Sabin Duvert Vice Captain

Sabin beamed a smile and rose to his feet as Moreau entered the room. He didn't seem to mind the semblance that his arrival was unexpected or Aubrey's embarrassment; the man who could answer his questions had arrived!
"Nicholas! It is good to see you again! It has been what, three years now, no? You seem to be doing... quite well for yourself! And if what Aubrey has been showing me and my imagination has been devision is ANY indication of the work that you are planning on doing here then.... mon dieux... how could I not wish to be privvy to the research you are conducting! I am flattered that you thought back to me! I have to ask, however, what made me come to mind? It seems that you are delving deep into genetics - and while my science background is nothing to scoff at - I'm sure that the qualified geneticists you could employ would shatter my expierence..."
Sabin took a breath, and Moreau could tell that the questions were hanging on the back of his tongue - building up like a pressure-cannon, being held back only by the finest thread of formality.

"Yes Professor Duvert, it has been three years, and it's Dr. Moreau now, if you'd be so kind." Dr. Moreau's smile turned to more a half smile. "Yes, I have far surpassed my previous work, being far from the scruples of Harvard has helped me go further and I have nearly realized my dreams."
Dr. Moreau paused for a moment, considering what Sabin had said. "Ahhh, your too modest with yourself, your more than qualified. But I hope you understand I will have many many excellent technicians here. What I need are people I can trust to watch over the different teams. I need people who won't betray me." There was a glint in the Doctor's eye.
"Aubrey here is a fine example of someone perfect for a position like this, she is intelligent, capable, and completely loyal. She is my personal assistant, and as you will be over a team of scientists, she'll be monitoring your work." Dr. Moreau paused for a moment, watching for signs of discontent. "You'll answer to her, unless I say otherwise of course."

Aubrey's sudden interest in the floor seem to lift as Dr. Moreau mentioned her name. She couldn't help but puff up a bit at his words, feeling flattered. She straightened up and tried to suppress her smile a bit - keep it at a comfortable polite appreciation instead of the giddy schoolgirl grin she felt like breaking. She nodded at Sabin in acknowledgement.

Sabin gave a bit of a smile at the "reprimand" of Moreau's new title, and he supposed with good enough reason. Finalizing doctoral work was quite the task in medical school. Hell, any doctoral degree was difficult, but he had heard from other students and faculty of that orientation just how many sleepless nights and rigorous exams came with the medical studies. "Perhaps I myself have been in Harvard's ivory tower too long. Too much teaching and not enough research, and the research that I really want to do doesn't tend to pull in the grants" Sabin admitted with a wry chuckle.
"I'm glad that you feel you can confide in me, Doctor Moreau. You will not see me balk at technicalities, and I agree that I should be aptly suited to overseeing a team of scientists." Sabin paused as his mind processed the last bit of instruction. "Aubrey?" He tried not to sound rude, but to be perfectly honest, while he heard that she was a doctor as well, she was young and... so.... chipper! Not that that meant anything to her capabilities.... but he had NOT expected that a woman like she of having such rank. Sabin turned inquisitive eyes back to Aubrey, whom he had all but been ignoring since Moreau came into the room. He looked her over again, as if reaccessing his first judgment. "I'm sure she's perfectly capable if you have entrusted her to such a position, Moreau." He gave a smile and a shrug. He had had far worse supervisors before than a seemingly pleasant (even if perhaps overly so) young woman.
"I do admittedly have many questions, however...." He didn't seem to be able to contain it anymore. "Your research - you MUST tell me what is going on! What your plans are - what precisely you're doing? And what I can do to help - will I be staying here on the Island? And if so, where?" Sabin's voice began to pick up speed, his eyes shining with curiousity, and unless interrupted, the questions seemed to threaten to continue on ceaselessly till well after dark.

Dr. Moreau looked at Sabin's grin, almost judging him one last time. Then he began. "Well, since your so interested allow me to explain..."
Dr. Moreau began a long rant, explaining exactly what he had planned on this island. The gene theropy that would blend humans and animals into new distinct creatures with abilities that surpassed normal humans. After he went on about this for a while he wrapped it up.
"Well, if that is enough explaination for you Sabin, I believe Aubrey can show you to your quarters." Dr. Moreau nodded and turned to walk out of the room, back into his lab, leaving Aubrey and Sabin to show themselves out.

*Sabin's eyes took on such a shine as Moreau spoke, the spark of obsession having been ignited from Moreau's own and then kindered by the fuel of Sabin's overactive imagination. The idea was phenomenal, taking all of his hopes and nagging wonder at the teases he had seen in Aubrey's own ... unique anatomy and expounding on it tenfold. There was no way in HELL Sabin could let this opportunity pass him by. He had picked up and left one lifestyle behind before - and for worse reasons. This is what he needed to get the breath of inspiration back, his drive, his sense of wonder. Screw Harvard, and screw gene manipulation laws of the states, he was in.
With an enthusiastic shake of Moreau's hand, Sabin was already beginging to talk Aubrey's ear off as far as specifics - how to get his things over, where he'd be staying, and when and what he could do to start helping out.
