...but your right, MXM does make more sense. But MXN is good for some violent smut, LMAO. Plus, apparently there's a lot more MXN than MXM... >.<

Hmm. Well, I've seen worse pairings so MxN really doesn't make me all weird and stuff. If the author manages to make it work, then I applaud their amazing skills.
But Matt and Mello are no doubt the best pair ever! And to answer somebody's comment before (I can't remember who...) about there being more MxN than MxM fanfics, I suppose it's because Near appears WAY more than Matt does.

I never really was a big fan of Mello and Near together, even before Matt was introduced. Of course, when it comes to fanart, I'll look at just about anything. Whether I save the art or not is another story.
I think that Mello/Near stories should be left to the writers who can make a story very long, complex and detailed, because that's definitely how a relationship between those two characters would be. Mello would never admit to liking Near and Near wouldn't bother trying to convince Mello otherwise, so really, it would take a lot of talent to get the pairing to work.
Either way, I love Near as a character. He's so cute! But Matt is cuter wink

Mellolishous Please don't kill me but I am kind of a Fan of it I just think it's a cute couple When they where younger maybe probably not when there older I also like Near and L I think thats just cute!! biggrin ... okay, to each their own. I can sort of understand the logic behind Mello x Near (what logic? We're talking about FANGIRLS!) but, no offence, Near and L is a little bit creepy. They're too similar. And that would be borderline *****.

i dont realy think they were friends. i mean, they were rivals competing to be L's successor. but i think what some people see in the couple is the rivalry. some people like the rival love, it makes for a good plot for a fanfic. i myself am not a heavy mello/near fan. but i have seen some good pics, and have read some really great stories of them. so i dont hate the pairing, i just perfer matt/mello.

There's at least an 11 year difference.

I do have a point, no?I can see how people would pair them, and I, myself, have dabbled a bit in the pairing, buuuut there is almost no fluff in it. Sadly, it's the best pairing I can think of with Near. xP I'm a fan of Nia-san so I have to pair him. It's just something I do. o.o;; Anywho, people like different things. They like what they like and I'm not going to bash them for it. ;P (not that I'm implying you do. I'm just saying. o.o)

I do have a point, no?No, I understand. A lot of fangirls are really obsessed with love x hate relationships. Hell, I'm often a sucker for it too. But I'm not so fond of this pairing... Mello mostly hates Near because he is jealous, which is really irritational. I geuss I could see it slightly plausible because I've liked people and admired the people I also had grudges against for possessing abilitys and status that I lacked. So, even if Mello DID like Near I couldn't see him admiting it because he is a prideful b*****d. Mhm, it's also cute how they unintentionally help each other with the Kira case... but yea, I'm sure girls love the lovexhateness. Personally I think the might like each other as freinds and even have trouble admiting that. I think they are too proud. So, I'm not bashing either way. Personally I don't like Near, and I don't like pairing characters I like with ones I don't like. I do like their dynamic and stuff but not as a couple.

Hm. Well I could see them being friends when they were younger. Even if they weren't admitedly friends. They're rivals, but I would think on some level they care about each other. But, like most people have been saying, I don't see them as being a couple. I guess that's mainly because I can't really picture Near being with anyone. Eventhough he's supposedly 18 or however old he is...he reminds me of a 5 year old playing with his gundam toys. I can't see Near really being in a relationship, though he's human, so feelings DO happen. >_>; Hrm. I don't MIND the pairing either.
