Asrafel looked up as he heard the girl's voice offering help, and gave her a weak smile. It was nice of her to offer, and he was quickly finding a lot of faith in the people of this town. However, the help she offered made his face contort in confusion. A shirt? What was he supposed to do with this, wrap it around Shauna?
Her request made him frown. Perhaps the people around here weren't so nice, after all! "No, I don't understand.. are you that uncomfortable with me?" His ribbons thickened defensively, as if insulted by her request and keeping Asra safe from her behind them. "I can't wear that."
He wasn't being stubborn, he was simply stating fact. He couldn't wear shirts - his wings were attached down his back, from his shoulderblades all the way down to the small of his back.
Shirts would always be out of the question.
He looked down at Shauna once the woman asked about her crying, only to realize that.. she wasn't anymore. Shauna was staring at Eight, with a curious and wide-eyed gaze. Asrafel blinked, looking from one to another, before it suddenly dawned on him.
You will know.
"Say, lady.. what's your name?" Asrafel asked, suddenly a little nervous about what he was about to do. Shauna reached out with both hands towards Eight, as if impatient to be given to her chosen guardian.

Eight blinked, shrugging and putting the shirt back in the bag. If he could wear a shirt, then Eight would just ignore it. "Mm? Oh, nah...it's not so bad since you look young and all...but you wouldn't want to get sick if it rains again." If it was a normal thing, so be it, but Eight doubted this boy''s family would be very happy if he came home with a cold or the flu. "Just thought the shirt might help a little, but from the looks of your wings I guess they're the reason you can't wear it.." Duh, Eight; how could you not notice that before?
She looked down at Shauna when the crying finally stopped, smiling and reaching forward to playfully poke at the child''s stomach. She was so cute. One wing on her head absently rose when she heard the question, shrugging and looking back up at Asra. He was a child...so Eight didn't really mind giving out her name when first introducing herself to him. "Penelope, but I'd much rather prefer being called Eight. Not Miss Eight..just Eight." Come to think of it, she didn't know their names either...her attention was drawn away from that, however, when she noticed Shauna reaching out to be held.
Eight''s heart melted.
"Awww! Aren't you just the sweetest!" She gushed, reaching out to take her. "Do you mind...?" It was only polite to ask! It wasn't her child, after all. When Asra gave the toddler to her to hold, the half demon immediately began to gush and coo to the child. She was so cute! How could you resist a face like that?! "You're so adorable!" She squealed, looking from Shauna back to Asra. "What're your names?"

It was a good thing that Eight had specified not to be called Miss Eight, because Asrafel would have done it out of habit otherwise. He heaved Shauna softly when Eight reached out to hold her, all too glad to be rid of the burden, as much as he had gotten attached to her. His arms ached terribly, and he was tired.
Shauna coo'd when she heard the woman's name, and climbed all too happily into her arms. Asrafel took this as more than enough of a sign that she had chosen her guardian. This was easier than he thought!
Okay, maybe not so easy.
He slipped a little rectangle of a paper under the elastic of Shauna's clothing without Eight noticing, and patted the little girl on the head softly.
"Oh, my name's Asrafel." He spoke up, suddenly remembering the question left to him. "And this is Shauna. I think she likes you."
Now how was he supposed to get the woman to take her..? A quick and shaky idea formed in his head. It was lame, and probably wouldn't work.. but he had left the address to the Benedict Center in the child's clothing just in case the woman had questions, so why not..?
"Mmm.. I'm hungry. I'm going to go get some ice cream!" Asrafel chimed softly, hopping up to his feet before the woman could offer to accompany him, and waving softly. He wasn't fond of lying, and hence subtly refused to say 'I'll be right back'. Instead, he said the only thing he could think of before hopping off to follow the ice cream truck that was trundling around the corner.
"Take care of her, will you?"
He giggled softly and gave a knowing grin, before dissappearing around the corner.
Sufficed to say, he would not return.

Shauna giggled and clung to the wingheaded lady with the happiest look on her face. This woman was nice! Eight giggled and bounced the child in her arms, smiling brightly when she was given happy squeals in response. Children were so adorable! "Asrafel and Shauna...those are lovely names!" She chirped, tickling under Shauna's chin and sitting down on the bench. This was turning out to be a very nice day despite the rain prior to this little meeting! The halfling sat Shauna down on her lap, still holding her carefully, and watching the pink-haired boy before her with a curious stare.
Wait...what? He was leaving? Eight blinked, reaching out with one hand to feebly grab his arm...but of course she missed by a mile. "Take care of her? But I--" Asra was already out of sight before she could finish her sentence, sighing and letting her hand drop beside her. Shauna looked back at the nice boy who'd run off and waved a very big goodbye to him, the girl's happy chattering bringing her new mother's attention back to the child on her lap, taking her tiny hands in her own and gently swinging them around.
Take care of her? But Eight already had so many children! ...It'd be horrible if Shauna was left alone...and she was pretty cute, how could she possibly say no to a face like that? And Asra seemed so dead set on leaving quickly to make sure Eight didn't have the chance to argue, so if someone went through the trouble to do something important you should help them! With a soft smile and a nod, as if to confirm to Shauna she was saying yes, Eight sighed and gathered the girl up in her arms again. "I still have a ton of room before I even need to consider children sharing rooms...and you're such a little darling! Come along, dear! Time to get all this stuff home and then you can meet your new family!" Shauna grinned and looked down at the bags that Eight was carefully picking up, clapping her hands a few times and resting her head against Eight's neck, just above her collarbone, while the woman headed for the nearest train station to get to Gambino. There was no way Eight was walking all the way back to that island with bags full of clothes and a young child.

This takes place after the party, of course, but if I don't post it now I never will! It'd been fun at the party, but all good things had to come to an end...sometimes. Eight was still trying to get Shauna to say more words, her happiness from the previous night still as fresh as if Shauna had said her first word not even five seconds ago.
"'Ove!" Shauna cheered, waving a big spoon in the air above her head while Eight looked through the kitchen cupboards looking for cookie ingredients. Obviously she was in a very good mood, and a good mood called for baking! Or at least that was how Eight worked. The woman smiled and ruffled her daughter's hair, closing the cupboard after she''d found the vanilla she was looking for and carefully placing it on the counter away from the young child sitting next to a big, yellow bowl she'd set out. "..'ove?" She poked at a bag of chocolate chips with the spoon, looking curiously up at her mother when the girl let out a tiny laugh.
"No, no. That's chocolate...I'd ask you to try and say it but you're probably too little to do that. How about we work on 'love' a little so you can say it with the 'l' all right?" Eight ducked down into the row of cupboards along the floor to find a bag of sugar and some flour, coming back up with neither of them and just leaning against the counter to watch Shauna. "Come on, sweetie! I know you can say love!"
"...'ove...?"
"So close! Now just say love." She made sure to emphasize the 'L' in love so Shauna would understand what she was missing, waiting expectantly while Shauna silently tasted the word. Love? But 'ove was easier! Oh well, if it'd make Mommy happy...
"L....l...wove?" Eight held back a frown, smiling softly and petting Shauna's cheek. At least they were getting somewhere, she'd heard Shauna make the sound for it, but in the end she'd said an entirely different word!
"Getting closer! Just try again, this time keep making that sound you were making before. Love." They say that three's the charm, so hopefully Shauna would get even closer on her third try. Eight wasn't expecting it to be perfect, but she was happy that Shauna was getting better at saying this one word with every try. Shauna pouted and poked at the bowl with the end of her wooden spoon, staring up at her mother with the faintest look of doubt. Was she really getting closer to this word? Or was Mommy just being nice so she wouldn't be sad? Nonetheless, Shauna wanted to make her proud, and she wanted to be able to talk just like Asra and Elle! They could say lots of words! And their voices were so nice! Just like Mommy's and the rest of her family! So she'd give it one more try to see if she could do it, she knew she could!
"L....l...llllo...lu...la...love!" Shauna squealed, giving her tail a flick and raising her spoon above her head triumphantly. Eight gasped and hugged the child, giving her little butterfly kisses all over her cheeks and forehead. She was so proud! Shauna was so adorable! "Love~!"
"That's exactly right! ...You know what...let's go out for a bit! We can make cookies together later, you deserve a treat for being such a big, smart girl!" Eight smiled, gathering Shauna up in her arms and moving her so she rested comfortable on her hip. There was a toy store nearby, and Shauna seemed to love stuffed animals, what better reward than a stuffed animal? Perhaps they'd even get a snack or something while they were out! Faye and the other children were all playing, Liam was out somewhere probably getting sewing materials and Pandora had insisted on taking it upon herself to go grocery shopping...so there really wasn't much to do. Suki was doing the usual thing she did at home: Sleep. Shanti was with the other children, and Void was napping with Suki...so none of them were available for entertainment either! Going out seemed like a very nice idea at the moment.
"Reynee?"
"Yeah?" Reynee looked up from her sketchpad to watch her mother, smiling and waving a few fingers at her youngest sister currently hanging onto their mother. It was nice having a toddler around, it gave her something adorable to draw...besides the usual things like Faye and Suki. When Eight had first come home with her everyone thought she and Alex had gone and had a child in less than nine months!
"I'm going out with Shauna to get some little treats for her since she's talking so well, you can keep everything under control until Pan or Liam come home, right?"
"Mhm, of course. I did it before, I can still do it now!" Reynee sang, flopping back on the couch to doodle a little sketch of Suki and Void curled up on the coffee table nearby. Eight grinned, rubbing her nose against Shauna's in an eskimo kiss and grabbing her wallet and keys before the pair headed out the door to walk into town and find a toy store or two. Shauna continued to babble nonsense to Eight, ocassionally actually saying a real word like 'love' or 'sister' which she seemed to be best at.
It took them an hour or so to reach a toy store, and almost instantly Shauna's chattering stopped as she stared, wide-eyed, at all the toys she was seeing. It was like...a buffet! Or something to that effect. Toy, after toy, after toy, each one a better toy than the last. There were dolls, action figures, balls, noodles and even--
"LOVE!" Shauna squealed, pointing down an aisle when she noticed an entire wall of nothing but stuffed animals. Dogs, dolphines, whales, sharks, birds, cats, even a few foxes and wolves. Only one toy caught her attention, however, and it was a big Tabby cat plush sitting in between a whale and a Blue Jay.

Eight laughed and walked over to grab the cat off the shelf, holding it up to Shauna so she could hug it tightly. How adorable, a little child hugging a plushie that was almost exactly the same size as the child itself. "Want anything else...?" Shauna blinked and stared up at her mother, shaking her head and burying her face into the back of the cat's head. It was soft! Eight ruffled Shauna's hair and left the stuffed animals to make her way around people to the small line at the register. Toddlers were so innocent, it was such a shame that one day she'd grow up to be a teenager...they were so difficult, and Eight should know! She was one!
"Love, love, love, love, love~" Shauna sang blissfully, playing with her new toy without a care in the world while they waited in line. By the time the two of them made it to the counter Shauna hadn't realized that her toy would have to be taken away so the woman behind the register could scan for the price, this made it rather difficult to get it out of her arms. "N-n-nooooo!" She cried, clinging tighter to her beloved cat and glaring up at the two older women trying to steal her precious. What meanies! And Mommy wasn't even on her side for this! Couldn't she just play with her toy in peace without people trying to steal her happiness? Apparently not, because Eight had finally eased the toy out of Shauna's protective hold after what seemed like hours of trying and handed it to the clerk. Did this mean Shauna couldn't have the toy after all? This brought little tears to her yellow eyes, whimpering and tugging at her mother's headwings. Why? Why couldn''t she have the toy? "No?" This was so unfair, Shauna deserved that toy! Mommy had said so! Her whimpering grew louder every moment the toy was out of her arms, her bottom lip quivering as she began to cry.
Eight's eyes widened, frowning and wiping the tears away from Shauna's face. "Shh! Don't cry, sweetie! You'll get it back! Mommy just needs to pay for it so we can take it home, alright?" Shauna didn't seem to believe her even after Eight took out her wallet to hand the cashier the money she owed, slipping her wallet into her back pocket afterwards and looking pleadingly at the cashier.
"Mommy's right, dear. See look! You can have it back now! I'll even take the tag off for you!" The cashier assured Shauna, taking a pair of siccors out of a drawer in the counter and snipping the tag hanging from the cat's ear safely off. Now the toy was perfectly fine to go back to its new owner! Shauna was still sniffling and whimpering even after she was handed her plushie, hugging it so tight the head would pop right off were this a cartoon and burying her face into Eight's chest. To think, her mean Mommy and that mean cashier lady had tried to take away her new stuffed animal!
"Shh, it's all right. See? You have it now, and you'll never get it taken away ever again!" Eight murmured, humming quietly as she rocked Shauna. The two walked in peaceful quiet, it wasn't silence because of Eight's humming and Shauna's sniffling, through Gambino to get back home before it was too late. They passed the street the Benedict Center was on, Eight made note to visit there again soon, and almost walked past an orange and white striped feather sitting on the sidewalk.

Shauna noticed it first, poking Eight's shoulder and pointing at the feather. It was pretty! Eight blinked and turned around to see the feather, glancing down at Shauna and then the feather again. "So you want that, eh?" Shauna nodded. "...All right, fine. Maybe I can braid it into your hair or something..." It was a bit difficult bending down so she could pick up the feather and not drop Shauna, but Eight managed, bending her knees and leaning awkwardly to one side to pluck the feather off the ground with two fingers, standing back up after pushing herself up with the same hand. It really was a lovely feather, it must have recently fallen! Eight stuck the feather carefully behind her ear and rest her head against Shauna's, speeding up her pace a bit now that it was beginning to grow even darker. Hm...Shauna looked a bit hot in that outfit, it was hardly fit for a place as hot as Gambino...she''d have to go shopping for new clothes for her sometime this week; Eight would feel so horrible if she allowed her daughter to be at risk of a heat stroke!

"So..."
"So...?"
"...What now...?"
"You could get this for her!" Faye squealed, startling both her mother and older sister by her sudden outburst. Both women turned around to stare at the little cherub who was holding up a movie case for Pocahontas. Eight wanted to stick with dressing Shauna up in Indian clothes but...she couldn't find a single place that still sold the traditional garments that could be worn in tropical weather, pants would be too warm on the little fox child's legs...
"I like the idea, but where would we get an outfit like that? Besides...it's not really something a child would wear..."
"Well, what about her best friend? That one girl...I can't remember her name anymore...wouldn't that be a suitable outfit? It's two piece, light, covers enough of her body but leaves enough so she's not hot...?"
"Yeah! I like her outfit too! It's cool!" Faye squealed, hopping up and fluttering her wings so she stayed in the air. Eight put a finger to her lips, regarding Faye with a stern look. If she kept yelling like that she'd wake Shauna up from her name, and children were so cranky when they were woken up! Selene did have a point...but where would they find that kind of outfit? A costume store, that's where! Eight wasn't about to force Shauna to wear a Halloween costume for a normal outfit! The halfling sighed and fell back onto a chair behind her, obviously a practiced move from other times she was making things more difficult than they needed to be, and leaned her head back to stare up at the high ceiling. Shauna seemed fine with what she was wearing now, but Eight thought it'd be nice if the child had more nice clothes to wear...
"Oh! Oh! I have an idea!"
"What is it, Pan?"
"We could take Reynee's artistic talent," The brunette dog turned to face her younger sister who was sitting on one of the sofa's with a sketchpad in hand. "And you could design some outfits for Shauna! Then we can go buy the material and Liam," She now turned to her twin brother. "Could sew them!" Pandora grinned, looking like she'd just ended world hunger. Both Reynee and Liam exchanged looks, sighing in unison as they looked up at Pandora and then Eight...their mother seemed to approve of the idea too, for her head had lifted and she had a sweet smile on her face.
"...I'll...go look up traditional female clothing..." Reynee yawned and stood, picking up her art supplies and shuffling upstairs to her room. "Google here I come!" The cat sang, followed by the sound of her door opening and closing as she reached her bedroom.
"And I'll go stock up on more thread..." Liam said with a sigh, having used up most of his thread already just mending some of the younger childrens' tears whenever they somehow managed to rip a piece of clothing or even, in Juno's case when she scared Shanti one morning, a torn up pillowcase. The boy stood up and grabbed his vest, not bothering to put on his normal shirt, and leaving the house to go to a craft's store to pick up some thread...and perhaps even some extra needles for the next time Samira felt like sewing.

((Keep getting dragged away. c.c WIP.)) Shauna sat and hummed on her mother's lap, kicking her legs and clapping the paws of her Tabby plush together. Normally she wouldn't be sitting so still, she'd be walking or crawling around with her kitty or playing with one of the family members, but today Mommy had told her to sit still for awhile! The feathers she'd once had in her hair were sitting beside the pair on a throw pillow along with the orange and white feather she and Mommy had found, all of her hair was free of any sort of tie. Eight was busy brushing Shauna's hair with a comb, getting all the tangles out so she could separate the dark hair into two sections to make some new braids for her. A small bit of hair was still left free so Eight could wrap that back up to the way it was before, for now all she wanted to do was give the girl two simple braids.
"You're going to look so pretty when I'm done!" Eight told Shauna, holding the handle of the comb in her teeth for a moment so she could use her nail to gently separate the toddler's hair into two equal sections. Shauna giggled and squirmed on her mother's lap. That tickles! Unfortunately Shauna's squirming had messed up Eight's perfect part, sighing and shaking her head. "Sweetie, please, please, please try not to move? No matter how much it tickles?" She pleaded desperately, trying once again to part her dark orange hair; this time she was able to get it perfect, taking one half of the hair and separating that into three more smaller sections. Her hair was so short, these braids would be absolutely adorable! The woman hummed as she worked, running the comb through Shauna's hair two more times before she finally began to twist the three pieces together to make the braid. A bag of clear hair elastics was sitting next to her to grab when she got to the end of the braid, and there were two thin strips of leather to wrap around the elastics as well.
"Ooooh! Momma! Do that with my hair next?" Juno squealed, climbing up onto the arm of the sofa closest to her mother and younger sister to watch Eight's quick hands neatly braid Shauna's hair. Eight looked up and smiled, grabbing an elastic and wrapping it around the end of Shauna's hair twice to it was extra secure.
"Sure, baby. Just as soon as I'm done with Shauna."
"When'll that be?"
"Soon."
"When's soon?" Eight's eye twitched a bit, turning to Juno with a slightly annoyed look in her eyes. Juno's white ears flattened against her hair, and the girl seemed to shrink to a size even smaller than she already was. "Soon is as soon as I'm done..." Juno muttered, obviously Eight had to say this to her on many occasions. After that Juno merely sat there on the couch kicking her legs and watching her mother, poking at Shauna's side every now and then to make her giggle. Shauna grinned and hugged her plushie even tighter to her chest, looking at her first braid in the corner of her eye. Whee! Pretty! Eight batted Juno's hands away from Shauna every time she caused her to laugh and squirm, nearly ruining the second braid in the process, finally getting the clear elastic for Shauna's hair.
"Oh! Oh! Are you done now?" Juno looked very hopeful, but that hope was shattered when Eight frowned and waved a strip of leather, signifying that no...she wasn't done just yet. Juno sighed and leaned against her mother, watching quietly as Eight took each braid one at a time and wrapped the leather around the elastic, not only did it look cute but it also hid the elastics better! After two minutes, it took longer than a few seconds since Eight had to put all the feathers back into Shauna's hair the way they were before and even added the new one in too, Shauna was finally sat on the floor in front of Eight with her Tabby. "...Now...?" Juno asked meekly, cheering when she was finally picked up and sat on Eight's lap. Finally! Now she could have a pretty head of braids too!
Shauna looked up at her mother and sister, hugging her plush against her chest and crawling away. Little did she know something was following her across the living room, into the foyer and to the bottom of the stairs...it was just so tempting, this shadow had to do something.
"Love~"
Shauna squeaked and looked around, finally spotting her mother's silly winged ferret she'd been told was not, in fact, a winged ferret at all...but a creature called a...what was it? Silt? Something like that. The child grinned and reached up to poke Suki's belly, receiving a giggle and a squeal as the Sylph draped herself across Shauna's tiny lap. Eight's kits were always so sweet to her!
"Love?"
Suki blinked and looked up to see what Shauna was talking about, peeking over the girl's shoulder to what she was pointing at. Oh! They were at the stairs? Did she want to go up them? Her answer was given when Shauna climbed up the first to steps, squealing loudly and fluttering up to stay by her side. If Eight's little girl fell and got hurt, Suki would be in trouble! And then Eight would be angry!
Be careful, little one! No doubt Eight will be very sad if you fall and hurt She paused to put her paws on Shauna's shoulders to keep her balanced again. yourself! But Shauna continued on nonetheless. Arm, leg, arm, leg, left, right, left, right, higher and higher until...she made it to the middle of the stairway in five minutes...Suki sighed and looked around, looking for some way to get this done and overwith faster so Shauna was out of danger! Apparently she wasn't paying much attention at the moment, for Shauna had continued climbing up the stairs and was already at the top by the time Suki actually turned back to the child to check up on her. The Light Sylph screeched in fright when she saw no child sitting in front of her, floating higher up in the air to see if Shauna was on either end of the stairway.
...Oh Shauna! You almost made my heart stop! It was a shame Shauna couldn't understand her, she would've shown more concern if she could, but she was too determined to get to Reynee's room to see why she'd been cooped up in there all day. Was she in trouble? Now...which door was she...all Shauna knew was that it was pretty! It had blue, white, and purple on it...oh there it was! The doorknob was too high for her to reach! So Shauna did the next best thing:
She sat and pounding her fist against the door like she'd seen Mommy do once, only she didn't make as much racket...
"...I bet you ten bucks that's Shauna..." Liam murmured, glancing behind him at the door where the noise was coming from. Reynee blinked and looked away from her computer screen and sketch pad, smiling brightly and nodding. "I'll go get her...wonder how she got up the stairs all on her own..."
"Beats me, maybe she can finally walk all on her own without needing something to balance herself on? At the rate she's going I wouldn't doubt it..." Liam opened the door and looked down, raising a brow at the sight before him. Suki looked like she was tired for some reason...she was never tired. The Light Sylph was sitting against the wall, panting heavily and clutching her chest where her heart was; Shauna had given her such a fright! Now she knew how her own mother felt whenever Suki snuck up on her! And there was Shauna, sitting there innocently with her big yellow eyes, hugging her new toy and just waiting to be picked up by her big brother.
"Problems, Suki?" Liam teased, gathering Shauna up in one arm and lifting Suki with the other. It was a good thing they were both so light. The boy checked up and down the hall before he closed the bedroom door with his foot, walking over to Reynee's bed to let Suki rest there. "Little scamp, you helped Shauna up the stairs, didn't you?" Suki yawned and nodded.
"Yes~" Oh look, a big blanket. Suki climbed to the head of the bed where the blanket was folded over and ready for Reynee whenever she wanted to go to sleep, slipping under it and crawling to the middle of the bed under the blanket. There, she could sleep perfectly fine right here.
"Remind me she's under there so I don't hurt her when I go to bed." Reynee told Liam, looking up from a website she was checking out and tickling under Shauna's chin. "Hey there, silly girl. You wanna see what we're looking at?" Shauna blinked and looked up at Liam, then down at Reynee, then to the black computer monitor in front of her. What was on that thing? It looked like the tv in the living room that she watched those funny people and animals on! Only this had a lot of pictures...and it didn't make noises and move...what were they trying to show her? Shauna never noticed that she'd been moved from Liam's arms to Reynee's lap, thinking far too deeply on this matter to notice anything, until one of them spoke again.
"I can make that..." Liam pointed to a brown and red thing on the screen that appeared to have blue feathers all over it.

"...That looks nice. It'd look good on her too with the red and brown, Mom might even be pleased there's a little blue in it..." Shauna blinked and watched the exchange between her siblings. How confusing...who was this for? Were they making a dress for Mommy? Shauna murmured some random thing and bounced a little on Reynee's lap, putting her plushie on the keyboard in a position that made it look like the kitty was typing. Reynee and Liam both laughed, scratching lightly behind one of Shauna's ears as Reynee used her other hand to print the pictures of the dress out. She wouldn't have to draw it now right? There was already a perfectly fine picture...

RP Recap - A Visit to Ioyla's
Eight and Shauna "Co'in 'Awa?" Shauna blinked and stared up at her mother, one ear perked up and the other sitting as it normally did. Eight smiled and nodded, bouncing the child once in her arms to hold her daughter more comfortably. Today the two of them had left Gambino to visit Ioyla and Ilistala in Aekea, Shauna's immediate reaction to the place was a disgusted expression. The air here tasted bad! People actually lived here? How was that possible? But here, in the bad tasting air place...Shauna was going to meet something called a 'cousin' and an 'aunt.' What were these? They sounded odd, and Shauna had absolutely no idea what an aunt or a cousin was. Was it good? Did it taste good or as bad as the air? Could you hug it? So many questions and Shauna couldn't ask any of them yet! Would she like this 'Ilistala' or this 'Ioyla?' They also sounded like weird words. Ooh, if only Shauna could ask Mommy what these words meant! But it was so much fun being taught the words that she didn't want to just go and say them out loud yet, where was the fun in doing something the easy way? She could copy anything Mommy said! "This is it!" Eight chirped, disturbing Shauna's silent thought process when they finally reached a rundown building. It was nothing like their house! They were going inside? Where was the cousin Ilistala and the aunt Ioyla? After walking up some stairs and navigating through the hallways, Eight and Shauna finally stopped in front of one door. "You want to knock, sweetie?" She whispered, grinning. Shauna's eyes widened at this opportunity she was being given, squirming in her mother's grasp enough to turn and pound on the door with both fists. Hope she stopped in time to not punch the person that answered in the face!
Ioyla and Ilistala Shauna's bothersome poundings fell on deaf ears, as Ioyla was currently taking a shower. She emptied nearly half a bottle of shampoo into her cupped palm, dumped it into her hair, and lathered it up, careful not to bump against her horns. "A HEAAAART FULLLLL OF LOOOOOOOVE~~~!" The demon sang completely off-key, but by GOD was she going to win a Grammy some day! But not really. Ioyla rinsed her hair out and was, basically, done with her shower, but why not waste some time in the nice, hot water? She deserved it, anyways, so bite me. But silly little Stala heard the door! She looked up from her coloring book on the living room floor, drooling a little. Her chubby face was smeared with pinks, greens, reds, blues, all kinds of colors one usually finds in a seventy-two pack of Crayola crayons. They were tasty! Ilistala went back to her coloring book, scribbling over a kitty-cat's head with a black crayon. So pretty! After a short while, Ilistala's attention span began to wander, and the loud banging from the door was really starting to irritate her. Sssh! Sssssh! Mommy didn't like loud things, 'specially when the big man with shiney gray hair was around. They made funny noises whenever they went into Mommy's room. Lots of yelling with the bed making creaky noises. Heehee. Stala scooted over to the front door on her butt, her hands dragging across the floor and, ultimately, dragging the black crayon along, too, which left a big black streak on the floor. Ooo! Awkwardly, the little baby pulled herself to her feet using the door handle. She turned the big knob in every direction, and finally...finally...finally, she got it open! And promptly received several baby punches on the head. Ouch!
Eight and Shauna Knock, knock, knock...punch? What was this soft thing she was hitting now? Shauna gasped loudly and clung to her mother's shoulders, frowning apologetically at Ilistala. She hadn't meant to hit her! "Oh my, are you alright 'Stala?" Eight murmured, picking up the child before she noticed how...colorful she was...and the black streak on the floor...where was Ioyla? She heard the shower and sighed, letting herself in and carrying both little girls to the couch. "Crayons aren't for eating, dear~" Eight sang, closing the door before she headed into the kitchen to find the biggest cup, bowl or even bucket she could find. She found one. The woman hummed quietly to herself as she stood in front of the sink, putting a plastic cleaning bucket under the faucet so she could fill it with ice cold water. When that was done, she continued to walk out of the kitchen and into the bathroom to pour the bucket over the top of the shower onto Ioyla's head. Meanwhile, back on the couch! So this was Ilistala? Her...cousin? She'd met this girl at that party! Shauna grinned and glomped the other girl, looking down at the floor. They were so high up! ...Only not really! After awhile Shauna let go of Ilistala to check her head where she'd punched her, feeling just a bit guilty...even though she was poking at the spot to see if there was a bump. Yeah, that won't hurt a bit!
Ioyla and Ilistala Poor, poor Ioyla was still singing loudly. She didn't hear the quite creaky bathroom door open and close; she didn't see Eight creep up behind her with a big bucket; but she certainly ******** FELT the freezing water splash onto her warm skin. A loud shriek ripped through the air. "BIIIITCH!"And meanwhile indeed, on the couch! Stala blinked, rocking backwards when Shauna glomped her. Oh! She drooled a little more as the other baby poked and prodded at her head. Owie! Stoppit! Stala's chubby fingers batted away Shauna's own. Instead, Ilistala grabbed a handful of Shauna's fluffy fox tail, giggling and screaming. Wheeee! Her leathery wings flapped in the air each time their owner shrieked in joy.
Eight and Shauna Eight burst out laughing when the shriek she was waiting for came, putting the now empty bucket down on the floor and turning to leave...only...instead of going forward she somehow found herself falling backwards...into the shower. It was her turn to shriek. "Ioylaaaaa! My clooothes!" Eight whined, glaring at her friend and stepping away from where the water was spraying. Ick, her clothes were all wet nooooow. "Me?!" Eight pouted and grabbed a bottle of conditioner, opening it and pouring half it it on Ioyla's head. Hmph! ...She looked pretty funny now... Ow! That huuuurt! Shauna squealed and tugged her tail back, regarding Ilistala with a very upset face. That was her tail! She whimpered and hugged her tail to her chest, curling up on her side and glaring at her 'cousin.' How could she do that?! Didn't this girl know that pulling someone's tail hurt?!
Ioyla and Ilistala Ioyla's triumphant laughter at the sight of a soggy, pissed off Eight was caught short when half a bottle of conditioner was poured all over her head. She shook her head back and forth, like a dog does when it's wet, only to send conditioner and water shooting through the air, landing on the walls, the door, and even Eight. "Don'tchoo know, foo! You don't mess with zee EYEOHLAAAAH!"And then the demon began licking her friend. Good times, good times... Ilistala's bottom lip began to tremble when her faux cousin glared at her. Ohhh, she didn't want to be meanylooked at! She was only curious! Stala leaned over to pat Shauna on the head, gurgling and smiling reassuringly. It's okay~! I forgive you for being sensitive about your tail! Hee! ^___^
Eight and Shauna Eight was about to say something else when suddenly...there was some horrible taste in her mouth. It took about two whole seconds to realize it was conditioner. "Oh God, that's digusting!" Eight spit as much of it out as she could and leaned over to stick her mouth under the shower head to wash out the conditioner. The girl blinked, choking on some of the water when Ioyla started licking her, finally standing back up with a laugh and pushing at Ioyla. "Ioylaaaaa! You're so gross!" She laughed, trying to block the other girl from licking her. --- Shauna blinked, giggling happily when she received a pat on the head. Mommy always did that when she was a good girl! Shauna squealed with delight and threw her arms around 'Stala in a tight hug, deciding it was time to introduce her to Tabby after she'd let go. The little fox girl reached behind her to take her plush off her back where Eight had suggested attatching it to her clothes so Shauna could hang onto her without losing the cat, holding Tabby out in front of her with the biggest grin. "Love!"Now the question was, did Ilistala have a Tabby too?
Ioyla and Ilistala Ioyla continued to lick her friend all over, laughing like the maniac that she was. Nobody messes with the Ioyla! "Ihs guud fuhr yoo!" she cried, in which that mess of words would translate into "it's good for you!" Ioyla didn't ride the short bus, she drove it. I'm so clever. The naked little demon suddennly stopped licking her friend, instead opting to start sissy slapping her. Slap slap slap! "I keel yoo for disturbing my alone time!" Ioyla growled, her accent rich and completly fake, not at all the throaty Italian one she was going for. More sissy slapping followed. Ilistala's huge orange eyes disappeared for a split second behind a pair of eyelids. Love? What? Confusion! She batted her chubby hands at the little cat plush in front of her. So cute! Stala wanted one! "AbabaaaaOOOOOO!" the little baby screamed, laughing and beating the couch cushins into submission. Stala reached out to gently snatch the little Tabby thing from her cousin. And when that was over and done with, the cat's head disappeared into Stala's toothless, wet mouth. She chewed on the soft thing for a while, drooling even more and just looking so damn adorable.
Eight Shauna Ioyla was the short bus... But Eight loved her friend anyway...as crazy as she was. The halfling blinked when she was suddenly slapped, rolling her eyes and smacking Ioyla's hands away. "At least Page wasn't in here when I did that~!" Eight sang, sticking her tongue out at her friend and literally throwing herself out of the shower and out of harms way. What? It was best to be safe just incase! --- Shauna was smiling again, smiling and laughing and making Tabby dance. Mommy took her on a trip, she got her hair done by Mommy, she was going to have a new dress soon, she had Tabby and now she was playing with her new cousin! Life was good... Until Tabby was ripped right out of her hands with no warning whatsoever. Shauna's yellow eyes widened as she stared at her hands that had previously been full with the cat plush, just staring for what seemed like days until she looked up at Stala to see her kitty in Stala's drooling mouth. This elicited what started out as a tiny, pathetic whimper, her bottom lip beginning to quiver and her eyes watering. "M...m...m...miiiine!" Shauna whimpered, a few little tears sliding down her cheeks.
Ioyla and Ilistala Ioyla squealed loudly, like a drunk schoolgirl, when Eight jumped out of the shower. The force of her leaving caused Ioyla to fall back, catching herself on the shower head, and bonking her head on the wall. D'oh. "Ow!" she cried, pulling herself up and massaging her sore spot, "owowowowww!"Ioyla crawled out of the bathtub, grabbed a towel off a rack on the wall, and wrapped it around her body. She turned off the water. "You are an evil, evil little thingy, you know that?" The demon shook her head, as if she were a wet dog, and sent water everywhere. Revenge! ...even though...Eight was still...wet, but okay... --- Tabby's head was entirely covered in drool, but Stala didn't seem to mind; if anything, she didn't notice. The little baby was busy watching the sobbing Shauna. What the heck was her problem? Ilistala slowly made the connection: This was Shauna's kitty cat, and Shauna was sad...maybe she should give Tabby back to Shauna? ... Naaah! Stala moved from Tabby's head, to the foot, speaking in the mysterious language known as baby talk. "Buhbuhbuhhhhh! Kahhhhh!" Stala would periodically pull Tabby from her mouth and dance it in front of Shauna, as if teasing her, when in reality, Ilistala was simply inviting her cousin to come play with her.
Eight and Shauna Eight also grabbed a towel to dry herself off with, looking around the bathroom with a sigh. "Do you have any robes? I'd rather not walk around the children in just a towel..." Her clothes needed to dry, and so did she! The halfling rose a brow and pretended to be as innocent as possible, after all, if Eight was innocent she wasn't evil! ...Ha, yeah right. "Why, Ioyla, what ever do you mean?" She closed her eyes when the demon shook her head around, covering her face with the towel and shaking water from her own head. They had the same hairstyle, so they'd both obviously give off the same amount of water. Shauna's crying only grew louder when the Tabby was turned from her head to her leg, finally catching the attention of her mother now that Eight was out of the shower that'd been drowning out the sounds from the other room. The halfling blinked and turned to the bathroom door, listening quietly so she could tell if it was really unhappy crying she heard... And unfortunately it was. Eight frowned and glanced back at Ioyla, opening the door to walk into the living room to check on the two children. "...Oh dear..." She sighed and knelt down in front of 'Stala and Shauna, wiping her daughter's face and petting her hair. "Shh, don't worry. You'll get Tabby back...er...'Stala, give that to me. I'll get you your own another time, but Shauna's very protective over Tabby..." Did Ilistala even understand a thing Eight said?
Ioyla and Ilistala Ioyla dried off a little more, then slipped into her bedroom to put on clothes. She pulled a white shirt far too large for her, an old faded jacket, and a sexy little brown skirt, complete with monochrome toe socks, big a**-kicking boots, and sunglasses. The awesomely clothed Ioyla grabbed her wet towel off the bedroom floor and wound it into a long line of cloth. Hehehehehehe. Quietly, like a cat ninja stealthy ninja...thing, the demon girl peeked her head around the bedroom door and tip-toed out, the rat-tail'd towel swinging from her clenched hands. "FOR THE COUNTRY OF SCOHTLAHND!" she shrieked, about to whip Eight on the a**, but a wailing Shauna and about-to-cry Stala caught her attention. Oh, crap! Ioyla dropped the towel and crouched down next to Eight, in front of her own child. She tentively reached out an awkward hand to the baby's hair, smoothing it. Ilistala's huge orange eyes were quickly filling with tears. Why were so many people talking to her? What was the scary lady with the scary wings on her head talking about? Too many things were happening at once, and they confused and upset the poor little Stala, who burst into sudden tears. The baby threw Tabby back at Shauna, crying even louder now. She hardly noticed Ioyla fumbling around with her hair.
Eight and Shauna Eight frowned, picking up her daughter and bouncing her a bit. "Hush, hush. It'll be okay! You'll get Tabby later, don't worry!" Eight coo'd, rocking Shauna and nuzzling her face into the girl's hair. She blinked when something soft hit her leg, looking down to find Tabby sitting at her feet and bending down to pick it up and give it to Shauna. The fox child didn't stop crying, but the sight of Tabby at least quieted her down a bit. Shauna was clinging tightly to Tabby, burying her face into her mother's chest and whimpering. Eight turned around so she was facing Ioyla and Ilistala again, bouncing Shauna a few more times in a failing attempt to make her laugh, she was still crying too hard to even hiccup a giggle. "...Let's go shopping...then they can play together without making each other cry by taking each other's toys..."
Ioyla and Ilistala Ioyla awkwardly continued to smooth Stala's hectic hair. Her ears perked at the suggestion of going out and getting toys. Yay, toys! "Yeah, good idea. 'Kay. I like that. Good thinkin. Shoppin solves everything, doesn't it?" The young demon pulled Ilistala up into her arms, placing the baby's chin on her shoulder and whispering sweet, soothing things into her ear. Ioyla bounced her around several times, all the while inching towards the door to leave. Meanwhile, the tears had stopped falling, but Stala sniffled from time to time. She raised her arms when Ioyla moved to pick her up, whining, her hands clenching and unclenching, as if she was trying to snatch something only she could see. She was lifted into the air, then her head was on mommy's shoulder and mommy was saying very comfortable and nice things. The comfortable and nice things made her very sleepy...
Eight Eight took a step towards the door and stopped, raising a brow and glancing back at her friend. "...Are you serious or are you mocking me? If you're seriously I'll hurt you." In the most loving way possible, of course. Eight grinned and watched Ioyla and Ilistala quietly, bouncing Shauna a few more times to win a few laughs or giggles out of the child. "Y'know, despite how much you claim to hate kids, you're a pretty good mother." Eight murmured, walking to the door again and walking out, pausing to wait in the hall for Ioyla. "Aw, she looks so tired now."
Ioyla Ioyla nuzzled her face into Stala's cheek with affection thicker than mud. Maybe Eight was right. Maybe she was a good mother. Maybe she could be more than an Infriti. This was her only chance to do something with her life. Ioyla boosted the sleeping Ilistala up to a more comfortable position. "I was totally serious, Eight dahling," she teased her friend, giggling and shuffling out of the shitty apartment right after Eight. But before fumbling the door closed with an awkward hand, Ioyla took the time to stop and stare at her home: It was time to move. It was time to get out. The apartment was already an inch from falling in on itself...time to suck it up and move away. The demon shut the door, locking it this time, before hooking arms with her best friend, sniggering, and skipping off to the mall. "Stala looks so sleepy because she's tired of looking at your face. ZING!"
Eight Eight stopped and waited while Ioyla stared at her apartment, bouncing Shauna a bit. "You better have been, would've killed you if you were mocking me..." She grinned and walked instead of skipped, not wanting to upset Shauna with too much bouncing. "I noticed you were staring at your apartment...thinking it's time to move...?" The blinked and stared at Ioyla at her...lame insult, rolling her eyes and smacking the demon upside the head. Hmph! b***h! "It couldn't possibly be the tranquilizers you probably sneak into her food!"
Ioyla and Ilistala Ioyla blew random orange locks from the snoozing Ilistala's face while Eight babbled to Ioyla's deaf ears. She wasn't ignoring her! She was just...she...yeah, she was ignoring her. But a sharp slap to the back of the head and all of Ioyla's attention was brought to her friend, not her sleeping child. "JEEZE! That HURTS! Did you every think about trying for a slapping contest? Or a pimp? You'd make an awesome pimp." The demon hiked Ilistala up further, but the little baby had already awoken. She whined and rubbed at her sleepy eyes. "...this is your fault," she muttered, throwing a nasty glare at Eight. Ioyla ssh'd Stala, rocking gently, but it was useless; the little Shattered baby was fully awake and grumpy. Heaving a heavy sigh, Ioyla turned to Eight with a sheepish, pathetic smile. "I can't go out today, I guess Stala is really sleepy. Maybe later?" But she didn't wait for a reply, as Stala's cries were getting louder, demanding attention, food, and a nice comfy bed to go back to sleep. Ioyla blew Eight a small kiss and disappeared behind her front door, looking a little irritated as well. She wanted to out, goddammit. Being a mother really sucked a** sometimes.

Holding a cloth wrapped bundle tied with a satin ribbon under one arm, Elle gazed up at the vines creeping up the columns and walls. It was a lovely sight, too often she saw manicured houses with fake and lifeless lawns. Already feeling at home, Elle brushed a few leaves aside and pushed the doorbell for a single long moment.
Taking a step back, she hitched the package on her hip a bit higher and smiled as she waited. Her hair was up in a bun today, to keep it out of the way of little hands. Of course, Shauna might not be so little any more...it had been a long time since she'd seen her!!
"It's Elle!" Calling out softly as she heard footsteps from within, she did her best to announce herself through the thick door.

((THIS IS POST 666 IN THE WHOLE GUILD! XD!))
Eight and Shauna was busy in the living room, so instead of them answering the door when they heard the bell, Liam answered it instead with Verin at his tail. Men had to stick together! Or that was Verin's choice of strategy at the moment, since the woman who cuddled with him was busy. Damnit. The dog had to take a doubletake when he opened the door, trying very hard not to stare at...certain...things when he first saw Elle. "Uh...hi! Um...Mom and Shauna are in the living room...come in Elle." Translation: Eight and Shauna are in the living room, but screw them and have my children. Once the girl was inside Liam made sure to close the door behind her, leading her to the room in question where Eight was holding Shauna's hands up above her head.
Shauna was on her feet for once, being held up by her mother in order to help get her walking; the two had been at it almost all day, and at this pount little Shauna was able to take two or three quick steps before she fell forward on her hands and knees. Cosette was jumping around the pair in circles, occasionally fluttering her wings enough to jump up and hover a few inches off the ground and land again. Eight blinked and looked up when she heard footsteps, smiling brightly when she spotted Elle with Liam. "Hello, Elle!" She chirped happily in greeting. Shauna tilted her head back and missed a step, letting herself hang for a moment before standing back up again.
"Elllllllllllllllle!"

Holding the cloth wrapped bundle in one arm, Elle smiled and stepped inside...slipping out of her shoes and leaving them by the door. She wouldn't wear shoes if left to her own devices, but Aki had pointed out that the bottom of her feet would track in just as much dust if she didn't. For the sake of other people's rugs, she made an exception.
Nudging the sandals to the side, Elle fell into step behind the pair. "Thank you for showing me in! I didn't catch your name." Giving the lad a smile, she tilted her head. "Are you a roommate of Eight's?"
Just as she asked, there was Eight and Shauna before her. Offering the inside of her wrist for Cosette to sniff with a smile, Elle lifted her eyes to the girls. "Oooh, hello! Learning to walk, are we?! Redtail, you're doing so well!!" Setting the bundle aside, she gave Cosette a quick ear scritch if allowed and opened her arms for Shauna. "Let's see you come this far, hmm? Don't give up!"

Liam blinked and glanced back at Elle, keeping his eyes at the safe level of her face. "It's Liam, and...I guess. Sort of...I am older than Eight, even though she's my guardian. She adopts...a lot of children, and my twin sister Pandora convinced her to take us in since she cooks and...I sew." He shrugged, grinning and leaning over the back of the closest sofa to watch his mother and younger sister. The dog shoo'd Verin away when the Feli jumped on the couch and began sniffing curiously at the bundle Elle had been carrying. "It's not yours, Verin, you might ruin it...you've got mud all over the couch now, how did you do that?" He murmured quietly, picking the Feli up and carrying him away to a bathroom.
Shauna squealed happily, falling on her bottom again as one of her many favorite people came up to her. Cosette's tail lashed around behind her, not from anger, but it always looked like a whip regardless of her mood. "She's getting better with her words too, got her to say things with an 'L' as you can see." Eight grinned, sitting down on the floor next to Shauna and petting her daughter's hair. It was in two braids again and hanging over her shoulders, just the way Eight had been doing it lately. Shauna stared at Elle, then her mother, then Cosette, then back at Elle...they wanted her to go over there? She made a move to get on her hands and knees and crawl over, but was held by the hips and pulled back by Eight. "No, sweetie. Do what I taught you." Shauna pouted...but then...they were all counting on her! What if she never learned to walk around like her family and friends? She'd be stuck crawling for the rest of her life? Mommy and Elle were counting on her!
That was it! She had to stand up and walk! Shauna clumsily pushed herself up to her feet, holding her hands out on either side of her to keep her balance. She took three quick steps and fell back into a crawling position again, only about halfway to Elle at the time. It was too hard!
"Aw, sweetie! It's okay! You got farther than before that time! You can do it!"

Elle lifted her hand once again as Liam excused himself...committing the names she'd learned to memory. He seemed like a nice guy, and was simply adorable!
Sharing a grin with Eight as Shauna toddled a few steps closer, Elle pushed herself straight and waited to catch the babe's eyes. "You know, I just noticed something! You always seem to fall forward, sister! Try this." Pushing her tummy out a bit, Elle walked with a bit of a swagger...keeping her shoulders rolled back. It looked ridiculous, but she wasn't trying to be normal....she was trying to show Shauna how to shift her weight to be even!!
Nudging the present out of the way, she turned and opened her arms again. "Try that, and see if you can't get a few more steps!!" She smiled again at Eight, hoping the young woman didn't mind if she joined the encouragement and lessons.

Eight was beaming, leaning back on her hands as Elle spoke. She couldn't help but laugh at the display, covering her mouth politely in fear that it'd offend Elle...but Elle seemed like she'd understand why it looked funny, right? She'd understand. "My mother never did that for me, too much pride." She had several little minions to help her teach Eight to walk. Shauna watched quietly with an open mouth, reaching out for Tabby when she caught sight of the plushie in her mother's hands. "Here, try this. A little motivation." Eight explained, tossing Tabby to Elle and waiting to see how Shauna would do this time.
Shauna pushed herself up again and tried her best to copy Elle, taking a wobbly step forward, then another, and another until she plopped down on her rear again in front of Elle, making grabby hands for Tabby. "Buh?" Her ears perked up, giving a startled jump when she heard a cheer and felt Eight's arms suddenly wrap around her. The half demon pressed a kiss to Shauna's marked cheek and pet her hair again, nuzzling her face against the child's as she looked up at Elle.
"Thanks for the help, Elle! She always gets stuff faster when you're around, it seems! Want to do that again, Shauna?" Eight purred, sitting up again to see Shauna's answer. The little fox blinked and looked up at Eight; all that for a few steps? Wow! Imagine if she walked again! She nodded and crawled over to the other side of the room a few feet away, glancing back at Elle and Eight to see how far she was before she stood again. She'd walk even farther this time!

Offering the tabby plushie gracefully as Shauna plopped down, Elle clapped an genuine appreciation. "You did great!" Waiting until Shauna had scooted away again, Elle settled down cross legged and pulled the present bundle into her lap.
"I'll tell you what. Give it one more shot, and you can unwrap this!!" Patting the gift, she shared another look with Eight. It would be a surprise to both of them...she only hoped Eight wouldn't object!
Holding her arms open once more, making a goal for Shauna to aim for, Elle waited for the babe to toddle closer. She chatted quietly with Eight as the girl pulled herself into position. It was obvious she hadn't taken any offense to the giggling...she'd been laughing herself! "Her hair looks so cute like that! I'll have to talk you into doing mine!"
She rarely did anything with her hair...it was either in single knot of a bun or swinging free. The braids were so cute!
