Valens laid his hands on the desk, keeping all of his concentration on the sole task at hand. After all something as simple and straightforward as lifting up a desk he was sure he could accomplish. When he thought he had a good enough hold on it, he started to lift working on keeping his mind on the 'flow' of things, urging the flow to continue so that he could accomplish his goal.
The horse gave a low, whinnying sort of sound as he started to lift the desk up.

Thomas nodded and folded his arms in front his chest. "Go on."
The boy had learned to channel the flow of his energy well enough... now to see if the boy could finish without hurting himself. Or worse, without hurting the teacher.

Valens gave a nod of his head and at the teacher's words he tightened his hands slightly on the desk and started to lift it up. It was a struggle to begin with, so he concentrated on the flow of energy a bit more.
Come on, up! He thought to himself and for a moment the desk felt pretty light, to light. Valens gave a surprised sound as he went from straining a bit to get the desk up off the ground to accidentally sending the piece of furniture sailing over his head.
"I am so sorry!" He cried, certain that his teacher was going to yell at him for trying to break D-corp property, "I will go get it!" He spun around and was able to make a total of three steps. First step normal, second step a bit shaky, and the third step was more him falling flat on his face then an actually step.
"W-Wha...?"
Ellie was on her feet in an instant rushing over to her boy, eyes wide as she looked him over and tried to figure out where he was hurt at. When she could find no visible wounds she turned her attention to the teacher.

Thomas calmly reached a hand out in a motion that was similar to someone catching a baseball. The desk stopped mid-air before it had a chance to crash to the floor or the wall it had been sailing towards. It slowly righted itself in the air and settled back down to the ground. "Not unexpected for your first time." Thomas explained as he stepped forward.
"Work on it. I expect you to do it flawlessly for your final. You have one week to prepair so it's best you put your best effort into it. Lift it over your head, and set it down on the ground again. Simple as that. You're free to leave."

Valens was in awe when he noticed that the desk hadn't gone crashing or hadn't been broken. Even more amazing to him was that the teacher hadn't started to yell at him about how he wasn't careful enough. He gave a bright smile, "I will make sure to practice." He said excitedly, reaching a hand over to catch hold of Ellie's neck, "Help me up."
She gave him a look as if to ask how she was supposed to help when he was pretty big compared to her but she did her best and between the two of them got the horse back up on his hooves.
"Will see you next class." Valens said, walking on wobbly feet to collect his things. He would go find himself somewhere to sit down and nap before he tried to attempt that spell again. It was rather tiring.
The horse waved before he and his Silver headed out the door.
