It was a quiet afternoon, aside from the terrified cries of "WEE!" coming from a fairly tiny prey species. Two young Pidgeys were hopping around an unguarded nest of Weedles, picking off those that couldn't squirm to safety in time. The male of the pair, who was fairly common-looking aside from his green eyes and a few singed feathers here and there that his mother hadn't deemed bad enough to pluck, stuck his little pink beak into one that was trying to get brave and jab him with that rediculous-looking horn on its head. He removed his beak from the twitching, dieing worm and chirped over to his sister, "This is a great spot, Abby! Thanks for sharing it with me."
"No prob' Seeker," the slightly larger, female Pidgey replied. "Kinda dumb of those Beedrill to leave a whole batch like this without anyone standing guard, huh? Ah well... More food for us!" She made an almost wicked-sounding laugh as she stomped on one and started pecking greedily on the segmented yellow body of her prey.
"Hehe... Yeah." Seeker wondered if she would be saying the same thing if it had been Mother and Father wandering off, leaving them to whatever creature wanted to feast on tender Pidgey meat that day... But then he suddenly recalled that he was no longer living with the two evolved birds, or even with Abby. A sort of smile shone in those emerald eyes as he finished off what he decided would be his last Weedle of the day. He had actually been having a good time recently, being a "free bird." Though he was still what would be considered a child in the human world, he was already out on his own and fending for himself for the most part. Of course, the brood hadn't lost all contact yet... He still knew where they all lived, but only he and Abby kept intentional contact with one another. And soon even that would end as he grew completely independant. The very thought of living alone normally sent his heart pounding, but this convenient meal and sudden sense of security calmed him, and he actually thought that he might be ready.
