"Well," she murmured, still studying him. "I think..." Trailing off, she quickly whipped out one of her books and flipped furiously through the pages. Pouring over it, her eyes lit up as she found what she was looking for. "See this?" she asked, pointing to a picture of a creature, half man, half snake, rather like the one before her, minus the wings. "It's called a naga." She looked up at him thoughfully. "It looks like you, but it doesn't have wings." Looking back at the page, she frowned, unsatisfied that she couldn't pinpoint his species exactly.

Peering at the page of the book she was pointing to, he nodded slowly, even as he folded his wings closer to his back, in a more comfortable arrangement. "The wings don't fit, though it is a close match. It was wondered for a while if I might be a bat/naga hybrid. But bats don't have two sets of wings."
Doesn't mention that the only creature he ever found that matched his description was a hellfire serpant.

She nodded, flipping absently through the book some more. "I'll keep looking though," she said, looking up at him with a smile.

Tilting his head to the side, Touda regarded the kit with curiosity, not having been smiled at longer then he could remember. "...What is your name little one? I have some books on creatures and mythology that you may find interesting, I can drop them off for you later."

Her face lit up at the thought of more no doubt back-breaking books to read. "My name's Iunius, and I would love that!"

Allowing a small smile to escape, he nodded to Iunius, pleased that she seemed to have a true love of books. "It is nice to meet you Iunius. My name is Touda. I'll make sure the books are waiting for you at the front door tomorrow morning."

"It's nice to meet you too, Touda," she replied, holding out her hand politely, before remembering about his claws. "Oh, I'm sorry!" she exclaimed, flushing.

Shaking his head, Touda extended his arm as well and caught the kit's paw in the palm of his hand, carefully not curling his claws over far enough to even touch her fur. He shook her paw gently, once, and then released it again.
"It's alright. They are sharp, but I've learned how to control them," He murmered with a small smirk, "It's hard to read a book when you keep ripping holes in the pages."

She had flinched when he had reached for her hand, but smiled warmly once she realized he wouldn't hurt her, even chuckled at his joke. "That would be a shame."

He gave the kit a small smile when she laughed, his coils crating a makeshift seat for him to settle his torso into, his claws resting on his scales. "You wouldn't believe how many books had the misfortune of meeting me as a child. I believe 'collateral damage' would be an appropriate term."

Iunius giggled, covering her mouth politely. "I have a few brothers who are adults and still can't handle a book."

Shaking his head, he muttered, "Have they no respect for the written word? Some are like that I suppose, sad as it is."

She shook her head. "No, no. Char just... doesn't have the attention span to read a book. So he'll turn it into a hat."

He looked at Iun dubiously. "A hat? Of all things, he uses it as a hat? I can think of so many more interesting and valuable uses for a book... Doorstop, paperweight, firestarter... Though, I wouldn't recommend him to use that last suggestion for a book that is residing his head..." He mused aloud, making a great show of pondering other possiblities.

Ion's grin widened. "Oh, no, he's used it for those too. And in baseball. As the ball, bat, and bases."
