Though it felt better to smile than to hold himself aloof, Antony was going to play it cautious. He might not want to jeopardize his character, but he still didn't trust her. That had been done once, sort of, and he wasn't going to run those risks again. One could never truly anticipate the motives of another, be they wind, kalona, or even regular; until he felt comfortable deep in his gut that things were fine, he'd be wary.
But there were such things as concessions. He WOULD try to listen, and he would try to understand, complicated as Loveless was making things out to sound.
"Look, Loveless, I REALLY don't understand what you're saying. You could never hurt me or dad, so you only talked about hurting us to my face? Tried to get me to hunt, to kill, to 'embrace my inner kalona', all with the ultimate knowledge that you couldn't hurt me?"
Strangely enough, though, at least one aspect of the whole explanation rang true. In spite of his undoubtably mixed-breed parentage, she'd never attacked him. Not once had she even TRIED, in spite of ample opportunity and motive (what with her being a 'pure' kalona and all). She hadn't tried to attack him...
And that one truth was a seed for the rest of this story. She wasn't lying about one fact, so...perhaps, maybe, she wasn't lying about the rest? "I can't say I understand any of this, not really, Lessy."
His old nickname for her rolled off his tongue, her new insecurities making that Freudian slip that much easier. But it did...if she was serious.

Lessy.. she didn't deserve that nickname, not one bit. "You don't have to understand right away Antony, but I appreciate that you are giving me the time to speak." As strange as it sounded, he could have walked away from her moments ago, and left her to dwell in her own thoughts. But for some reason he remained in front of her, asking questions and wondering what was going on. "I am just trying to do my own thing for once, if that makes sense."
It also took her a moment to realize that she was talking so much about herself. She had been the focus, and she didn't like that. "What about you Antony? How has everything been with you?" He seemed so shifty in front of her before.. had something happened to him? "There is something different.. I can tell, its strange."
She felt bad for being so blunt at him, but they had already passed that point of conversation.
She waved her long bangs out of her eyes and continued to watch him, but with a calmer expression. She felt better for some reason, but Antony had that effect on her. She also moved her body away from the tree, and walked over to where the stream stood. She put her hoof in lazily, and stirred it around at the feeling of chill on her body. "Is this what relaxing feels like? It is nice.."

"Whatever. It's just common courtesy, though I grant you might have to regress your mind a bit to actually remember what that is." Relaxing a bit more, Tony allowed more of a grin to slide onto his face, the rightness of that action making his uncertainties at whether or not this degree of easiness with Loveless was prudent or not diminish even further. "I know your father, and he would have taught you about the concept, though, so you just have to dig a bit. And doing your own thing is cool."
After all, what young Soquili adult didn't want to get out and experience the world firsthand? Especially if they disagreed with their parents, or had strong personalities, or even just curious natures. Hell, even if they were none of the above there was a draw to being on one's own.
But he digressed. Even mentally, he digressed.
Remaining where he was, Tony ran the points of one through his mane, shrugging his shoulders in response to Loveless' question. Being more communicative and open didn't mean he had to bare his soul, that doing so would be practical, or even that his suspicions were gone. Lessened, yes, but not gone. "Well, time and tide wait for no Soquili. It'd be unnatural to assume that I'd be immune from that change." That was all he'd say to THAT effect, though.
So he was more than willing to shift with the new subject. "Basically, though the concept of 'relaxation' varies from Soquili to Soquili. Some regard relaxation as any time they're following their whims, others are only relaxing when they're lying down. Some need certain stimulae, like the smell of apples, and some...well, some just see what the mood itself says. If you feel at peace and comfortable and rather like you could go on as you are indefinitely, then you're probably relaxed, yes." That was a roundabout way of describing it, but at least he hit the high points. Not that he doubted she knew the definition of relaxation, but it was something to talk about, something innocuous.
Tilting his head slightly, he looked over at the dark mare with one brow arched slightly in query. "Is it really that foreign a concept to you?"

"Have you seen my father at all?" she felt like pulling the question out randomly, and she quirked her eyebrow playfully. "He still hasn't aged at all, and I will probably surpass him before anyone." With a light smile, she tried to remain chill with her front hoof still in the water. "I must look like a fool at the moment, talking all normal. Not only does it feel strange, but it must look strange as well. Though, when I was younger I used to chat like this with my father all the time. Chat without being angry and all."
It was strange how things came and went, and she took a deep breath before responding to what Antony had said. "I don't really see what you are saying, and I didn't mean to pry.." Or did she? Was she honestly worrying about someone else?
Openly shaking her head, she broke out of that train of thought and continued to eye the stallion. "With that description, it sounds as if you are a pro at relaxing. I would expect no less from you, Antony." She brought her face away from his, but continued to smile lightly. If he could joke around with her, she could do the same as well?!
"Well yes, I am used to being on edge all the time. And now after doing nothing for so long, I taught myself there are other things out there, especially when you are not happy." She would need to see her father again soon, but not until she was ready to face him with confidence again. She needed her own confidence for once, but she had no doubt that she would find it.
"So have you grown into the same kind of flirt as your father?" She hadn't seen him ever, so she was clueless to how he acted around others. "I imagine you doing that sort of thing." Her tone wasn't negative, and she continued to hold a rather playful expression.

"Well, some Soquili are more resiliant to the effects of age than others. My own father is still going strong, after all, and to look at him you might even think he was newly grown. In a way, though, it's positive to know that drastic change isn't in the cards for everyone." Innocuous as that particular vein of conversation was, to Antony there was nothing quite as 'strange' as Loveless' continued determination to swell on the surreality of this whole situation. He was out on a limb here, trying to make things 'normal', and that was a lot harder when every other sentence of hers brought the topic back to their...unique history.
"It's not prying if it's not made out to be, and don't worry about it. It's not really something of interest anyway, and certainly not something that needs discussing anyway. The gist of the matter is that life changes, and we change with it, and that's really all that needs saying, I guess." Albeit in a remarkably roundabout way. Conciseness might be a skill, but he'd never gotten that down; this conversation was, if nothing else, highlighting that lack.
Though if he started mulling over THAT now, he'd never get past it, instead giving Loveless a chuckle. "Relaxation is something I'm fond of, yes, though I'm one of those thatchange what I define as 'relaxation' nearly every day. That's one of the things I try to seek out companionship for in some cases; having a friend to goof off with is always enjoyable. But there's something to be said for solitude...."
Shaking his head at the continued crypticness of his remarks, Tony walked up to the stream as well, lowering one wingtip down to trail through the water. His attention seemingly on the action for a few moments, the stallion glanced over at Loveless at the last comment, his long forelock obscuring one eye but doing nothing to cover the look of amusement on his face. "Man, you're really stretching into the realm of the personal, aren't you, Lessy? To say nothing of wrong, as I've never been one to 'flirt'. I lack the finesse, the interest, and the patience for such behavior, but that said..."
Might as well call a spade a spade, right? "I always enjoy sex, when the mood takes me and the mare is accomodating. Can't say I'm as obsessed with it as our fathers, but that's hardly shocking. But enough about me, what's YOUR hormonal approach?" If nothing else, it guaranteed a...unique conversation. Though to be honest, Antony wasn't that voyeuristic; it was merely an angle to work. Though as far as choosing conversation topics, she had a strange approach.

She giggled at his comment about his own father, and knew that every sentence of Antony's were true. "We really have an interesting family line." On that note, the concept of family was still awkward for Loveless, and it occurred to her that she would have to reconcile with her mother soon as well.
"Even if life changes, it is still strange to see you in a different light. Whether that has to do with the fact that it is I you are talking to, and I understand that concept is still grasped as weird." she paused, and realized she needed to make herself make sense. "Or if something really is bothering you, I find it hard to not pick at out of.. concern." Yes, concern. That was a more casual word then worry, and she felt relieved in her quick save of language.
At Antony's last statements, Loveless really had no idea how to act. She stared at him for many moments before widening her eyes. "Sex...?"
.......
Loveless had been around many males before, and that 'sexual desire' never seemed to fill the air. Was she strange, and was their something wrong with her?! So many thoughts filled her brain, since she knew if anything, sex itself was a very normal thing. Was she really that abnormal?!
Loveless almost fell to her knees thinking about it, and she looked back towards Antony before calming her mind. "I.. I don't know?! I have been around many Kalonas males in the past, but I must not be what they desire..." With a gaspy face, she continued to stare at Antony with utter concern. "Now I feel more distant from the Soquili world then ever!" She had been told she was attractive before, but maybe others were lying?!

"Yeah well, the only thing that ever stays the same in existance is that in the end, everyone's dead." Having said that, Antony was pretty well satisfied that things on the 'you're really different' topic had been exhausted; just because it was proving ridiculously easy to be 'relaxed' around Loveless didn't mean a thing. Nope, that just meant it was easy for him to be at ease, not that he trusted her yet or anything.
Still, if she was faking all of this, she was proving to be more adept as dissembling than he ever recalled, as the conversation had by now settled into the joking familiarity that his conversations tended to take...when in the company of friends. Strange, that.
Though not quite as strange as what appeared to be a sudden near-collapse on Loveless' part at the mention of the innocent word 'sex'. She was Ariston's daughter, after all; if that weren't enough, she had at least made an attempt at buckling him via methods of arousal, and either of those facts were enough to suspect her to be on terms of at least basic familiarity with the concept. He honestly wasn't expecting this sort of insecurity, and it confused him.
"So what? Maybe that just means that kalona males in general are repressed. Your dad's the only one I know, but I know that my mother had a pretty dim view of sex before my dad, so it could be a breed thing." That sounded right, actually; from what Antony had been able to infer from meetings with his mother and grapevine chats with Tony, the kalona tended to be passionate about blood. That was actually one of the things that had been able to arouse Izusa, according to Guilian... "Maybe they just need other stimulae to get in the mood. Or perhaps there are some different customs among those of 'pure blood'."
Antony couldn't hide the sardonic smile as he spoke the words; he never hoped or wished to be a pure blood kalona, and the words were riddled with that dispassion. Blood was nothing, after all, in the grand scheme of things. But he wasn't through yet.
"Honestly, you shouldn't freak out because of something that small. You're hot, Lessy; you're a kalona, though, which means no sane non-suicidal non-sex addict non-kalona will go near you. Kalona-wise, you're on your own though; I probably know less about them than you. But you have to do your own thing sometimes, maybe even try the first move. Have you ever been INTERESTED, even, or is this just some feminine insecurity?" If so, this was hardly the first time he'd encountered THAT.

There he went again, being awfully blunt about such a negative reality. She decided to shift away from asking him anymore personal questions, especially since every time she tried to address them, he swerved around with a very apparent silence. Using Loveless as a focus was swaying all of the attention off Antony, and she was confused by this for awhile, until she was distracted again by his next set of words.
She found herself silent as he spoke, until her eyes widened again at the sound of his voice.
..Hot? ... When she searched her mind, a memory from childhood arrived, when her father had told her to go play off to the side, because a 'hot' unicorn had appeared in front of him. So.. hot was a good thing? Why would he compliment her like that? He probably felt bad for her or something.
"Kalona males are very uptight. I find it terrible, actually." she then said, with a solid frown. "I think Kalona females threaten their dominance and it makes them angry against us. But at the same time, it makes me laugh. Kalonas are a complicated thing.." And it wasn't the good complicated, which sometimes brought about interesting situations. It was rather bland, and everything was like a straight line. "The only blood that is pure to me is my fathers.. and I should have realized that awhile ago."
She also realized that her hoof was still residing in the water, and she moved her body a few steps back and looked up to the treeline blankly. "I know that I have many insecurities now, but I don't think that is one of them. Maybe the males I have met haven't been worth my time, or something." That being said, she felt almost awkward for bringing her eyes back on Antonys. She had always been fond of him, but now looking at him THAT way........
She really was a pig.
"I um, I um just have a lot to learn dammit!" Pretending to hear something to the side of her, she moved her face so it was out of his view and tried to calm herself. She was clearly flushed up in the face, and she couldn't allow herself to by seen in such a manner. Besides, Antony would probably laugh at her, since she was selling herself as 'that pathetic mare' to him. Again, she really was a disgrace!

When she wasn't trying to keep her features schooled in that mask of mocking superiority, Loveless actually had a surprisingly versitile face. Watching her now brought back shades of their earliest meeting, the energetic foal with personality to burn. Hard to believe she'd grown into a wicked and devious mare, wasn't it?
Though now, it was almost as if that other mare had never existed. In those moments, Antony saw confusion, perplexion, disinterest, shock, amazement...so many emotions showing in such previously dead eyes, it was almost like he'd eaten one of those trippy mushrooms and didn't know it. Weird.
Though he had to admit he was amused, especially when she got flustered and looked away. Unknowing type that he was, he chalked up said action to embarrassment at the personal level of his questions, past experiences coming back to churn up bad memories, or some similar concept. Even if he'd been looking for it, he probably wouldn't have seen the blush against her dark hide, and even if he COULD see it...well, he wasn't his father and he likely wouldn't understand it. Little signs and subtleties were best left to those that dealt with that.
But he COULD understand discomfort, and his natural reaction was to try and help assuage that. Forgetting for the moment that he was supposed to be on his guard, Antony crossed over to the mare and simply patted her cheek. "So the kalonas are uptight and abstinant; sounds like a great reason to NOT embrace that side of my heritage, as though I needed any more reasons. Seriously, there's no shame in having only met undesirable types; maybe that just means you need to branch out. It's worked for your father, and my father, for that matter, and you're never going to get experience and learn what you like if you don't try and learn firsthand."
Thus said, Antony gave Loveless a warm smile, the first of this encounter that was truly not supressed by anything. Then again, when one spoke from the heart, it was pretty easy to tell... "And that's speaking from experience on MY part."

Antony's swift move caught Loveless off guard, and she watched how close he was to her, and how strange THAT felt. For awhile it looked as though he was avoiding her at all costs, but now? Now she was almost freaked out herself!
But.. she couldn't complain, Antony was directly to the side of her, and.. that was nice. Maybe one of the attractions she found in him was that he DID have some Kalona, but she also loved his spunky and non-Kalona attitude. It was a strange concept indeed, and she prayed to herself that she wasn't falling for him. Hopefully it was some stupid hormonal thing, just like he talked about!
"You know, I really can't see myself enjoying say a Unicorn, or a Wind.. or a Regular." she sighed while putting the images in her head, and almost x-ing them out mentally. "That kind of branching would take awhile I'm sure. Or maybe I am not meant for any of that sort of thing.." With shifty eyes, she continued to try and hide her inner thoughts while looking at Antony's marvelous eyes. Why was he so attractive? She had always SEEN him as good looking, and even when she was angry, that added on to the reason why she couldn't hurt him. But still.. a part of her also wondered if this experience was making her MORE insane.
It finally occurred to her that she was sort of angry. "So you just go for any mare that shows interest?" Well, that was a direct and pushy-shovey question, and she hoped that Antony at LEAST had standards. "Because I would find myself disappointed in you if that was the case." Disappointed, jealous, ...
No, CRAZY seemed to fit that sentence better, but a part of her did hope that Antony was wise in his decision making. It would feel vulgar if it were any other way.

There was danger in allowing oneself to be too relaxed in dangerous situations; perhaps later, when Antony was reflecting on the meeting with Loveless, he would berate himself for his innatentiveness in the face of danger. After all, just because she hadn't tried to attack him before and had said she wouldn't in the future didn't mean she might not change her mind in the now.
But as things stood, acting as he was just felt RIGHT. Paranoia was well and good, but when that paranoia came at the cost of one's personal identity, well...then that paranoia cost too much. He'd had that internal arguement before, after all.
So he didn't dwell on those negatives, relaxing subconsciously into the new role that had sprung up with Loveless; conversation partner, rather than competitor. The shift was easy enough to undertake, because Loveless herself was so accomodating. Rather then being stiff and aloof, she was acting, well...normal.
It was easy for him to tease her, consequently. "Well, it might be that you've only really had experience with Kalona; obviously you'd have to spend time with the other races to even attain a degree of familiarity with them, and again from experience I can say that they can be very prejudicial. Kalona have a bad rep with most other races, and you'd be fighting an uphill fight."
In Tony's case, he'd been very lucky; lucky to have a supportive father, and lucky to meet friends like Dodger at a young age who, in spite of racial differences, didn't care. "You just have to be willing to take a stand when you actually want something."
Lecturing mode off, though, he could deal with that last comment. "Oh, so now in addition to teaching me the proper way to behave in general, you feel you have the right to critique who I'm intimate with? Awfully assertive, aren't we?"
Still, he wasn't the type to get bent out of shape at such a question, especially not when he'd answered similar questions. "But just to assuage that burning curiousity/sense of possession or whatever, I'm not that altruistic. I mean, I won't rape mares that aren't interested, but I have to be interested as well. Said mares have to attract me, and they usually have to interest me as well. Unlike my dad, I'm not of the mindset that everyone is attractive to me at one time or another, nor do I see it as my civic duty to sleep with marekind as a group. But usually if I like talking to a mare, I'll like being intimate with her. It's just the way things are."
Quirking an eyebrow, he gave the mare an amused look. "So, are you less potentially disappointed now? Or has my cynical view on the fleshy pleasures of life made you even more appalled?" Not that it would matter to him regardless; everyone had their own opinions, and mares he'd been interested in had done everything from giving in to kicking him and everything in between. He was used to a gamut of reactions, nothing seemed new.

"You realize, that I did grow up with many different races, since I am my fathers daughter." With an apparent sigh, she changed her expression into a silly grin quickly after. "He would let all kinds of mares chase him all day, and it didn't really bother me back then mainly because I didn't understand it." The females Ariston was with didn't have an effect on her anyhow, and she was always told to go run off and play or something. Her father was a trickster alright, and she really had no idea when she was a filly.
"Well I wouldn't say I was critiquing.." she stopped herself, and lowered her brows. His answer wasn't all that surprising, he did have that 'nice guy' thing going on. "I was just curious. I understand that the way I asked that was very forceful, but I meant no harm. I just meant that I wouldn't want to see you with a mare that was ugly or something." the comment seemed to make sense when she thought about it in her head, but after stating such to Antony, she felt very stupid for some reason.
"I don't understand how that would make me appalled, Antony. You do your own thing, haven't I already commented enough that I respect that?" And, she also wanted to BE like that some day. Before continuing, she shrugged her shoulders casually, "Even so, I still can't see you being around all different types of mares. Doesn't it get confusing, to deal with so many personalities? Eh, I think I am over-analyzing this all too much."
She walked a few steps away from him, and led one of her wings along a low branch. "So, am I to assume that you have no attraction to Kalonas, then?" Still keeping her eyes away from him, she swept herself along the trees and acted unaffected by her own question. It had always picked at her mind, if she was the reasoning for him hating on Kalonas. She knew that his mother was Izusa, but besides that, she was still unaware of his personal dilemmas.

"Point." It was easy to forget that she would have been exposed to a similar sort of upbringing that he himself had, having a father of similar appetites to his own. That was probably more of a reflection on their more recent meeting than anything else, though, and her current 'alignment' with the kalona. And she WAS a kalona, born and...well, not raised; more like born and evolved. Born and influenced? Whatever the semantics, that was the way things were.
"And your concern on my behalf is appreciated; I assure you that all mares I screw have passed my own personal set of standards. You might not agree with them, but they work for me. And your explanation is accepted, at least, if not understood."
To put it mildly. In spite of her attempt at clarification, there was something about Loveless' current behavior that didn't seem 'right'. And this wasn't 'right' in terms of 'different from before', this was 'right' in terms of...something felt off. If he didn't know better, he would swear that she was jealous!
Though he had to set the record straight on one thing. "Actually, with me there ISN"T a lot of difference in personality. Just because I like a mare's body doesn't mean that I'll like talking to her, and I'm not so jaded that I'll put up with a mare I can't talk to for the sake of a bit of enjoyment. If I don't get along with someone, if I can't laugh and feel at ease with her, then I don't ask. It's as simple as that. Besides, even though I don't really follow or understand the concept of 'love' in the sense of exclusivity, I like to think that the mare likes me for me a bit as well; otherwise performance anxiety or other issues can crop up, and I'd much rather be able to enjoy myself. Besides, as you can probably conclude from this little diatribe I'm not quite as frequently companioned as either of our fathers. Finding a mare I like the company of that's also willing to have casual sex is a lot harder than one might think."
But now he was really getting long-winded, and he broke off with a self-deprecating laugh. "Good thing I'm not the sensitive type, or this could all be great blackmail fodder later." If she was of a mind to blackmail him, and had the right contacts that such blackmail would work. But then, who'd be interested in something that was such an accepted fact?
"And now you've gotten to see my truly devastating personal attack: the overdrawn explanation." Grinning, Antony tossed his head, his mane having once more managed to obscure his eyes as a result of his long-windedness and gestural demonstrativeness. A terrible habit, that. Having dealt with that, though, he was free to once more get serious in addressing her final question.
And he WAS serious, his pale eyes thoughful, as he finally spoke. "I would say that there's no lack of physical attraction, when all's said and sifted, Lessy. In their own way, kalona mares are quite beautiful. But like I said, there has to be a personal connection, and when the first reaction of so many kalona to the sight of a half-breed is to kill on sight, well...it doesn't lend that much incentive to the idea of so much as trying to talk to one. I like my skin non-perforated."
That was why he'd gone through all of the chaos of this past summer, after all; to prevent just that from happening. But before he started to think too hard on that topic, Antony turned and eyed Loveless, noting the way she'd moved off and was now poking along through the trees. Once again he was reminded of a more traditional encounter, and thought how very different she seemed from before when she'd been so very very cold. This time, he felt that he could actually TALK.
And that was what provoked him to laugh, realizing how that logically would sound in context with the rest of their conversation. Without really mulling over how it would be taken or what the reaction might be, therefor, he simply aired those thoughts aloud, strolling slightly down the bank of the river. "But there are exceptions. Like, as I said before, you're pretty hot. Even when you were absolutely bitchy, you were hot. But as I felt no desire to talk to you and wanted to leave your presence as fast as possible, getting intimate with you never even crossed my mind. This is the way it usually is with me and kalona mares. HOWEVER."
Here Tony paused, stopping on the bank with one foreleg resting lightly on a large rock, rolling it slightly underfoot as he chuckled ruefully at the mare. "You're still hot, we're having an active and lively conversation, and you're NOT threatening my life or the lives of those I care about. Consequently, I could totally be on board with the idea of having sex with you. It's all in the mindsets, understand? Race doesn't matter, as long as the connection is there."
Undoubtably that was just what every girl wanted to hear...but that was Tony for you. Honesty was the best policy, even if it WAS crass and tactless and a few other things besides. As long as he didn't mean to offend, there was nothing for him to regret. Besides, now he could actually defend himself from irate mares, and that was good.

As Loveless listened, she thought about the truth behind Antony's words. As much as it was easy to talk about it, there were many that growled at the idea of casual sex. Loveless herself found nothing wrong with it, since the idea of 'waiting for true love' was an awkward one for her. Plus, she had grown up around a father who did such, and she didn't think that her life was affected negatively because of it.
"Well, as usual, you seem like you have a handle on all of this very well." It also looked as though he had thought about the issue of sex a lot, since he was so skilled at explaining himself. "Don't you think you are over-thinking it too much? I mean, its just sex."
Molding her mouth into a suave smile herself, she looked towards the stallion with a happy grin. There was a joking'ness in her tone, but she did mean some truth behind it. Its not like Loveless was an expect, but she figured he would get a laugh out of her 'Its just sex" comment.
And once again, her ears twitched about as she heard Antony open up almost TOO much. "Well, I'll admit I am flattered that you would say such about me," with a slight pause, she dragged her tail across the ground lazily, "but what makes you think I am up for that sort of thing? I know I have sat her showing interest in the conversation of sex, but I guess I am shocked to hear you so openly say such a thing to me. If anything, I thought there were tricks and suave movements that a stallion would use, not just "Your hot, I would totally do you" sort of thing." Well that just made it BORING!
Maybe growing up around her father WAS a bad thing, since she saw a professional handle everything from a females emotional concern to their, well, physical concerns as well. "Goodness, this is silly." she then said, while turning back to Antony. THAT sort of thing would probably be idiotic for her to do with him, but for some reason, she couldn't stop thinking about it.
It must have seriously been that hormonal thing that Antony was talking about, but what if this conversation was just pressuring her? Hm, that didn't seem to make sense in itself, since she was so openly understanding everything Antony was saying...
"Well, even if we are having a connection, and even if you find me 'hot', I don't know if I like your standards of how sex should be handled. There is more to you then I find 'hot', I actually find you intelligent, handsome, confident. I am not basing my claims on anything I have done in the past." Maybe she was... disappointed in his response to her? Loveless was nothing more then something attractive it seemed. "I find you as much more worthy then the word 'hot', so forgive me if I am grouchy in that sense." Yes, grouchy was a way to look at it, but she did sneer at the thought of her only being used for casual sex.
But wait, did that make her an over-thinker as well? She really was starting to confuse herself! She laughed to herself, and shook her head before eying the stallion carefully.

"Let my father hear the phrase 'just sex' and I think it might give him a heart attack. Perhaps this is a bit of focus on my part, but environmental factors have to be considered when you're talking about this sort of thing. My thoughts on the matter, that is."
After all, he and his siblings had hardly had a converntional education on the subject, with Guilian giving them talks on the subject starting shortly after they emerged from their baskets and progressing up through actual demonstrations as they aged. All things considered, Antony doubted any other children out there had had such a thorough sex-education, unless it was maybe his new half-siblings. With a father who lived and breathed for sex, it was hard to truly relegate the activity to the sidelines. Though he'd agree that he lacked finesse, as her comments proved.
Sauntering over towards Loveless once more, Antony gave the mare a chuckle. "Well, whoever said anything about your inclinations? It might have been a bit caddish of me, but we're talking in the realm of the hypothetical, right? I think the question was if I'd be attracted to a kalona, and you're a good example of a 'yes'. That said, I was probably a bit too crass there, even for me." That said, Tony gave Loveless a bow as a way of apology, straightening up at the same time she commented on the silliness of it all. That was something else he could agree on.
"Yeah, well, the way I look at it you have a few ways to consider sex: a way of life, a 'consumation of love', an act of pleasure, or a means of procreation. All of them are relevant, but the way you treat it depends on your mindset. I follow the third path, and I never had the interest or even the ability to do all those suave things. It's dishonest, in a way, to lead a mare along if you're ultimately only interested in sex. I'm interested in mares for conversation, so I don't want to taint that with any attempts at seduction; but if I want intimacy, I'd rather that intention not slip by the wayside. I could always get your agreement to sex and THEN try and seduce you, but my fragile ego would likely crumble if I just tried the seduction and was shot down."
Ok, this was just getting silly, but it was a good sort of silly. Antony's ego was about as fragile as a boulder, after all...he just didn't have the patience. "But then, that's me. You obviously have your own set of standards and behaviors you follow, and that's good."
However, even considering the vein of this conversation he wasn't expecting her seemingly sudden assessment of him as a stallion. Light and teasing as the conversation had been, to have it suddenly turn into something more tangible, more serious, was a new twist.
She LIKED him? As in, attraction like? Good god, where had that come from?
That couldn't be right. Frowning slightly, Antony reached out with a wing and tilted Loveless' face back towards him, trying to make some sense out of her expression. It would make more sense, all things considered, if she was just teasing...
But somehow, he didn't think that was the case. Suddenly those prodding questions made sense; she was feeling him out! Unreal.
Realizing that, Antony's face broke into a wide, amused grin, and he gave Loveless a truly 'I know what you're thinking' look. This was truly a new one, to put it mildly. "Well, Lessy, I'm flattered to know you think so, especially considering our differences in the past. That said, I am what I am and I don't see sex as something to get all up in arms about. But I suppose if you wanted, I could try my hand at seducing you; if nothing else, you might get a good laugh at my complete lack of finesse."
At this point, it was difficult for Antony himself to say whether he was joking or serious. Up until that moment, he'd looked on Loveless as an example, the hypothetical kalona. He still didn't trust her...well, that was the idea, anyway. One good conversation didn't erase issues as big as theirs. He'd known she was attractive all along, known that even when she was homicidal...but the idea of being with her was a new one. And strangely enough, it was a GOOD new one. Really, it might be a very enjoyable experience...
Ok, that was just getting weird. To say nothing of borderline bizarre. But whatever, that seemed commonplace these days >>
