Sitting on a comfortable tuft of various plant life, Karawan watched as the other Viziers walked into the sanctum, taking their various seats. The Grand Vizier of Firecraft sent up a large column of flames which he surmounted by riding atop a giant fireball in the shape of a burning chariot. The Watercrafter, Giant Waves, which formed a cyclone around the Firecrafter's column, quenching the fire and sending the Vizier crashing to the ground. They continued like this for nearly twenty minutes, ending finally by a lotus blossom from which 1000 venomous cactii exploded, their needles piercing each Grand Vizier's defenses. The Woodcrafters cheered and sent up blossoms and palm branches, the Grand Vizier of Woodcraft curing the other vizier's with a powerful antidote. As the custom comanded a large canopy of trees and plantlife filled the chamber, a large rotunda with the sign of the five elements in five equidistant points along the top, forming a bejeweled pentagram with the High Mage's Sign in the center.

Karawan was seated to the side of his Master Rasui Ketmet, Leader of the Twelve Agricults, the administrators of the farming districts. Master Ketmet was a dear friend of Karawan's father, and helped to arrange his noviciate. While the others settled down, the Grand Vizier's standing in front of each elemental sign at the top of the rotunda, began to work their magiks, forming an actual pentagram, each element interacting with the other to form a perfect causality.

"Master Ketmet, your emminence" Karawan began to speak, "When are we going to make our presentation to his Holiness?"

"Once the Sacrement of the Causality is finished, each Fifth will be asked to make their speeches. You are too young to speak on the floor yet, but I will present it as your discovery. How long have you been able to..."

"I learned the method of Arborermancy while I was studying abroad in Olympus. It's still quite experimental, but it was confirmed by our spies abroad, was it not."

"That I do not know. The Grand Vizier of Metalcraft has a poor relationship with our Vizier. They've been rivals since their academy days and since his Grace heads the Cult of Agents Provocateurs, we haven't had the opportunity to confirm it. In fact, Master Oueli believes that the Metalcrafter will stake the discovery as his own."

The High Mage Osiris entered the chamber, bowing first to the summoned wood, and then to the Supreme Causality at the top of the chamber. The Grand Viziers lowered the star directly above the High Mage's head when he began speaking.

"My Advisers, Welcome."

Karawan was speechless. The august majesty of the High Mage always shut him up. He shifted the tufts he was sitting on so he could see him better, as the High Mage continued to speak.

((Shouldn't Duat know about the Valhalla Business too? I didn't want to RP the High Mage w/o Permission, so I stopped there. Let me know where to go from here. Thanks!))

((Go ahead and let Duat know about Valhalla's intentions, and feel free to create a personality for people I haven't written about. Even though I created this thread, this won't be any fun for me if I can't work around what other people write. That's what makes it fun. 3nodding ))

Arilam was lost in his thoughts while he finished a status check on his airbike, the Ninth Gate, thinking about the mission he had been assigned. Such an impossible mission, and he had only been in the Valhalla area once, on a smuggling mission. But he had not seen much of the country at all, and only knew the layout of the capital by word of ear. 'This will be an incredible pain in the butt,' he thought.

As he straddled his bike's seat, raising the windshield and lowering his goggles, he thought of how he was going to find out the location of this "weapon," much less how to get to it, steal it, and get back to Olympus with it in tow, without the hassle of dying or destroying it in the process.

As the magic wind orbs began to glow and the engine roared to life, the gate of the docking bay opened and a warship roared past him through the gates, into an brilliant gunfight. 'This isn't good,' Arilam thought, grappling for his intercom, and suddenly hearing the constant chatter and status reports of ships under fire.

Arilam smiled and turned the bike toward the open gate, siphoning maximum energy from the wind orbs. 'I'd like to help fight these bastards, but I have to get through this and on to Valhalla.' Looking back up at the eruptions sparkling through the clouds, he laughed aloud. "Lucky me! I always think of my best ideas when I'm trying to keep myself alive." Gunning the ignition, his bike shot down the runway, alongside and past the warship taking off, launching off the runway into open air, and setting off toward Valhalla's coordinates. "This is gonna be fun."

Robert's thoughts were unusually similar to Arilam's; his thoughts were focused on business. The first thing to look for would be the cocky king making an immediate move with the weapon. A fleet, perhaps; if so, for dramatic effect, he might try to put it on the grandest ship in his fleet. If not, if he were to use it cleverly, it would make sense to keep it safeguarded at home, at the biggest fortress. The man wouldn't hide it properly; from what Robert knew, he was a bit power crazy.

Slowly the Vulture's thin, almost needle-like frame pulled itself away from the dock, the air orbs and the props beginning to propel it away. He caught something about trouble, but there wasn't enough time to take care of it. Hopefully whoever it was would be able to break away fast enough to get into the fight.

This is going to be interesting, was all that Robert could think as his airship pulled away from the ground and soared into the skies.

The crowd hushed as the High Mage spoke as well.

"My Advisers, Welcome.
The Moon is the fourth house,
the Waters have begun,
our Lake has given me its annual whispers,
and the Causality is speaking to me:
Our World is in Danger."

He spoke in cryptic poetry, but at his last line, a great clamor spread in the sanctum. Karawan could tell that others knew about the Valhallan Star, at least that's what he and Master Ketmet were calling it, a great engine that in Karawan's Arborermancic dreams lead him to believe would destroy the world. The High Mage spread his hands before the Vizieriat, and everyone came to a hush.

"Dear Advisers, please. I know each of the Fifths have given providence to what the Great Word has told me. It originates in the House of Wood, as displayed here today by its conquering of the other Fifths. A young Noviciate has dreamt a dream, which our holy lake has given providence to, as well as the Causality above me. Karawan, Son of Adhimun, Sons of the Great Wooden House of Eramhin, step here, before me, and give me Wood's word."

His master stared at him as Karawan's eyes bulged out. He stood there, the eyes of the whole Vizieriat staring back at him.

"Well don't just sit there boy. Go on!"

Karawan stood, the plants beneath him wilting down into the floor, his two disks flying around him rapidly and erratically, showing his nervousness. The other Fifth's looked irritated at his presence: A novice! Addressing the high mage! Preposterous! Their eyes were censuring and made Karawan anxious.

The High Mage held his hand up and the causality was consumed by Wood, showing that their Fifth was in control of the floor.

"Well Speak Boy! Tell me the Green Word."

Karawan stuttered and began to speak.

"I...I beseech you, my liege, to please allow my master to speak in my stead. I am too humble and low to be directly addressed by your holiness."

There were murmurs all around.

"Do you deny my authority, Youngling of the House of Eramhin?"

"No, I do not."

"Then Speak. Speak your words."

Karawan began again. "Lord Osiris, most Holy, I was in trance looking into the Wood, to see if Its Majesty could tell me any wonders."

"Heresy!" A member of the Fifth of Water cried, accompanied by clamors from other parts of the room.

"Silence!" There was a hush. "Continue Karawan."

"Yes My Lord. Lord Holiness, there in the Wood, although experimental and of Olympian origin, the Wood gave me a vision. I saw Metal, under the sign of Valhalla, and in the Metal was a Star. The Valhallan King placed his hand into the star and caused it to grow larger. He threw it out and it hit Olympia, and then..." he paused, a fear creeping up his neck..."He threw it into our lake, and it was consumed in fire and dried up!"

A great roar consumed the chamber as viziers everywhere jumped up and down in dismay and rebuke for Karawan's words.

{{not complaining just making sure it's not manditor, cause I can write if I want [can't spell though apologies for that sweatdrop ] Just wanted to make sure if we could go small posts if we didn't have the time or willpower to deal out a novel xd }}

The White hawk soared straight up into the sky, spinning and twirling as she went. Small explosions rattled her hull as she clawed for the skies above. A warning blared in the cockpit and a small screen came into focus, displaying the rear of the small airship. A large craft was barring down on Rannek's ship, guns aligning to take the Hawk from flight.

"It's to damn early for all this." Rannek cursed as his hand pounded the dash and pushed the throttle.

Cutting upward the sails spread wide and caused the ship to slow and loop in a tight arc. The Hawk's flight took it behind the enemy ship, Rannek smirked as his hand dramatic pressed down on the button to launch a small pod-missle. The missle screamed from it's hatch and spun in the air, the foils keeping it's flight erratic enough to avoid any incoming fire. The projectile slammed home into the rear engine of the ship and it slowing its flight; Rannek leaping from his seat in triumph.

There was a shudder that coursed up Tenkyuu's spin as he looked at the ship he had struck. It had stalled, engines flaring to try and keep it steady as it began to fall. The ship was now falling straight toward the White Hawk, a split second was all he had to turn his ship far enough to get it out of the fall-line of the other aircraft. There was scrapping as the other craft clipped the Hawk in it's fall. Rannek brought his airship out of it's climb high above the massive fire fight below. The other ship however fell directly into the cross-fire. The young man said a slight pray as he watched the other ship burst into flames, turning the early morning sky in to mid-afternoon.

That explosion seemed to halt the fighting for a moment, one-side recovered quickly and began to take the upperhand. Rannek punched in a few keys and a small hatch opened in the bottom of his ship, a small camera zoomed in on the unknow ships. They displayed the insignias of Duat, Valhalla and some unknow insignias; most likely mercenaries.

"What the hell is going on? Did everyone decided to go to war without telling me or what?" Rannek muttered watching the dog-fights unfold, "Something just doesn't feel right."

He caught sight of something smaller on the screen; a air-bike weaving low to the ground. Rannek gripped his seat tight and realized the guy was going to be blown from the sky with all the fire-power flying around. His ship's sails folded and she dropped, spinning again to avoid the cross-fire. Sails spread like great white wings as it came up beside the airbike.

"Oy yo you wanna dock with, less chance you'll get smoked by a random missile?" Rannek said through his com-system, hoping the biker would get his signal; though unsure where this boubt of kindess was spawning from.

Arilam craned his neck upward to see an Olympian ship decending toward him. Adjusting the intercom to short-range to avoid interception, he raised the mike and said, "Sorry, but I don't have the time to stick around. I'm on orders from the Queen to get to Valhalla. The less time I spend in this battlefield, the better. Besides, I need time to think," he said, swerving to the his left as a spray of bullets grazed his flank.

Spotting the incoming foe, twenty yards on his tail, Arilam's fingers became a flurry as they dances across the controls. He yanked on the handlebars, lifting the nose of the craft above the horizontal, while opening the glide wings. The wind brought the bike to a near stop, and the enemy shot by, a bright Duat symbol plastered on the side. Folding the wings, Arilam pushed the throttle, tailing the craft with guns blazing. Bullets coated the wind orb generaters, detonating the craft in a fury of flames and smoke.

Realigning himself, he swooped down to the cockpit of the ship next to him, labeled the White Hawk. He looked directly at the man sitting at the hull and said over the intercom, "As much as I'd love to knock these trainees out of Olympian airspace, I'm afraid I can't afford the time."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Olympus' main hanger, the Queen of the nation stormed across the platforms. "WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING!?"

"A surprise airship attack from Duat and Valhalla, ma'am. It seems they've both decided to attack simultaneously?" "A surprise AIRSHIP attack? We're the leading airship manufacturers in the world! How'd they get a jump on us?"

"We're not sure ma'am, but the enemy ships aren't attacking each other."

"A truce between those two nations? Impossible... Bah! I don't have time to think about this!" The Queen growled and grabbed the intercom. "Attention all hands! Launch the Poseidon and the rest of the defensive fleet! Wipe those fools out of the sky! Show them the power of the Olympian airship fleet!"

((Part 1 of a 2 part post))

Amidst the commotion of the Vizieriat, Karawan nervously looked around. The Grand Viziers had broken the Causality, the other elemental magiks devouring the Wood in protest. The Wood Grand Vizier lept to the floor from the top of the rotunda, diving the four hundred or so feet, and landing elegantly on a lotus blossom. He summoned Master Ketmet with a look and as Master Ketmet walked to where they were standing the Wood Grand Vizier, Master Oueli, surrounded them with an impenetrable wood.

"What is all of this then? Ketmet? I thought we agreed—"

"Master Oueli, I did not tell any of this to his Holiness during the Audience of the Twelve Agricults. Besides, now that the rains are here, we have put our meetings on Hiatus. The Harvest Board would know more about this than I."

Master Oueli looked at Karawan and Karawan could feel his eyes burrowing deep into his head.

"My Youngling, what have you done?"

Before Karawan could speak, Master Ketmet defended him.

"Please Jemnon, this is my apprentice. Any fault of his is a fault of mine."

"Sirs..." Karawan spoke up and they both turned to face him. "I asked Professor Yeral to speak to the Cult of Agents Provocateurs on our behalf...to establish the validity of my claim."

"That blasted Metalcrafter!" He meant the Grand Vizeir of Metalcraft. "He has had it in for us since we were named the Favored Fifth." Master Oureli ponded a second admist the growing noise of the angry viziers outside the forest surrounding them. "Alright. This is what we're going to do. I want you two to teleport and hide in the Southern Wood while I converse with the rest of the Vizieriat. You'll be able to read everything we say by reading the pine needles."

Karawan's eyes were full of tears. He hadn't meant to start a war amongst the Fifths, but to stop a war with Valhalla. Master Ketmet held patted his shoulder and pointed him toward a glowing Spruce.

"Survival Now, life as we can manage it. I've never been good at reading the needles, so you'll need to interpret for the both of us."

Karawan nodded and they both touched the Spruce tree, glowing a luminescant green, and vanishing, behind them the angry sounds of a government ready for war.

"Hey man I don't care what they do to each other I'm just trying to get out of here. My ships got alot more speed on your little bike and I'm offering to get you outta this battle field." Rannek shouted back, his ship rocking from a missile explosion nearby, he manage to regain control before smacking into the biker.

The guys words finally registered in Rannek's head, taking only a moment before making up his mind. He went right below the biker, only a few meters above some of the higher buildings of the city. The Landing hatch pulled open and the ship justled alittle from the swift change in air-preasure. Rannek adjust the com so it was a direct link to the biker now right above him.

"Look I can tell your probably a merc or something; which only raises more questions about why you want in Valhalla." Rannek took a moment to serve around a igher building, catching the shocked looks of the people from inside the windows as he passed.

"I've got business in Valhalla myself and two traders blend better then a merc on a bike." Rannek was shaking his head as he spoke, the whole thing felt off.

This attack didn't make any damn sense, there was tension between the countries but it wasn't nearly close to war or had he missed something. Tenkyuu mind was whirling around every possible scenario he could think of. Why were their merc ships in with the Duat and Valhalla ships? What were they doing taking down a side hanger in the lower end of the city? It made more sense to attack the central Olympian fleet-station; take down as many ships as possible before they could launch. That only brought him back to the question of; why here?

Karawan nodded and they both touched the Spruce tree, glowing a luminescant green, and vanishing, behind them the angry sounds of a government ready for war.

Ketmet and Karawan stood close together as they leapt down from a Spruce branch, falling elegantly on a soaked bed of leaves. The rain was heavy even in this part of the dense forest and soon Ketmet was conjuring broadleafed ferns to cover them.

The heavy raindrops flew in large kerplunks on the fern leaves, Karawans hair matted down from the few moments in the rain. He spread the soaked leaves on the forest floor aside to find a lush underlayer of wet-brown pine needles. Letting vines grow out of his fingers, fringe like, he touched the Spruce tree, establishing a magical conduit between the Vizierat and their current location. He began to read what the leaves said outloud.

It was us...

What have you done? The Honorable Fifth of Wood does not honor the decision of the Metalcrafters...

My Children please...

The Water Fifth does not acknowledge the Metalcrafters as well and their willingness to go to war...

Our Spies have told us that both Valhalla and Olympia are against us, that they want our water and our agriculture...

The Twelve Agricults does not acknowledge this...

Neither does the Harvest Board...

My Children!...

A Parting of the Ways! A Parting of the Ways!...

Karawan brought back the vines. He fell to the ground, sensing impending doom.

"Master, what have I done?"

He paused and thought a second before responding. "Karawan, these are troubling times. Do you understand what all of that means? Duat has attacked two nations. Duat is an aggressor in this war. We are at war Karawan. You are not the cause of this. The Metalcrafters have...have gone against what our High Mage teaches. They have used weaponry."

"Well, what do we do?"

"Where did you learn Arborermancy?"

"In Olympia....in their Royal Academy."

"Then that's where you're going. Do you know any trees there?"

"Nearly all of them. What do you mean I'm going to Olym—"

"We haven't much time Karawan. I will go back to the Vizieriat and explain this to Master Oueril. Get to a tree you know there and stay with your Aunt. Perhaps we can stop a war between Olympia and Duat so we can concentrate on the true aggressor. Send Word as soon as you can."

Karawan saw his master enter a Spruce, and searched for the nearest Sakura.

((whew long posts! My contention here is that the Metalers on Duat sent the warcraft attacking Olympia, not Duat proper. Let me know if I'm overstepping my bounds. I want to get Karawan interacting with other characters [i.e. not controled by me!] so let me know if you see an in for him. Thanks!))
