"I'm sure far worse things could happen if you stuck around."

Wings shifted slightly at the pale Kalona's side, the sickingly calm smirk never leaving his face. As the Alicorn shifted course, Bax shifted slightly more. If left at the current pace, his path would soon bring him alongside his prey.

Kal heard the change in location, and immediately guessed the other stallion's intention. His skin crawled at the thought of letting the gap between them close. The little alicorn had run out of options, he had no choice but to give the other what he wanted...

Without warning he kicked into a run, hoping to reach the new woods before the white stallion caught up. Kal had no idea what would happen if he couldn't make it, but he knew it wouldn't be good.

Hrm...finally. The little game of cat and mouse and escalated into a full out chase. This would surely be fun.

As quickly as Kal had gone into full gallop, Bax did as well. Within mere moments his longer stride brought him within range of the Alicorn. Without even so much as a word of warning, the Kalona lashed out to bite at the other's side. If successful, Kal would feel rather sharp teeth ripping into fur and flesh. Bax didn't have the flattened out teeth of a grazer, but rather the sharpened teeth of a true hunter.

Kal screamed in fright and pain as the kalona's teeth sank into his haunch, and he quickly aimed a kick at the larger stallion. If it connected it would hurt, and if not, hopefully it would at least slow the stallion down. Without turning to see the result the little alicorn had bolted again and was now dodging through the trees. When the area lightened and he had to duck his head slightly to avoid the branches, he knew he had made it to the young forest. Hopefully the branches he could easily duck would slow down the larger stallion further.

The kick connected, sending Bax staggering back and forcing him to release his hold on Kal. It did indeed hurt, as the Kalona's throbbing chest told him, but he could nurse that after obtaining his prey.

The brief taste of blood he had been allowed simply excited his senses further. Brown eyes glazed over slightly as the Kalona went into a state of bloodlust. Nostrils flaring, he took off running after the smaller stallion once more.

CURSE being larger though. All these stupid branches in his way served both to slow him down, but also further anger him. Shouting curses and threats at Kal the whole time, the Kalona struggled and forced his way through the young forest. A few branches were -not- going to keep him from this tasty treat.

The fierce cursing and loud crashing behind him just made Kal all the more terrified, and he ran as fast as he could despite the uneven ground and pain in his leg. His outright panic lessened as he put more distance between himself and the crashing, and he tried to tell himself that he had to think clearly. The young forest wasn't very large, and soon he would be back out in old growth where the larger stallion would once again have the advantage.

His mind went horribly blank, what could he do to escape when the other was larger, faster, and now angry?

Without any better ideas he made a hard right and booked it along the edge of the new forest, hoping the raging kalona would just go straight on and lose track of him.

Bax burst out of the new forest, and for a moment it seemed as though Kal's plan might work. The enraged Kalona galloped a bit away from the forest before suddenly stopping. Something was -not- right. His prey couldn't disappear into thin air like that. Snorting loudly, Bax surveyed the land. As the scent of blood hit his nostrils, he turned and once again took up the pursuit of his prey. At least Kal had some breathing room now, but the Kalona was still hot on his trail.

Kal was breathing hard, and although he could feel his muscles starting to tire there was no way he was going to slow down. The scent of his own blood frightened him, and he was pretty sure if he stopped the kalona would catch him and kill him. From the way his leg ached he knew those wicked teeth would make short work of the job.

Hearing the thundering hooves of the kalona on his trail, he dove back into the new forest. He couldn't hide from the pale stallion, but perhaps he could hope to outrun him, or find a safe place to defend himself.

Great, back -into- the low branches of the new forest. This meal was certainly being an irritating little brat, but that'd simply make it all the more sweeter when he caught back up.

Turning, Bax folded his wings tightly against his body and dove once more into the low trees. He ducked what he could and simply broke through what he couldn't. All this growth was starting to take a toll on his body, but some scratches from trees were not enough to deter his pursuit.

Kal zigzagged through the forest, deftly avoiding anything that would scratch or harm him, but he was definitely wearing out. He even stumbled once, and quickly realized that the young forest was no longer an advantage. With increasing panic he spurred himself onward, back towards the river where he had encountered the bloodthirsty stallion.

He spread his wings at the river's edge and used his momentum to sail clear across the turbulent waters, hitting the ground running on the other side. Still, the kalona had wings too. Kal needed to find somewhere safe, where he could rest and take the time to heal his leg wound.

Bax followed, and without even a moment's hesitation he leaped over the river as well. His own demonic wings spread, and caught just enough air to allow for an easy glide to the river's other side. Once hooves touched solid ground, the wings folded tightly against his side and he was off once again.

This was definitely starting to grow old though. The pain in his chest was now a constant ache, and while it had been fun before the chase was simply annoying now. On he ran, gaining ground on the Alicorn.

The little white stallion could hear the kalona gaining on him, and he didn't need to spare a glance backwards to confirm it. At this rate he was sure he would be caught and killed. He remembered there was a giant patch of brambles in the area, which would be too dense for his pursuer to get through if he hid there.

But that was too far away, he wouldn't be able to make it unless he could stall the stallion further.

"Whatcha still running away for? I thought you weren't afraid of anything that came with the storm!"

Bax taunted his prey, still galloping along behind him.

"I'm sure that leg of yours is really hurting by now! Why don't you stop and let me take care of it, hrm?"
PostPosted: Wed Sep 19, 2007 9:05 am

If this were any kind of sane conversation, Kal would have insisted that being attacked didn't usually come with storms, and he could take care of his own leg thank you very much. But it was by no means sane, and he didn't even want to spare a breath when he should just urge himself onwards.

As he heard the hoofbeats draw closer he aimed another frantic kick, hoping to dissuade the larger kalona from going after his leg again. Further injury to that leg would certainly slow him down, if not completely cripple him, so he had to keep the stallion away from him until he could get to the safety of the brambles.

Sane conversation. Right. Who had sane conversation with Kalona?

The kick didn't connect, but it did serve to ward off Bax for a few precious moments. Of course, this also further infuriated the raging Kalona, and it didn't take him long to start galloping after Kal once again.

"Just give it up! You aren't going to get away! If you stop, I'll be merciful and end your suffering quickly.."
