Just thought I would post the whole paragraph.

"Now, even though the realms of religion and science in themselves are clearly marked off from each other, nevertheless there exist between the two strong reciprocal relationships and dependencies. Though religion may be that which determines the goal, it has, nevertheless, learned from science, in the broadest sense, what means will contribute to the attainment of the goals it has set up. But science can only be created by those who are thoroughly imbued with the aspiration toward truth and understanding. This source of feeling, however, springs from the sphere of religion. To this there also belongs the faith in the possibility that the regulations valid for the world of existence are rational, that is, comprehensible to reason. I cannot conceive of a genuine scientist without that profound faith. The situation may be expressed by an image: science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstein.

For anybody interested in reading the rest of what Albert Einstein has to say about Religion and Science go to http://www.sacred-texts.com/aor/einstein/einsci.htm .

i laugh at those that say that science is real since there are things science can't prove. Religion rules over science lol

The science vs. religion issue is really funny. First off...science can't prove something, because you are looking at it from the viewpoint of what we know about science. I believe that everything in the universe can be explained by science...we just don't know how. I believe it does in fact say somewhere in either the bible or book of mormon (I should really find where this is cause I refer to it all the time) that God must follow the laws of the universe, otherwise he would cease to exist.

I don't think there is a problem with trying to explain things with science...it is a quest for knowledge, which we know to be a good thing. You only run into problems when people start to try using science to disprove the existence of God.

in my Bio class yesterday we were talking about evolution... and me and my other LDS friend Katie are always bringing religion into our theories{{which we find that hilarious}} and a thought popped into my head about how i dont think Evolution is real...

think about it.. how long has humans been on earth? about over 3000 years right?? have we changed in the least bit?? no.

Okay, technically, we HAVE changed... people have gotten taller, etc. There is nothing doctrinally incorrect about evolution within the species. Elder Maxwell had some awesome thoughts on that.

I am not trying to make you feel bad, Katee, just saying DON'T use that "argument" on your teachers, kay? hee hee

But nevertheless this entire thing gave me completely new insight on everything concerning sceince and religion. Extreamly awesome, story my friend. As a scienctist would say "brilliant deduction" and as a prophet would say "thy faith has made thee whole". I know that who ever would give a talk like this, God would be smiling down upon them.

The whole evolution thing actually does basicly alighn with the scriptures, along with the Big Bang theory. I mean, that evolution could have happened within the 6 days of creation.

Okay, i agree with you Krego on the science can solve everything eventually. I think that would be true maybe just maybe if science and religion works together possibly. That may work or just end up really badly.

That had to be one of the coolest things I have ever read. It was a very interesting insight. It had to take a lot of courage to stand up to that professor! Does anyone know if it is based on a true story?

I know that this distinction has been made, but to make it succinctly

Science searches for how the universe works, Religion searches for why the universe works.

There is a relation as both are a search for truth. But they are to different questions.
