My favourite quotes are from sun tzu's art of war
"To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting."
"The clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, but does not allow the enemy's will to be imposed on him."
"The way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak"- my personal fav, hit em where it hurts xd
there's so many...

I LOVE The art of War. My favourite part is probably his seven conditions to winning a war. Honestly, I forget what they are right now, but it's my favourite part of the book.
EDIT:
12. Therefore, in your deliberations, when seeking to determine the military conditions, let them be made the basis of a comparison, in this wise:--
13. (1) Which of the two sovereigns is imbued with the Moral law? (2) Which of the two generals has most ability? (3) With whom lie the advantages derived from Heaven and Earth? (4) On which side is discipline most rigorously enforced? (5) Which army is stronger? (6) On which side are officers and men more highly trained? (7) In which army is there the greater constancy both in reward and punishment?
14. By means of these seven considerations I can forecast victory or defeat.

I've been trying to get my hands on the book forever, but I somehow distrust the English translations. Unfortunately, I can read only limited Chinese....and just another interesting note, my mother's maiden name was Suen..I wonder if there was any relations...(it's a big last name, I know, but still a fun idea to play around with.)

Yeah, I've wanted to get that book for a while now. I think I may just pick up a chinese one next summer and have a relative translate it for me or something.

You're better off searching for a complete translation on a website. They have a lot of them, plus they're translated from university professors and what-not, plus it's free. here's MY favourite translation of the art of war out of all the versions i've read out of books AND websites: The Art Of War - Sun Tsu
