Personally, I think they have gone downhill a bit. I like their first two albums the best, third is awesome, Love Metal is better than the third, and the last two have been...just not as good. But nothing will ever compare to their first two albums for me.

Personally I'm not a big fan of Dark Light, I like older stuff better, i felt is was a little drop down. but Venus Doom had some good songs. My favorite is Love Metal though. I think every artist has up & down times.

well, my first HIM song was actually Wings of a Butterfly so I kind of fell in love with the new stuff then learned about the older stuff. I honestly love most of everything HIM does. The only things that i really don't care for is the WAYYY early stuff; demo's and stuff, but that's probably because it wasn't recorded very well. so all-in-all, i guess i like everything HIM's done ^_^

Dark Light was a bit of a let down, but I think they're building back up with Venus Doom.
I personally think the alcoholism helped out their music a bit...but hey who cares what I think.

I didn't like Dark Light at first, like a lot of people. But after sitting around one day with my iPod on shuffle, I caught "Face of God" and I really liked it. I looked down, thinking it was probably my Coldplay stuff, but then I saw it was H.I.M., and I sort of enjoyed it. Bands do go through changes. I don't always listen to the same exact music. So why have them playing the same music? It's kind of a Metallica-complex, if you will. People seemed to think they grew soft after awhile. But it's a lot of different factors that lead to things like that. Ville's extreme alcoholism contributes. And the fact that he isn't the same physically or emotionally as the man who wrote Love Metal or Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666. You really have to take a lot into consideration when you've been listening to a band as long lived as H.I.M.

I only really enjoyed a few songs from Venus Doom, "Bleed Well", "Love in Cold Blood", and "Venus Doom". Dark Light actually was my favorite album. I enjoyed all the albums and like most of their songs, just some more than others.

ZOMG I disapprove!!! Greatest Lovesongs 666 was clearly their best album as it contained some of their most original ideas.
After this they went mainstream which they have admitted themselves, clearly because of the rehab!!! *shakes fist*
They redeemed themselves with Love Metal, which was incredible!!! PLease everyone tell me that you loved songs like Buried Alive by Love and beyond redemption
By the way, does anyone have the mp3 of Salt in our wounds that they can send me, I seem to have lost it *growls at self*

Would love you forever!!!!!

Ville said Dark Light and Venus Doom would be different. You can't expect newer albums they put out to be the same as before Love Metal or even Love Metal itself. If H.I.M. were to make their music sound all the same, you would eventually get tired of it. =/

Well I think that Dark Light was a big depart from the classic HIM we know. It definately is my least favourite album, but I like it for what it is. It's a different breed of HIM...the American audience breakthrough kind. Venus Doom on the other hand, i LOVE. It has a very back to basics rock n' roll, Black Sabbathy feel...I love how it really focuses on music and allows for improvisation live.

I don't know. I don't think that Venus Doom is better or worse than any of the previous albums. It's a different sound, which I believe is good. I personally love Razorblade Romance cuz it's the album that got me into HIM. You just probably don't like the new sound, is all.

I defeniatly disagree with all of this. In my eyes there has been nothing negetive from HIM. I love all of the albums, and listen to them every day, and every day the songs sound even better and have more meaning. Venus Doom is a bit different then their last albums, but i still love it, they still send out the same vibe/feeling, it's just a bit more of a rocky feeling. The band seems to be very proud of it, and they always work really hard on what ever theyre doing. And that's all we an expect from them.
