birth mother, aunt, cousin & friend. She liked the night, but doubted she'd be able to go the whole time without sleep and properly endure flying lessons in the morn.
"Maybe we go searching for something? Ever looked for something, but had no idea what it was you were looking for?" she began. Maui most likely sounded completely crazy. "Why not wander until we've found something to our content, then we settle down for the night once we're there?" she suggested, hoping the stallion wouldn't find her unique proposal completely batty.

Laughter spilled from Dark's mouth. Him mind being out all night? He lived for the night life. After all, no questions were asked of you if no one was around to see what you were doing. "A midnight search for an unknown treasure?" He asked simply rephrasing her question to make some sense for himself. It sounded a little strange but it was something to do for the night and it had the potential to be interesting.
"All right then. Let's go find this something where ever it may be." He turned about and made his way through the soft sand back to his discarded vest. He didn't really want to put it back on but conversation would be all but impossible with the leather in his mouth. Giving in to the fact he pulled the vest over one leg then bent the other so he could get it on all the way without ripping it to pieces. With this task completed he turned back to Maui and winked. "Now, where do we start the search?"

Maui paused a moment, scanning the scenery. Large dark shadows of the mountains loomed in the not-too-far horizon. "The mountains?" she suggested; half questioning herself with the statement. She'd never been up to the mountains before. She'd heard from Oathkeeper that it was either a semi-trechurous trek up the cliffside's trail to the top, or winding your way through a semi-safer labyrinth of caverns to get there. Maybe they didn't need to even go all the way to the top, maybe just traveling there then exploring til they were too tired to go on was a better idea.
"What do you think? There's deep caverns in there, who knows what we could find in there? Maybe also good shelter for the night when we're bored with exploring?" she asked, smiling. She was more sure of the idea now, hoping he'd like it too.

The mountains? He followed her gaze out to the dark mounds to the north. Those great rocks were extremely dangerous but Maui was right there would be some interesting things to find there. She was all up for it and she didn't seem to mind the thought of a bit of danger or she wouldn't have tried to fly down. Well if she didn't care why should he worry? Besides his wings were strong and his kicks could be deadly if anything gave them trouble he'd take it down simple as that.
Tossing his head to the side he took off running to the slopes that they had been racing down not long ago. As soon as he was a foot from the beach he stopped and turned back to his white companion. "Deep caverns, danger, possible treasure and a beautiful mare by my side. I don't think this could be a better plan." He said with a wink waiting for her to catch up to him. It really didn't sound like this night could get any better. Well, it could but he wasn't sure how many girls would be awake still.

Blush came to Maui's cheeks momentarily, but her giddyness returned her to normal fairyly quickly. She high tailed it quickly after him with a chuckle. Maui wasn't a fool to go willingly wandering into dangers unknown, but somehow the little planned adventure didn't seem as such to her. She just loved adventuring, and to her this was a great adventure indeed. Maui'd never seen the mountains before, so it was extra exciting. She'd met a stallion who was from the mountain range, Marius, who'd explained how lovely and thrilling they were---and what snow was like.
She wondered if the mountains would have snow at the time they came to them. She'd wanted to see snow pretty badly...but would it be to cold to come across at night in the time of season? Many things filled her mind as she followed in close wake of Dark all the way to the mountain range. Seemingly both could travel fair distances without tiring. Stamina was always a good thing to have.

The journey passed quickly but in silence. It didn't bother him much after all he traveled alone mostly but it was still a bit odd. To have company and to be silent for such a long way was strange. He glanced back at her every now and then to check the she was following okay. She hadn't dropped pace, she was a lot stronger then she looked. He was impressed but not surprised, after all she relied on her legs when he relied on his wings. Were all horses bound to the land like that? As curious as he was he had no plan on testing the theory.
As his mind wandered a hollow echo sounded from beneath his hooves. He paused and looked down a bit startled. He hadn't noticed the ground shifting from grass into the hard rocks in fact he hadn't even realized they'd reached the mountains until he looked around. There were craggy rocks every where and the plants had changed. "You know...I was expecting a bigger difference..."He said taking another look around. A slight sloping wasn't exactly what he'd been thinking of when it came to a mountain. It didn't matter how many times he traveled around the mountains it was always surprising that they just blended into the ground like they did.

Maui glanced up once they reached the foothills leading up to what appeared to her as a large intimidating mountain range. Seeing as she'd never flown, such a landmark seemed bigger than life to her. She let out a low whistle, the kind one makes when quite impressed and not sure what quite to say about what they're witnessing.
"Oathkeeper told me the caverns are up the jaggedy trail then around a few tight bends until you reach just inbetween the hills and mountains" she instructed. Glancing over at Dark, she could see he wasn't all that impressed with the sight-seeing as she was. "They'll be something more interesting once we're there" she proclaimed, "At least, I'm pretty sure they're will be...but if not, heck, its safe shelter for the night." The cold wind coming off the mountains was quite cold to her---then again, it was a new experiance after all.

((I think I read the post wrong but this looked good so I kept it))
Dark glanced over at her with a raised brow. It was cold? He turned his face directly into the wind and opened his eyes. It stung with the cold of higher altitudes. "We need to get you flying." He said with a chuckle before moving on. Once he taught her to use her wings she'd get used to the cold like he did. This wind was nothing compared to what you felt flying high above the ground. He figured her wings were probably dry by now but they already had plans so why bring that up?
He leapt on to a high rock with the assistance of his wings and began searching for this 'jaggedy trail'. He had no idea what she meant by that and what kind of directions were those anyway? With those he wasn't even sure they'd find the trail head and who knew if they were even at the right part of the mountains. The giant rocks were huge it took him a full day to get from one end to the other. "Didn't you say we'd go hunting for something that we don't know what it is?" He asked turning to her a sly grin on his face. "Doesn't a pre-marked trail sound like we're looking for something specific?"
