I actually saw the episode first and it didn't make me cry... just really really shocked. I totally wasn't expecting that to happen! D:
But then when I read the manga and I knew their characters a bit better I cried. crying Maybe cos I knew it was coming?

I was reading too fast and skipped over both deaths. I mean, Matt's was way too early in the book. I totally didn't expect that. And Mello blended with the page he was on, so I was really confused as to what was happening.
Buuut, the fanbase keeps them alive for me. x3

I hard core cried when I seen it. It was sad cause our L laughed at me cause I never really cry but after Mello said he was sorry and you could see Matt kinda on the screen I cried like a little kid.

I actually found out not through the manga or the anime but through the avatar arena... there was this guy named Mairu Jivasu cosplaying Matt... I instantaneously recognized his head in the spotlight...
Obviously, support for my favourite character was mandatory so I clicked it... I read the description... found out why Mairu put a Mythril Halo on his head...
Oh man. If it wasn't for Mairu I would've cried for hours once I read Volume 12. He broke it to me easily... surprisingly I didn't cry when Matt died. I guess it was because I sort of accepted it. But then Mello died... er, that was a surprise. I didn't know he was going to... it really sucked because RIGHT BEFORE HE DIED I started loving him to pieces! It's not fair!!!
I sent Mairu Jivasu a PM and left him a comment thanking him, but he hasn't replied or anything. That's okay. I'm happy he indirectly told me.

I was very displeased when Matt died. Mello too. And then I had to watch it all over again because my friend hadn't finished Death Note yet. crying

Because I cried even harder the second time and I was wondering if I was abnormal. (But after staring at Matt dying multiple times I slowly desensitized myself until I was reduced to just sad frowns.)

well, i saw the anime before i started reading the manga, so i didnt really know who the heck matt and mello were when i started out. but then i saw pics, and thought:
omg, they're sexy
and then i went questing for info about them, pics, fanfics, the good stuff.
so then when i was obssessed with the couple, and mello got introduced to the anime i was so excited!! then matt got introduced, he didnt say anything though...but i was still excited. then they dissapered, and i just thought they would come back into the anime, and have a big part.
and then they came back in episode 35....and died. i couldnt beleive it. i was so upset. i was so thrilled about seeing them in the anime and then they just killed them off. they should of had a bigger part.
WAY bigger.

- 3Matt_3_Jeevas3 - Yeah, Im pretty sure that whole BOOK pissed me off...i was literally flipping thru all the pages going: WHY IS EVERYBODY DDIEEIINGG????? And yeah, omg cuz i was in the car with a friend when i was reading it, and the first, like, THREE PAGES matt dies and i was all like: WHAT??? WHAT THE (censored) oohh no... It just wasnt right.... crying and does anyone agree with me that HAL sent matt to his death??? SERIOUSLY!! i think she had somethin for mello and stuff, and she sent all of takada's bodyguards after matt while she was all like "I'll go after mello mahself and maybe he'll see me NAKED again XD" yeah, im pretty sure that i DONT like her >> and the fact that she looked so upset when mello DID die....>> ooooooooh, i just DDOONNTT like her... scream (its not like she ever had a chance with mello anyway HAH!!! rofl ) but yeah, with the manga, i just got angry beyond belief and sulked for a few days.... but oh god, the anime... actually SEEING matt get shot down like that.... it just ripped my heart out and stomped all over it.. i called up my friend and i was crying lawl she was all like "I TOLD you not to watch it, you loser!!!" and i was all like "oh god i AM a losseerr!! *cry cry*" and yeah.....that was my death note experience..
I don't even know what happens in the anime. I don't read the manga. Hell, I'm only watching it because I'm in love with MattxMello and L. I HATE Kira. And I hate everyone else. They could all die and I could be completely happy. But. . . of course, MY FAVORITES die. D'x Bastards. I cried. I still do when I rewatch it. I read it once because an ex-friend of mine had it.

Yep... the boys need a hell of a lot more screen time in the anime. I recently realized the anime moves slow as hell in the beginning and then uber fast near the end... that is really aggravating!
And I got the 4 volumes I needed for Christmas so I now I have all the Death Note manga and plan to read the whole series in a row! So excited!

D: I was too shocked to cry. It was so sudden I was just sitting there with my mouth hanging open. My first reaction was "IM MUNNA BEAT YOU TO DEATH TAKADA!! D<"
I think Mello's death was totally unnecessary and was only so Ohba could solve the Mello vs. Near rivalry without any conflict *cough* chicken. Besides, it was out of character- Mello is smart enough he would have seen it coming that Takada had a Death Note hidden in her undies.
@Jam: Yeah, it bugs me that Matt gets 2 scenes and 1 line. T~T

I watched the anime and Matt and Mello didn't have very big roles, and I had yet to get into this pairing. But I agree with Marshie, initially I was too shocked to cry also. I just stared at the screen with wide eyes for awhile until my shock turned into anger.
I wish he hadn't given her the blanket until she had completely stripped. I mean, DUH, why would one strip search her only parcially? x_x Oye, he just had to die when I started to love him.. crying

I had to comfort my friend when L died(Off topic, I know), we ate a lot of chocolate that day... then yet again we binged that day I saw their death's. Then my friend and I got into a debate about the dramatic level of their deaths.
Friend: Bu-but L! He was so great and awesome and then it was just l-like boom! He's dead! Just like thaaaaaat! -sob- (off topic yet again)
Me: ...atleast he got a dramatic death!
Friend: It wasn't dramatic enough!
Me: Atleast he got slow motion and weird camera angles and a choir singing in the background! Then a short flashback!! All Matt got was BA-BANG-BANG-BAN-BA-BANG-BANG-B-BAN-BANG(x4). Then he deeeed. -eats chocolate comfort food-

When I saw it on the anime I was too in shock to respond.
When I read it in the manga I sat in my room and listened to emo songs on my iPod.
Yup. I'm a loser.
But then I decided they are all alive in an alternate reality (mine) having teaparties and Light isn't invited.
Neither is Takada
Or Mikami
Or Misa
Or Hal when she gets there.
Because they are poo-faces.
