Nodding again with his foolishly bright grin, Nahuel created the impression that this was a very important matter to him- he wouldn't let her down. "Of course I will! I'll make you happy Missus Roxanne! Every day!" And he would, or at least try his damndest to do so.
He smiled again as she laughed- he liked the merry sound of her laughter. It was like bells tinkling... was it like that for all mares, or just her? Nahuel wasn't sure, but he wasn't about to question it, either. A smaller, bashful smile adorned his maw as he shifted sheepishly at her question. "Actually, I was hoping to find you. I thought I'd pick some flowers for you and wait until you came back." He didn't say that he'd been lonely without her company, but it hung in the air, unspoken.

Smiling, she nodded her head. Well, if he wanted to do this she wasn't about to stop him. It would be nice to get flowers every day. It was like some fairytale story...or something to that extent.
Roxy fluttered her wings momentarily again as her smile changed into a tiny smirk. Her lips pursed together as her head tilted slightly. "Did you miss me? Or were you just wanting to tell me something? I'm not sure why anyone would want to wait around for little 'ol me."

His foolish grin coming back with a flourish at her nod, his tail almost wagged back and forth behind him in his happiness. He would most definitely make her happy, and find flowers for her every day!
He started lightly at her question, cerulean hues widening in an almost comical fashion. How did she know? Did she read his mind or something? No, that was just foolish... but was he that easy to read? He hoped not, otherwise she might find out... he swallowed nervously.
At the last statement, he tilted his head to one side, blinking, uncomprehending. "Why wouldn't anyone want to wait around for you? You're my best friend! You're smart and fun, you don't tease be for being a big oaf..." he offered a rueful grin here. "Even if you have reminded me of it a couple times. There's no one else I'd rather be with!"
Eyes widening at the sound of his own admission, he abruptly clamped his mouth shut, hoping that she wouldn't catch the double meaning of that proclamation.

Batting her eyelashes playfully, she kept her head at a tilt. "But I'm sure you have other friends that you'd like to spend time with? Or am I just that special to have you all to myself?" Her tail gave a slow flick back and forth as she took a step closer to him. Giving him a curious look. In the back of her mind, it felt like there was something else there. But she wasn't all too sure on exactly what it was.
"No one else? So what exactly are you saying, Nahuel?" She'd weasel the answers out of him somehow. Curious as to how it seemed that he was more focused on her than anyone else had ever been and why. Sure he had a little list going, but. Roxy nibbled on her bottom lip for a moment. That curious look still lingering in her eyes.

"Actually, I really don't have any other friends. Just you and my brother and sister and parents." He paused for a moment, thinking this over before he spoke again. "But I suppose they don't really count, since they're family, and I don't see them that much anyway." He grinned brightly at the last question, giving her a cheery nod. "So yeah, you are that special Missus Roxanne, you get me all to yourself!"
As she asked the question he'd been dreading, all the color drained from his face- under his fur, anyway- and he scrambled to find an answer that would appease her and not reveal his secret. What choice was there? Surely she wouldn't be pleased to know that he had developed feelings beyond that of a friend for her... after all, he was just a big, clumsy oaf- she'd said it herself not too long ago. She deserved much better than he could ever give her, and he didn't want to drive her away.
Offering another smile, although this one was somewhat forced, a bit of the light in his cerulean irises dimmed as he provided her with a half-truth. "Like I said, you're my best friend, Missus Roxanne! I want to be your friend and hang out with you for a long time to come!"

Furrowing her eyebrows slightly she touched her nose to his. "You should really make some other friends you know. Or at least some aquaintences. That way you have some others to hang around when I'm not about." Pawing lightly at the ground, a bit of dirt stuck to the bottom of her hoof which she quickly dislodged. "Well then, I'm glad that I'm just that special."
The slight pause in his speaking raised her eyebrows just a bit. Again she felt there was something else, but for now she'd lay off the subject since he kept going in circles with it. Was he really that shy or just....innocent as a foal? Either way. "Well, we'll see how long that long time is. People drift apart after a while...."

"But I don't need any other friends. I have you." The naive statement had never spoken more about his true nature than it did now, a bright smile adorning his features once more, rather than the forced one. Her next statement, however, wiped the smile right off his face, and for the second time in the last few minutes, the blood drained from his face.
He paused a moment to take that in, cerulean hues widening in horror as he absorbed the meaning of her statement. Drift apart..? Did she mean she'd just... stop being his friend after a while? What would he do when that happened? He'd only known her for a short time, but he couldn't imagine life without her now... obviously it didn't go both ways, if she wasn't upset by the idea of them drifting away from one another. He opened and closed his mouth once, twice, trying to find words and failing.
After a moment, he finally found his voice, but he wasn't able to meet her eyes, instead looking at the dirt beneath his hooves. "It won't happen that way. At least not for me." His voice was quiet now, serious and soft. He was beginning to wonder if he should leave, lest he blurt out something he might regret.

The look of horror on his face made her even more curious. Although a bit worry on how he actually took that statement. Her eyebrows lifted slightly in concern.
Clearing her throat slightly, she smiled the best she could. Her voice a bit softer now than before. "What I mean is. I've seen some Soquili become great friends and then they just....tend to not be with each other as they did before. They find new things in their life but that doesn't mean they stop being friends. Its just not as strong as it was in the beginning..." Yea. She was sure that soothed his troubled mine.
Taking another step forward, even closer now, the nibbled on a bit of his mane. Giving it a few tugs before letting it go. "But. I don't think that would happen to us. So don't you worry about it."

Although most of his worries were abaited at her reassurances, there was still a small vestige of doubt that remained when she finished. Still, he smiled anyway, nodding his own ascent. It grew a bit when she tugged on his mane, azure irises regaining a bit of the light they'd had before, but there was still a small part of him that held doubt.
He was never more tempted to speak his feelings than he was right now... but what would that bring? He'd ruin their friendship, she'd leave him, and he'd be alone again. It wasn't worth the risk... the price was too high. Still... he wondered if there was any way to ascertain her own feelings.
"Missus Roxanne... um... have you ever been in love?" he knew the question was abrupt and most likely startling- he hoped she didn't deduce his reason for asking.

Tilting her head again for another time, she searched his face for a moment. Trying to figure out what exactly was going on in that head of his. Man, she'd probably get a strained neck or something if she continued to tilt her head this way.
Her wings gave a sudden twitch after a second as she contemplated an answer to his question. "I thought I was once. A long time ago. Why do you ask?" Roxy gave a subtle flick of her tail which rustled the grass and flowers on the ground behind her. It was something she rarely talked about and rather disliked discussing. But the subject was brought up and she didn't see much avoidance. And changing the subject might of been kind of rude. Nahuel already seemed to be in a volatile state, so doing such might of make things worse.

He offered a small smile, feeling his heart fall a bit, although he wasn't entirely sure why. What had he expected? Honestly, there was no good way for her to answer that question and be truthful. He noticed her observing him with a strange look and flushed a bit, shifting his weight slightly. He supposed he was acting a bit out of character, but he couldn't be bright and cheery all the time...
Shaking his head, he smiled, a forcibly cheery expression gracing his face once again. "Just curious, I suppose. What happened, if I may ask?" he knew he was probably pushing his luck- sooner or later, she would probably clam up and tell him to mind his own business... but he truly was curious. And perhaps the secret that she used to get over whoever she'd loved- or thought she'd loved before- could help him overcome his own problem.

"It was unrequited. He didn't turn out to be who I thought he was. But thats the past. I'm more focused on the future anyway. Not worth my time to worry about it really...." Roxanne's eyes lidded slightly as she turned her gaze out across the field. She fought with her mind to keep those past memories just that. In the past. It really was nothing to get upset about or fret for hours upon hours over.
So why was she thinking about it now?
Her eyes snapped back to him as she flashed him a small smile. "Why are you so curious? Are you trying to do some sort of history check on me?" The questions came once again. At least it kept her talking and her mind off of it for now.

"Oh..." he frowned a bit at this, and then nodded in understanding. He could relate to the first part, at least... "I'm sorry," and he was, for bringing it up and making her sad. That was the last thing he wanted to do, truly, but he wasn't sure how he was going to get through this by himself. "I didn't mean to make you sad..."
He smiled back at her at the smile she gave him, shifting uncomfortably as he tried to think of a believable excuse. "Well... like I said, you're my best friend... I want to know more about you. You already know all there is to know about me, after all. So... um..." he coughed. "Nevermind."

Her smile grew as she nipped at his cheek lightly. "Don't worry about it. Its fine really. I've gotten over it a looooooong time ago." Roxy's tail flicked more forceful now as she turned a bit, taking a few steps away from him before glancing over her shoulder. Motioning for him to follow with a slight jerk of her head.
"Theres quite a bit about me that you probably don't want to know. And I'm sure theres more to you than just what you've told me. Some little dirty secrets that linger in your mind." The flutter's smile turned into a devilish grin as she started to walk slowly. Letting him take the time to catch on and keep up with her. Though, her legs were shorter so she probably covered less ground with her smaller strides than he.

His shoulders drained of a bit of tension as he relaxed, relieved he hadn't hurt her or made her mad at him with his questioning. He wasn't sure how well his curiosity would be received... especially considering the line in which it was aimed towards. He grinned as she nipped at him, nipping back at her ear in return as he straightened to follow her.
He froze abruptly at her next inquiry, hurrying to continue walking as if it hadn't affected him, but he was relatively sure he'd already given himself away. "S-secrets? Ah... I don't know what you mean," he lied with what he hoped was an innocent grin, shifting his weight back and forth nervously. What could he do if she asked more about it? He was a terrible liar- even he knew that, and he couldn't avoid the subject forever... he supposed that it required a bit more thinking, perhaps a discussion with his mother.
