((Sorry, icky shortness again but my muse is dying xX))
Shade soared above the wondering mare cackling in delight, the fool fancied herself safe she wasn't even heading Shade's advice to keep an eye on her surroundings. "I pity the little fool but soon she'll learn..." she banked away into the sun and made a huge circle around where the mare was walking.
She continued to watch the filly bellow her as the chilling wind whipped her mane into a blue inferno upon her neck. She suddenly banked lower. Now flying just above the tree lines but still out of sight she began to sing.
Her voice carried, and the song was eerie in it's slow deep melodic tones that seemed to be like the chime of a death bell.

Sky blue eyes widened and Amoena's jaw dropped in shock. That song. That haunting noise wasn't coming from her and it certainly wasn't coming from the wind. She turned her head slowly to look behind her but could hardly see from the shaking.
There was nothing there. Turning about rather gracelessly due to her bum leg she studied the area closer. No one was there. She had been so sure the she would find that freak of nature standing behind singing her head off slithering close like a snake with legs. But, if it wasn't that demon mare, then what was it?
((okay...guilty of...how you put it 'icky shortness' too ^^;; ))

Shade kept singing thoroughly enjoying her song, she flew in wide lazy circles around Amoena as she walked so far bellow.
Shade's shadow cast over the female like the angle of death as she flew over her song rising in tempo. Her tail cracked like a whip behind her as she dipped lower spiraling tighter and tighter. Her wings folded down tight to her back she spiraled downwards tighter and tighter.
Her speed picked up till her wings snapped open and she whizzed over the tree line cackling loudly in a harsh voice.
"Run my puppet run!" her voice echoed bouncing off trees and branches to sound like it was coming from every direction.

Amoena could have sworn her heart stopped as she fell into the demon's shadow and the temperature dropped. The sky. Why hadn't she checked the sky? Her head snapped upward sharply to see the crazy mare spiraling towards her. A cold chill settled in her as the feeling of unavoidable death wrapped around her body. The white maned mare shut her eyes feeling that she would never open them again. She heard the sounds of the leathery wings opening but never felt the impact she had been expecting.
What had happened?
She opened her eyes quickly to try and locate the mare again. The vicious laughing stopped her search though and she quickly pinpointed the black monster just above the treeline. She was tempted to shout back at the other that she wasn't any one's puppet but didn't want to know what that would result in.
Her pride had been her downfall before, that along with her stubborn nature. She didn't want it to be the death of her. Feeling utterly ashamed and disgraced with herself she turned into the trees and ran as best she could. Her injuries slowing her down significantly.

Shade barrel rolled letting the scent of fear and blood mingle in her nostrils like the most intoxicating of wines. With aloud laugh she flew lazily after Amoena, she would let the mare out of her sight now this one was hers and she'd make sure that the bright blue filly never tread through teh darkness again. Shade's laughed echoed again and she swooped low before arching back up "run puppet! You'll never escape me, I'll haunt your every waking moment and scare you to death in the darkness." Her words were taunting and meant to be true, but also to scare Amoena.
Shade banked upwards her laugh trailing away, but if Amoena was fooled into thinking the demon was gone again she deserved the strike that may have been coming next.
Shade flew high overhead out of sight, but not out of mind. She could have flown like this for hours running the mare till she collapsed in a heap, but that would have been no fun.
Shade knew very well it would be time to end this soon, very very soon.

The bright blue mare took one quick, clumsy step after another as she fought her way through the trees. The manic laughter echoed through her ears even when it was heard by no other creature. Every muscle in her back leg screamed for her to stop and rest while the rest of them urged her forward. The demon's words swirled about her mind like a haunting lullaby and only served to make her move faster.
Her breath came out in sharp gasps as she stumbled over a fallen log and fell to her knees. Bright blue eyes shot directly to the sky the moment she fell. She had already been fooled twice by this mare, once into thinking she was docile and again into thinking she was gone, never again.
Keeping her eyes glued to the sky Amoena pushed herself back onto her feet. She wouldn't be safe until she was well out of this forest and, if she remembered correctly, it was a long way out. It was time for a change in tactics.
She moved faster forward then she had before with a new purpose. She needed something to defend herself with. A spike like Xantir's or a horn like a uni's. That, or somewhere small enough for her to fit where that black witch couldn't follow her. Unfortunately she couldn't seem to find anything of use.

Shade let out a loud cackle as she suddenly banked again, it was time to end her little game for the night. Her wings folded to her sides and she shoot to earth like a falling star. The world flew by her in a burr but Shade was honed in on one point moving steadily bellow her.
A blood curdling screech escaped the demon mare as she landed in front of Amoena her lips pulling back into a ferocious and psychotic grin revealing the pearly fangs.
"come on pet, lets end our little game.." she slowly licked her lips and stalked forward her body swaying back and forth as her muscles tensed bulging up beneath her ebony coat. Her tail flicked behind her, but it was such a slight movement that one couldn't really tell she was moving it any.
"Oh yes, it's very much time to finish." Her speed picked up, gradually at first then she broke out into a full gallop charging at her pray with her horns lowered ready to inflict serious wounds, or even death.

The terrifying laughter made Amoena's eyes snap straight to wear the mare was, frefalling to the earth like a psychotic star. She knew that this was going to be the end even before the mare landed and spoke. She didn't really bother listening to the demon. Mostly beacuse her heart was racing so much she could barely hear her own voice in her head. Her eyes scanned the area as quickly as she could for something she could use to defend herself. The only thing around were a few sharp sticks that looked like they would break if touched.
Crystal blue eyes flickered back to the mare and a shot of fear blazed through her veins as the mare charged.
This was it. This was it and she wasn't going down without a fight. "Bring it!" She cried bowing her head. She was going to meet the black demon head on, if it meant death then at least she was going down swinging. As she raced towards her fate the only thing she could think was how very little she had actually done and how very much she hated this mare.

Shade's hooves dug deep into the earth to drive her forward faster, she could almost taste the blood and flesh. Her tail was lashing back and forth behind her even as she ran. She dug her hooves in for a moment then leaped forward opening her mouth in a twisted snarl bearing her fangs.
She'd already decided she wasn't going to kill Amoena at least not today, but she was going to make sure the filly never forgot the lesson she was learning now, never trust a stranger and never think she could stand up too a raven blessed kalona.
Shade could smell the fear as she got closer to the mare, but she looked ready to fight. That made a cruel laugh force it's way from Shade's throat and gave her even more of a reason to tear the female's hide to shreds. She was going to enjoy this, oh she was going to enjoy this a lot.

The sky blue mare braced her entire body. At the speed the two were going impact was going to be rough. With any luck the kalona would hurt enough afterward to make her stop the attack. The laugh made it oh so clear that her fortunes were absolutely no good. Oh well. It was to late to stop now. The distance between the two was only a few feet and was closing quickly.
She didn't want to think that this was the end but somewhere in her doubting heart she knew it was. Her mind blocked out any outside noise and all she could her was the beating of her heart, the sound of her heavy breaths and her own thoughts. Thoughts of her mother and brother and their voices along with the wonder of how they would feel never knowing what had become of her.
Letting out an enraged cry she squeezed her eyes shut and lunged aiming to hit the demon in the chest where her only successful attack had hit.

((Do oyu mind if I give her a scar or something on her shoulder? Shade isn't out to kill her she just wants to torment Amoena and make her rember this next time she stumbles upon othe soquili. sweatdrop ))
Shade cackled and lifted her head up pulling so her horns didn't pierce into the lesser mare, she didn't want to kill the little mare not this tie atleast. She wanted to teach her a lessen, break her even. Her hooves landed with a loud thud and she let out a soft cackling laugh at the cracking sounds as Amoena's head contacted with her chest.
She stepped back licking her lips, she could smell the fear and utter desperation coming form the other brlighter blue mare.
"Your fear is scrumptious little pet," she grinned bevilishly and started wondering around Amoena her crazy grin wide showing every ivory fangs she had.

Amoena stumbled backwards a bit dazed. She hadn't really expected that she would be able to connect as she had. She heard something cracking but she couldn't tell if it was her head or Nightshade's ribs. It didn't much matter though because she was still laughing. If the damage had indeed been done to the kalona it hadn't phased her.
Once she was able to focus her vision she locked herself in place and lowered her head to catch her breath and prepare for another shot if it was needed. She hoped it wouldn't be necessary. She could barely focus her mind and she felt like she was about to fall apart at any second.
"I'm not your 'pet'." She snarled glaring at the mare not knowing when to give up.

She smirked tossing her mane "ah but you are, even if you don't know it yet." Her smirk became a maniacle smile as she cotninued to circle Amoena. "Do you fear death mare? Does the thought of slipping into eternity make your heart skip a beat?" Her tail whipped p and the sharp edge traced Amoena's jugular as she passed around her once more.
She tossed her mane once more and stopped side by side with Amoena and her hind right foot twisted over as she went itno a more relaxed stance. Everything about her stance and the quieter more serene look about her was meant to lull the other mare into a false sense of security.
She mussed to herself still smirking "it's a scary thing the thought of death no?"

Crystal blue eyes watched as the other began to circle her like a vulture around a carcass but her head remained stationary. She was afraid that if she moved the kalona would take advantage and attack. She wasn't attacking at the moment, though, so Amoena listened quietly.
She didn't know if she was afraid of dying so much as she was afraid of leaving her mother alone. At least, that was how she felt when she thought about it most times. Right now, standing next to the one that could easily take her life from her, things were a bit different.
She took a sharp breath at the feeling of the sharp spade of a tail sliding over her life line. As she stopped moving Amoena slowly turned her head to look at her. Nothing about her stance said that she was the same psychotic mare that Amoena had just been fighting against. She didn't know what to make of it but it seemed like she was done fighting for the time being and that was a good thing. Her question made her pause but then she slowly nodded her head.
"It is..." She answered unable to think of anything else to say.

Shade smirked at her, she could see the mix of different emotions in the mare's eyes; confusion, fear, love for her family no doubt, and many others Shade didn't bother to identify. A soft breeze made her forelock cover her eyes for a moment, but it also made the chain connecting the twin tines on her forehead jingle ominously.
Shade stood silently still looking calm and collected standing beside Amonea. She stretched her leathery wings upwards pullig the leathery skin tight and making the sharp feathers ruffle up. Behind her that snake like tail was twitching lazilly brushing sftly against pant son the forest floor.
"So you do fear death?" She lazilly flicked an ear and raised an eyebrow. "Then maybe next time you meet a stranger in the woods you won't be so eager to help hmm?" She cocke dher head to the side and the slight movement made the chain jingle ominously again.
Then, so suddenly it was almost unseen that smile came back and her eyes light up once more and a crazy fire.
With a blood curdling scream that was something between her cackle and a roar she moved like greased lightning and raked her twin horns down Amoena's shoulder.
