Akuji paused at first, unsure what to do. It was bad to laugh at someone else's pain, right? But the mental image of Thalassa chomping this cold hard tile was simply too laughable to pass up. In attempt not to be rude, he attempted to mask his chuckles, but ended up sounding like he was whimpering or coughing.
He tried again.
Letting himself go, Akuji's light laughter sounded like that of a confident young numa, and was uncharacteristically charming. "I apologize," he said between fits. "T-this is rude. I'm sorry you- heehe--were hurt by the stupid-- he, hmm-- floor." He said with a little difficulty, blushing again. His head hurt. "I-uh... Once I was just running along the candycane patch and I tripped on a gumdrop dinosaur and I was thrown through the air and my horns got caught on a tree." Akuji told, rushed and quickly, as if to make up for his laughter and her potential embarrassment. "I.. I was stuck there for almost a day." he nodded.
Ashamed and shy, Akuji took the bucket and split it over himself. That's right, wash away the failure.

Thalassa’s own laughter was coming pretty easily because she had decided long ago the story was more amusing than it was painful. Not that she was in any particular hurry to have a repeat of the processes. It took Akuji a moment and in the moment her ears flicked back and forth in mild confusion.
Was he forcing laughter?
Her own smile became bright and nearly of it’s own free will her laughter spilled out. She was laughing so hard that she wanted to roll around on the floor. At least she wasn’t the only one that did something stupid. “My - my oh goodness.” The idea of him cart wheeling through the air and getting stuck in a tree? Thalassa clutched at her side and took the empty bucket, refilling it so he could keep getting wet. The soap was sitting on the floor beside a couple of other jars that her human had said to leave alone. Taking a deep, deep breathe she finally managed to keep herself under control.
“I.. I can just see you doing that. Oh Akuji my sides hurt!” One paw wiped away a tear of laughter and she hooted softly trying to calm down.

Ack! Her sides hurt, what does that mean? Was she hurt? Akuji was sure he didn't see anything happen to them, so why-- oh. She was laughing too hard. A small smile spread across Akuji's face. It was... nice, to have made her laugh. He wasn't sure that he had ever done that before. He was actually surprised that his tale of unhappiness actually came in handy.
He laughed again, mostly at the sight of Thalassa's happy-pained face. He wasn't sure if he had ever laughed hard enough so that his sides hurt, but it didn't seem like it would be too bad.
"I'm glad you think it's funny," He said, mock-sadly with a smile. He had a mini-panic attack for a moment, trying to remember if that was how normal Numas joked. "I had to get out with nothing but my own strength-- the Twiterpatters were pecking at my ears!" Akuji said, sticking out his tongue playfully as he splashed himself again.
A new feeling had emerged within Akuji. He couldn't place it, but he could say for sure that it was good.

Thal’s eyes twinkled and she sobered up long enough to look him over carefully. He looked like a drowned pleep so it was time for soap. Her human had given her a mirror once and showed her the washing steps. As strange as it seemed Thal hadn’t really even had a clue about that. Her breathing was a bit uneven but she toddled over to the soap.
That’s when it happened… One of the bottles that she wasn’t supposed to do tipped over and a small amount of the liquid poured right not the soap. Her ears flicked back and forth with worry and she toddled back to Akuji with the jar.
“Well.. You got to laugh at me, silly so fair’s fair!” Her tone was teasing and she smiled again, her shyness was fading pretty quickly but now for the soap. “Uhm.. One of my human’s other jars spilt a little bit in.. I think if I stir it up it’ll be okay ‘cuz she uses the stuff on herself.” She wanted him to be okay with the new addition or else she’d just wait.
Thal handed him the jar and just looked at him. He was so nice.. But she liked him more than just a nice person… Funny, huh?

The Coffee Numa was now quite contented, after the good laugh and he felt the sticky soda begin to be washed away by the water. He was sitting on his butt, resembling the stature of a happy dog with his tail waving and his ears high and alert. A small smile was perched upon his face, and Akuji wondered if it would stick. He certainly wouldn't mind.
Thal was, well... She was something different. Never had he felt so at ease with another being-- not even himself. He had never joked, or laughed, or smiled easily with another Numa. It was relaxing and theraputic, almost, to be around her. He wondered if this was friendship? It seemed a little to epic for that, however. As Akuji was pondering this, it was no wonder he paid little attention to what Thal had said about mixing two chemicals.
"No, that seems fine," he said absentmindedly, his brain trying to grasp these unusual emotions that were lighting fire inside him. After a moment he shook his head and smiled. Perhaps it was best not to worry over the details as he always did. Perhaps it was just best to spend his time enjoying the moment. Yes, that sounded good.

Thal took the jar back from him and got into the water as well. She figured that in the end she’d be soaked and sometimes her human got cranky if the floor got too wet. Although that didn’t make sense. It -was- tiles after all. She grabbed one of the back scrubby-loafuh things and poured no small amount of soap on it.
Considering where to start Thal just dove right into washing. The other stuff that had fallen in hadn’t really changed the smell of the soap and the warm water did feel nice. She scrubbed away at his back before offering him the jar, “You can work on your arms and stuff, your claws will help with the worst of it!” Boy, the claw probably would be pretty useful. Her own claws were short and painted a sparkly blue that her human thought she might like.
Even something as strange as a bath wasn’t embarrassing. Thalassa couldn’t help but wonder why she wasn’t blushing from ear tip to toes from this. Nothing was wrong with what they were doing it just seemed intimate to help another get all clean. She liked Akuji… Yeah, that was why this wasn’t weird… but she liked her other friends and more than likely she’d have just… given them the soap and blushed in a corner?

While Thal may not have been embarrassed, Akuji became awfully self-conscious as soon as the loofah had touched his fur. He gently put some "soap" in his hair and made it fall over his face, so hopefully she wouldn't notice the red tint that was on his white fur. He wondered if she was judging him, with his long fangs, his talons, his spiked tail. The worries soon melted away, though, at the sight of her face. She wouldn't think things like that. Somehow, Akuji knew that much.
As she suggested, Akuji began scrubbing his fur as hard as he could in attempt to distract himself and to clean his fur. But, uh, mostly to clean his fur. The coffee began to feel an odd tinging sensation on his claws, but figured that it was simply how this soap stuff worked. Actually, it didn't smell half bad.
"Do you think your human will mind if I'm here when she gets home?" Akuji asked timidly, scrubbing and averting his eyes from Thal. He didn't want to make Thal worried, but he definitely did not want her human to get mad at her on his account. That's just something that Akuji would not let happen to her.

Thalassa flit backwards to stare at her handiwork before smiling in pleasure. The small amount of what in the tub had a kind of soapy yucky purple to it just like how hers was after a long day playing in the sticky river. She shook herself off and giggled slightly as some of the spatter hit the walls, floors, and ceiling. That was probably why it was all tile. Sure, Akuji was different than her but she had to remind herself that he was different to even remember it.
Thal’s paws felt a bit funny.. Like she’d scrubbed too hard and in the back of her mind she became anxious to get the soap off of both of them. Flying to the water-pump thing she got a bucket of it and dowsed Akuji after a friendly, “Close your eyes!” The soap had never felt like this.. And the worry was bothering her.
“Swirl? No.. if anything she’ll bar the door and not let you out til you promise to come visit.” Her human could be a bit… well… wild. She blushed again and was in the process of dumping another bucket of water on him, and her hands. “I don’t.. usually bring home friends… None have ever wanted to come here…”

"I wonder why," Akuji muttered under his breath, genuinely curious. Thal was such a nice Numa. Well, he was glad to be one of the first visitors, then. His headache had since subsided, and after being doused in warm water he was feeling guiltily comfortable. "I'm sorry you have to do so much work to get me clean," he apologized, closing his eyes and letting the soap run over his face.
The strange tingling sensation on his hands had spread to the rest of his body, making him feel a little uncomfortable. It was like his body was a big mint. Err, an odd way to say it, but one of the only ways he could.
"You fly very well," He said. He had noticed earlier, but had not the mind to compliment her till now. "These little things don't do much," He said, twitching his small purple wings. Coffee Numas lacked the natural abilities that Candies do. Their females can't fly too well, and the males can't swim too well. They were rather land-bound, unfortunately. Still, Akuji wondered what it was like.
The tingling turned something into a light burning, and Akuji was anxious to open his eyes. "Can I open my eyes again?" He asked.

Thal sometimes wondered the exact same thing about why nobody ever really wanted to come over here, but at the same time she figured it was because she didn’t really act like anybody else and they wouldn’t have fun. Not the best feeling but she could live with it. She smiled and flew back and forth quickly, wanting to get the soap off of both of them. In a few more buckets he’d be rinsed entirely and she’d go grab one of the fluffy white towels that she loved.
One bucket. It was fairly obvious that both of them were feeling that kind of uncomfortable feeling. “It’s.. not a problem, Akuji.” She blushed and panted a bit. Getting back and forth quickly. . She felt the urge to puff up just a little bit at the compliment. Her wings had been useful for all the time she had spent alone and for awhile Thalassa had only used them to hide from people. Another bucket of water and she was rather satisfied that almost all of the soap was off of him. In her rush she hadn’t noticed what had happened.. To both of them. “Thank you.. I love flying.. But I’ve yet to master swimming gracefully.”
Splash! Her paws ran over his coat carefully with the last bucket of water. Yep, every bit of soap was off his fur, “Yes you may.”

Happy to be clean again, Akuji opened his eyes happily, although his eyes met with a sight rather shocking. Thal's light blue fur, around her hands, had been turned ghostly white. The entire thing actually, didn't look to bad. "Thalassa," he began, a little hesitant to say her name. It made him feel as if they were close-- it was not a bad feeling, but perhaps he was being a little intrusive. "I think the soap did something to your hands."
It wasn't till after his warning that he himself noticed the white splotches tainting his own fur. "W-wha.." He began, as he sat up. His wet fur, the black and grey parts, at least, had odd cow-like spots of white on them. He paled.
"D-does soap do this sometimes? It goes back, right?" Akuji asked, his blue eyes desperate and worried. If he looked like this, numas would be even more scared of him! Poor Akuji.

Thalassa’s happy smile faded from her face rather quickly. Oh.. Oh no.. what had she done? Her new friend would hate her now. Tears welled up in her face even though she tried to fight it and her wings began to practically hum from the panic that automatically did that to her. Soap wasn’t supposed to do that. She had to go see what had gotten into the soap. Her paws and her whole body were pale enough that she didn’t look bad, and honestly Thal wasn’t the sort to really care about appearances.
She went over and picked up the funny-smelling stuff that had gotten into the soap. Not much at all really… but.. It said “Bleach.” She turned back to Akuji with her head hanging and showed him the bottle of stuff that had mixed in.
“I. I-t wa-was s-such a sm-sm-small amount..” Whenever Thalassa became upset the stutter she had slowly defeated came back with a vengance. Finally she lifted miserable eyes up to him, “Will.. You forgive me?” She’d do whatever she could in her power to fix him. Her human probably could figure it out. But until then the little Numa felt like locking herself in a room forever as punishment for doing something so awful to him.

Akuji was scared. No, well, terrified really. Not only was his new friend (hmm, he wondered if he could call her that to her face. He blushed at the thought) upset, but both she and him were splotched with that funny thing called "bleach" or whatever. As he witnessed Thalassa's happiness deteriorate, he felt his own happiness dwindle as well. Akuji truly disliked seeing her eyes water in such a fashion.
While most times, when confronted with a she-Numa with tears in her eyes, Akuji would normally freak out and disappear as quickly as possible. Yet, with her, he wanted to make it stop. He wasn't sure how, but he was going to make her stop feeling sad.
"T-there's nothing to forgive," Akuji said, calmly with a smile on his face. Actually, the more he thought about it, there kind of was a reason to forgive... but oh well. "P-please don't worry about it, Thalassa. It's just fur. It'll grow out in time." He said. Well, hoped.
"So, uhm," He looked down at his splotchy fur, still wet with water and a little soap. "Please, please don't be sad. We were having fun." Akuji said quietly, looking up at her shyly from his discolored hair.

The same fear that was coursing through Akuji’s veins seemed to be running rampant in her own. What if he was mad at her and didn’t want to have supper with her or even talk to her? It took several moments after telling her that he wasn’t upset for Thalassa to really realize that one, he had spoken, and two it wasn’t a sort of talking that ended in yelling or even throwing things at her own stupidity.
She sniffled and rubbed at her eyes, looking up at with him with both ears pinned back saddly, “I-I’m sorry though.. M-My human maybe can fix it?” Sometimes her human came home with hair that was a totally different color than the day before.
All of her hope was pushed right into there being something that would turn black fur back to black and as for herself, Thalassa didn’t care if it was never fixed. Never ever ever. His concern for them to go back to having fun was actually what snapped her out of that fast adrenaline packed fear.
Her eyes were still watery but she held her paw up shyly and smiled, “Sh-should we go eat and relax…?” They could laugh and joke and if he was hiding being upset she’d tell him other dumb things she had done in the past… besides this.

As Thal looked as if she was returning back to her normal state of emotion, Akuji relaxed as well. It was still a little bothered that she had shed tears over the accident, but some things couldn't be prevented. The best he could do was make her happy again.
'I'll be very nice and offer to... offer to do something. Gaah...' Akuji thought sadly, trying to think of ways to make her happy again. "We could eat," Akuji agreed with a hungry nod. "I'm still a little wet though," he noted. Then, he smiled at Thal. He got on all four paws and shook furiously, little water droplets splashing on the airbound girl. "Nyaah~ payback!" He said with a childish smile. As long as he didn't look in the mirror, the spots didn't bother him. Perhaps he'll just stay this way, so Thal wouldn't get upset. There were much odder looking Numa around than him... Maybe.
Akuji got up and wiped his paws on the floor mat, as to not get the tile floor dirty. "Well, I'm in the mood for some Cinnamon Gummybears. You?" He asked, looking back at Thal happily.
