"He wants to meet you." Spoken with conviction, those words. She believes them completely. "He loves you, and his guilt for not being here for you is immense." She doesn't draw the subject out any longer. What more is there to say? She could tell her son stories of his father, of the past when they were happy and together, but would that only further provoke that brooding fear that he's trying so hard to smother? A flutter of a kiss to the forehead made smooth by youth, and she adds with a small smile, taking a guess at what may be bothering him. "To be with you again brings me happiness beyond compare. I've missed my sweet prince."
She leans back when she feels the breeze from Ruathal's wings sweep across her hair, her bangs lightly flicking at her son's cheeks as she looks up to chuckle at her friend's display. At first she doesn't notice Sei's lack of reaction, too enthralled by the moment. Yet the notion that something isn't right tickles at the back of her mind. Pushing it away, she refrains from tackling that issue, for now.
The tae hovers for just a moment, then taking off to make another pass, now barking gaily. Swooping around in a wide loop, he glides in, flapping his wings to slow his descent so his 'crashing' into Sei isn't of the sort that could hurt the young fa'e. Now he's all yaps and licks, wings tucking back as the tae headbutts both fa'e enthusiastically.

The boy simply let his mother's last sentence with no answer, now that a noisy distraction made it's way to him. Now that the tae is barking heavily Sei does seem to notice him, ducking sightly while using the sound as a guide to act accordingly, letting out a laugh as the tae starts licking his face. "Hey, hey, what are you doing ?" The boy, however, is more amused than bothered.

Between the multiple lickings, which are likely getting Sei's unresponsive skin close to soaked, somehow the tae manages to wriggle his suddenly puppyish self between them. Apparently he wants some attention, too.
"Rua, you attention hog!" Shina admonishes him, though her hands are already scratching behind the blue ears. She's smiling still, and the tae looks hardly repentant. More like basking in the glow of family found and hopefully kept. He whuffles at Sei's chest, drawing in the boy's scent for memory's sake. This one is his to guard now, after all.
"He says that he's tasting and smelling of his family," she translates for Sei's sake. Dark blue ringed blue eyes twinkle as she recalls something. "I remember that you had your own companions, not so long ago. You didn't outgrow them, did you?" It seems even the angelic half fa'e is capable of a bit of teasing, her right hand lifting from tae fur to measure half an inch above Sei's head.

"Really ?" The fa'e rose an eyebrow, and peered down at the tae. "I bet I must taste and smell kind of odd, then."
The fa'e then blinked, visibly not much getting the teasing in that statement. "Well, hm, Zora's inside... probably grooming. Kikai.... I just hope he's not making any trouble again." He frowned a bit. Last time, he brought home a cactus and a pinecone. A pinecone, of all thing ! Not to mention all the pine needles.

It's almost a good thing that Sei's skin doesn't feel the now avid snuffling sweeping across the boy's belly. It'd most assuredly tickle otherwise. A soft "Whuff!" announces the tae's sneeze before he goes right back to sniffing Sei all over.
Shina looks bemused by both what the tae is informing her of through their telepathic and empathic link, as well as by Sei's miniature report. "He says you smell like salt, cotton fluff, sand, wood, and really strongly of some sort of metal he doesn't recognize." She stops speaking as Ruathal pauses to whuffle again, playfully ruffling his ears. "It's the sand that's bothering his nose. He also says you smell like me. A lot like me, actually." This pleases her, even if it's likely because they were hugging earlier.
"I remember meeting Zora and Kikai, though I'm unsure if they will me." Onto other subjects, then. Still petting the wriggling Ruathal, she keeps her gaze on her son, watching him fondly as only a mother can. "What have you come to enjoy doing, Sei?"

The boy blinked, visibely bemused. "Well, can't tell you where that sand came from." He pondered for a moment. Ah, wait, he helped Alden make castle in the sandbox earlier.
Alden. Yeah, he still had to find a way to make that one go smoothly...
"Hm, well. I play videogames some. Im pretty good." He announced, proudly. "I, hmm... Make models too. You know, wooden airplane models and the like ?" Well, that explained the wood smell the tae had picked up quite nicely. "I read, too, and sometimes I help Wren fix things."

"Perhaps from a dream of a beach?" is suggested with a wry little smile, with Ruathal waggling his tail faster at the thought of getting to visit that open landscape with the rolling waves again. "Sand or no, Rua loves to chase gulls by the beach. We went there a couple of times ..."
"What are videogames?" Shina asks, sounding both curious and interested, though she has no idea what Sei's talking about. If her son likes them, surely they must be interesting! "Ah, I've seen model kits in the Barton shops. Do you like those of airplanes better than those of bridges and boats?" She's nearly a fully grown adult, yet somehow Shina can speak of such things with pure interest, her eyes lighting up like those of a child about to receive a wonderful present. Of course, the reason for her getting so into the conversation is who is at the nexus of it. There is no better subject for the angelic half fa'e than that of her son.

"Heh, I guess he runs really fast then ?" He pondered for a moment, then sudenly paused at the question. Somehow, the child's stare seemed even blanker than usual.
"They're... well... ..Ill just show you one day I guess." He shrugged. "Not really, it was just the only example that came to mind..."
Somewhere over them, a figure flew by, visibly looking for something, long black wings kicking air to remain afloat. To the angel, it would seem to be her son's guardian... who apparently grew her hair out ?

"Like the wind." The delicate face shifts into a 'What?' expression when he pauses, feeling his bafflement even before his next words come.
Then she laughs, soft and sweet, her voice as ever like music. "Consider it a date, then," she agrees with a nod, lightly brushing Sei under his chin. She just can't seem to keep her hands off of him, as if constantly reassuring herself that he's really there.
"Mm?" Catching a glimpse of the dark winged figure, she points up into the night sky. "Sei, look! Isn't that Zero up there?" Waving, she then shouts up to the woman that the moon illuminates to be in full and vibrant color for her lowlight vision, a gift from the guardian she is bonded to. "Zerooo-oooo! Helloooo-oooo!"

Sei blinked, then looked up. "That's not Zero - she doesn't fly anymore..."
The figure paused then, hovering in place for a moment, then slowly drifted down. While the resemblance was startling - it wasn't quite Zero, as hairs Shina might have mistaken as blue where black, and eyes a deep orange, with no scar crossing her face. She landed not far behind the two, looking oddly amused.
"Well, at any rate, she must have sneezed quite a bit." The voice was, however, eerily similar. "Anyway, im sent to say you should probably come back inside, you've been out awhile. And who's that ?" The woman asked, peering at Shina curiously.

Speaking of hair, or rather, fur, Ruathal half crouches and darts to be between this stranger and those he considers family, hackles starting to rise in silky tufts. Primal instinct and intelligence collide as he eyes the woman with featureless white eyes that are now taking on a definitely unfriendly glow, though he does not growl. Not yet.
Shina calms him, for the most part, with a single touch between the white feathery wings where they sprout from the tae's upper back. "Please do not mind my friend. He is very protective," her soft soprano apologizes gently, her smile warm and her features set to express an openness to learn just who this individual is. "I am Shina, Sei's birth mother. Whom do I have the pleasure of addressing?"

When she notices the tae, the woman gives a strong push of black-feathered wings to rise a few centimeters above the ground, just in case he would be so inclined to attack. Little good that would do her, since the creature also had wings...
"Ah, so you're Shina." The woman nods. "I go by Uno. You can both come inside, if you want - Zero's trying to rock Alden to sleep. I think she could use your help here." The woman gave a glance at Sei, who barely repressed a sigh. Explanation time would come sooner than he hoped...
"Yeah, I guess so. It could go on for awhile if I don't."

More stroking brings down Ruathal's hackles, though he sticks awfully close to Sei. His judgment falls along the lines that he's seen Shina fight before, and he's less sure that the little one will be as capable should a fight break out. Translation for the over-protective tae's way of thinking? Guard the young one, at least until Shina seems hurt. Oh, and that Uno smells ... odd.
"I'm glad to meet you, Uno." She's about to add that she'd be delighted to help in rocking the presumed baby to sleep, but catches the glance down to Sei, followed by her son's convoluted emotions of exasperation, worry, and a fondness for the young one they are discussing. The flush of pride that colors Shina's cheeks is instant. Zero feels that her little boy is responsible enough to take care of his younger sibling? How wonderful!
"Would you need any assistance, Sei?" she asks quietly, laying a hand upon his surprisingly sturdy shoulder despite its small stature.

"Well, ill go tell her, then. Im sure she'll be quite happy to see you back !" And with that, Uno flew off, visibly glad to put distance in between her and the tae.
"No, it's gonna be okay. He gets fussy when im not near." Figure now is a good time to take the jump as any. "Because, well, mom, you see, the thing is... Alden's... bonded to me. Not Zero. It's a long story, really."

The tae relaxes fully once Uno's out of sight, padding around in a circle to headbutt Sei's hip with the flat of his forehead. Just like all tae, he acts like a blend of feline and canine, though usually more of the latter.
Surprise registers first, but that's soon smoothed over by how much this explains some of his more negative emotions of the evening. "Is it a long story you don't mind sharing while we go inside?"
