a[lunie]card Sir_Catherine Thank you all for your input! Wow, more than I expected, to be honest.
Alright, I'll name Zorin and Rip as part of the Nazi Verwolf (sp?) unit, but it must be clear that they are not actual werewolves. Are we certain that Schro is also part of this unit, not just attached to Major? Is Captain part of this unit?
As far as the debate about Carmilla, Laura, Baobhan, etc., I'll wait until that gets itself sorted out to post anything definite. It's not quite as pressing any issue anyhow as Alucard/Dracula and Schro's true nature.
Also, neither anagram nor enigma is the word I am looking for. An enigma is what Alucard calls his name, but it is not what it is. I am looking for a term used to describe the exact reversal of one word to form another. Think 'mom' and 'dad'. Reversed they mean the same thing. Granted, Alucard and Dracula do not look the same reversed, but they mean the same being. Either way, that is the term elluding me. *mutters about being an English major and should bloody well know this* Palindrome? I'll look into the term. Off hand, I have no idea, hence why I ask all of you.

THE Jan Valentine Minor fix: Schrodinger is spelt like this: Schrödinger. I was to tired to dig the special 'o' from my keyboard. I'll copy and paste your spelling of the name into this list to fix the matter. Thank you Jan.
Never thought you'd here me thanking you, did you Mr. Valentine? wink

Podkayne of Mars michigami Kopii Arnaert Incognito is one who goes in secret But yes, please label that Schro, Zorin, and Rip Van (the later of which specifically) are werewolves in title. I hate repeat topics of people asking if Rip is a werewolf or a vampire =/ i think she already did saying their unit is called the werewolves, but people do get things confused a lot. especially poor scho. people keep insisting that he's a werewolf, and he's not, he's a catboy, and also hitler's son if you read the pre-hellsing hentai hirano wrote. (hitler+catgirl=scrodinger crying ) poor schro, i'd hate to be him when father's day rolls around... I dunno, I don't think Schroe really minds having Hitler for a father... @~o'
I prefer to think that Schroedinger is purely Dok's invention in Hellsing canon, since... the idea brought on by that hentai is pretty creepy. Hitler on the sports scene is funny, but Hitler on a catgirl is what scars people for life. gonk
I kind of looked at that pre-Hellsing story, but it still confuses me, and I don't really want to go look at it again to clear things up; but anyway, Dok was the one that instigated the HitlerxxxCatgirl experiment, wasn't he?yup, although until i find a translated version, (or someone who can read japanese), i can't be sure if he made the catgirl himself, or summoned her like a demon. and apparently at one point in one comic the precursor to Captain saved a girl from being raped, and Zorin seems to be inspired by the main guy from Gunmania. Hirano has a thing for rape themed hentai, so be careful downloading his older works. eek burning_eyes His evangelion doujin is hilarious though. Gendo in a pimp suit. 3nodding oh, and before i forget, why is the thread that started the original upset in the lists still unlocked? i thought that the "alucard's name a coincidence" thread was supposed to have been locked a while ago, wasn't it? and is there any way possible we can just PRETEND incognito isn't canon and refuse to admit he even exists?

Sadly, I don't think we can just pass him off and say he doesn't exist. While I agree, as he is one of the most shallow villains in modern anime, he's needed on the list in order to clarify flaws with the original anime.
I don't view him as canon, along with the last eight episodes of the TV series, but he's needed for the list.
But, if I ever see an Incognito cosplayer on Gaia or at an anime convention, I'll kill something.... maybe I'll give a baby to The Major.....

Hey, hey, don't turn this thread into a bashing of the original anime, even if you're just harping on Incognito. Save that for the OVA sub forum if you must. I happen to support the OA and use it as my cannon and will argue the point. Support what you will, but let's not use this thread for an argument, thank you.

As far as the origins of Schro, I wont put up anything definitive on the list. It's supposed to be a list of basic story facts and such, not speculation, assumption or henti connections. I'll draw from the manga, OA and OVA only.
By the way, the original thread that inspired this remained unlocked because I was looking for responses to my original post/idea for this thread. As it's gone over well and has gotten a good response, I'll go lock the thread.

Palindrome is indeed the term I was looking for. It is what Alucard/Dracula is. Maybe not pronounced the same front and backwards, but the same meaning and person, the same style of intention.

Ok, don't know if evidence from The Dawn works in here, but heres one...
Despite the harrassing Integra receives from the Knights, Sir Islands actually has more respect for her than he ever had for her father.
Also.
Whether or not you ship AxI, Alucard is canonically sexually attracted to Integra.

Elindarhya Ok, don't know if evidence from The Dawn works in here, but heres one... Depends what it's being used for. It'll depend on how truly basic and essential the fact presented is for whether or not it's added to the list.Elindarhya Despite the harrassing Integra receives from the Knights, Sir Islands actually has more respect for her than he ever had for her father. Interesting. I haven't read the Dawn, just been told the general idea of it.Elindarhya Also. Whether or not you ship AxI, Alucard is canonically sexually attracted to Integra. I do agree he is.

9. Millennium is based off of a real branch of SS who tried to create the "Ageless Immortal Soldiers" (If you want, I could go further into this topic, the story is actually pretty horrifying.)
10. Rip Van Winkle is named after the Famous character of the same name who fell asleep for 20 years and awoke to a whole new country. (Her alarm clock is the only tie-in to this)
11. (not really important, but I like it) Anderson and Abraham Van Helsing are the only two people who have ever made Alucard cry. mrgreen
12. Almost all of the characters from Hellsing are from Kohta Hirano's early works.

Elindarhya Also. Whether or not you ship AxI, Alucard is canonically sexually attracted to Integra. Thats a fact because in volume 3 page 90 Alcard tells Integra "How splended, it prompts a stirring in my loins." and then in Volume 4 page 59 He says to her, "How did you like the joy of war, Miss Director...Did it set you aboil?"

Yes indeed....ahhh....The line in volume 3 always makes me smile...Just something about Integra's reaction... There's also the "You make my blood boil." line from the OA, if we feel like counting that....
